Is your Child Future-Ready? Meet these Preschool Inventors from PCF Sparkletots who are and learn their secret!

In today’s vibrant world, preparing preschoolers for the future means nurturing their excitement for learning. Through engaging experiences, they build social-emotional resilience, enhance their problem-solving abilities, and learn the basics of communication and collaboration. Introducing STEM concepts in fun and accessible ways sparks curiosity and fosters a love for science, technology, engineering, and mathematics from an early age. Add in a dash of invention and entrepreneurship, and you have future-ready kids — like these preschool inventors from PCF Sparkletots featured below — for whom the sky’s the limit!

Blind-Friendly Water Dispenser
By Ng Rui Zhen, K1

The visually challenged often have difficulty knowing when to stop pouring water, resulting in overflows from their cups. Rui Zhen’s invention is a blind-friendly water dispenser that helps them to pour water without spills.
On top of that, they can choose their preferred water temperature: using the yellow button for room temperature water, and the two triangle-shaped buttons for hot boiling water. The magnet on the cup acts as a sensor to help users control the amount of water being dispensed. What a helpful tool for people with visual impairment!
Floral Breeze Truck
By Lim Ching Tung, Kan Ho Ching, K1

Garbage trucks are not exactly fragrant. Who hasn’t pinched their nose or held their breath when one drives past? That’s why Ching Tung and Ho Ching used their observation and inventive skills to invent the Floral Breeze Truck, which sprays a floral scent.
With a nifty fan system to diffuse the scent with the truck, it works like a charm to mask the stench and keep Singapore’s air aromatic!
Beach Buddy
By Peddisetty Advaith Vihaan, K2

While at the beach, Advaith noticed that there were not enough rubbish bins. In addition, those that existed were either too far away, or inaccessible. There were also not enough cleaners at the beach. To help keep one of his favourite places clean, Advaith created the Beach Buddy.
This user-friendly robot device allows members of the public to keep picnic areas clean with just the press of a button and reduces the hassle of having to look for a bin to clear our trash after a fun day out at the beach. Beach Buddy helps keeps Singapore clean, maintaining our ‘Garden City’ image, and reduces pollution, protecting our marine habitats and wildlife.
Nurture a Future-Ready Child

What do these kids have that inspires them to become such innovative, creative, and caring inventors? It seems that the common factor is PCF Sparkletots’ STEMIE programme. Apart from honing their essential literacy and numeracy abilities, children at Sparkletots also get exposure to Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics, Invention, and Entrepreneurship skills — right in school as part of their daily curriculum — preparing these 4 to 6 year olds to be future-ready.
In addition, STEMIE also encompasses design thinking, art, and perspective taking. Children learn to embrace empathy and understand diverse viewpoints, harness creativity and artistic expression, and develop practical solutions.
In the process they develop critical skills such as problem-solving, communication, and tech-enabled skills, ensuring that they are well-equipped to thrive in a rapidly evolving world.

Your Child Can be Future-Ready Too!

Find out how the PCF Sparkletots curriculum can help you raise future-ready kids at the PCF Sparkletots Future Ready Fair 2024. Here are some highlights to look forward to:
STEMIE Inventions Showcase
See up to 170 unique and innovative innovations by Sparkletots children who have been through the STEMIE programme. Young inventors from various centres will also be there to share the stories behind their inventions, showcasing problem-solving abilities and their communication and presentation skills!
STEMIE Tales Storytelling Sessions
There will also be exciting interactive storytelling sessions. By solving puzzles and doing hands-on activities, your child will get to help characters in the stories overcome challenges. So put on those thinking caps and switch on your imagination to give the story a happy ending!
Meet Our Tech Toys

Your child can participate in tech toys activities at interactive booths. By collaborating with Bee-Bot and Kubo, they’ll learn fundamental coding skills, problem-solving, and thinking concepts — all while having fun.
STEMIE Possible Challenge — build the longest and strongest bridge
Kids can also take part in this challenge to build the longest and strongest bridge using pegs and ice cream sticks. This challenge will ignite your child’s creativity and problem-solving skills. What’s more, the top three records of the event for each day will win cool prizes.
Free fan painting sessions
Children can also redeem a complimentary fan painting session, where they can paint their own fan to take home.
There will also be a fun skit performed by educators, and intergenerational Angklung performances starring adorable Sparkletots children and Sparkle Care seniors at the launch event on 28 September at Our Tampines Hub.
