Hi everyone!! I highly highly recommend my confinement nanny, she goes by “Yan Jie” but her name is Chaw Yoke Yin. I found her through one of the posts on this forum and she is currently doing my confinement for me (will end on 9 Jan 2026 ).

I’ve heard of stories where nannies only do chores related to the mummy/ baby but Yan Jie isn’t calculative and always does what she can to make our lives easier. The moment Yan Jie arrived at my place, my husband and I had just finished lunch and she automatically washed all the dishes for us even though she didn’t need to as it wasn’t cooked by her. She happily cooks for my husband and even offers to cook for my parents/ in-laws when they come over. She does all of baby’s laundry but when she saw that our clothes were also piling, she offered to help us keep them/ hang after they were done washing. She’s also very attentive to my needs, always helping me clear my plates/ refill my water bottle/ sterilise stuff the minute I’m done using them so I can focus on rest and recovery.

Sharing some of the other stuff that I feel very grateful to Yan Jie for:
- For all our PD appointments, she helped to pack the going-out bag without me asking. Not just packing stuff for baby but also for me. I didn’t need to pack a single thing
- Keeps my kitchen sparkling clean and mops the kitchen floor after cooking each meal.
- Great hygiene. Ensures she bathes after cooking and made us buy a hand sanitiser for use after diaper change.
- Very easy to get along with and not intrusive at all. She knows when to give us space and when to step in to help.
- Has given us loads of great suggestions on the things to buy/ how to care for baby. But never enforces her ideas or views on us.
- Takes great care of baby and he is always calm with her. She is also aligned to our parenting style (allows time for baby to self-sooth and no need to rock to sleep, but will still be present/ pick-up if needed).
- Offers to take care of the burping, changing diaper, swaddling and sometimes carrying of baby after I’m done feeding in the MOTN as she wants me to rest as much as possible. Even though she has to be up earlier than me to prep everything.
- Very “auto” and has high EQ. She always just opts to have veggie, an egg and a few slices of meat for her meals so I have more (if there’s expensive fish/ dishes she won’t take any for herself until I insist and put it on her plate!).

Yan Jie is a really sweet lady and I’m so glad I got her as my nanny. Her assistance and presence has reduced so much of my mental load as a new mum. I know she has an open slot after me and her next booking is mid-March 2026.

You can reach out to her at: +60 17-286 9959. Feel free to also ask me any questions about my experience with Yan Jie :)

Hello Jessica! Thanks for sharing. Is Yan Jie good at helping doing skin to skin w baby and breastfeeding at the initial stages?

Hi Rissey! Ah hmm I’m not entirely sure as I never sought her help on either of these matters. I gave birth at Mount A and they didn’t help me do skin to skin, and I haven’t done it with bb so far either. For breastfeeding, I would recommend seeking professional help if required (I might be wrong but my view is that confinement nannies and lactation consultants are separate professions). I engaged a LC twice - the day after I got discharged and a week later to fix my latch and my BF journey has been so much easier since.

Yan Jie is a great support though - she will advise on how much bb should drink, how to store breast milk, agreeable to syringe feed bb when we didn’t wanna give bottle etc. She has also taught us different positions and methods to carry/ calm baby and all have worked so far.

Hope this answers your question! Also happy to recommend the LC I engaged. She’s really really really great.
