Trying to conceive for a 2016 Baby

Hi Tryingtoconceive2014...thats a very long name to type. hahahah. Its friday people.

Why im taking Vitamin D supplement? Good question, i was seeing Dr Anu from NUH and she just told me i need vitamins to be strong and she prescribed Vit D. So i've been taking tat. Its almost finishing. I've switched to Dr Chew in NUH and he told me to continue the medication. I'm will be starting my first IVF soon, taking NE on Nov 7. So praying it will work for me first time.

Hi Tinklebbdust, yes i feel exaxtly the same as u do. Pressure pressure everywhere. but im trying to take it light which is really important for our body. As we stress we release some signal and hormones to our brains which then reacts for our body to be negative. So lets just work on relaxing. i know its not easy but we have to try dear.

Hi All,

Currently, I am on Letrozole and my body is responding well to it except that I have slight headache after taking it.

Best of luck to all of us :)

hoping for 2016 baby. was filled with disappointment for the last 2 months. symptoms of period and early pregnancy are too similar. hard to spot. hopefully no period in the next few days..

Me too. Aiming for a 2016 baby. Have been trying for 8 months alr. Just booked an appt for checkups. Just check with u ladies.. does ur opk line always as strong as the control line? Mine is always not as dark..

Hi Fel C,

We have started trying actively late last year/early this year (both in our 30s) after graduating from school last year.
However after trying for so many months to no avail, we decided to visit a gynae at KKH in june.

We did all the tests (HSG, Semen Analysis, blooed test) with favourable results, so was being prescribed with
medicine to boost my ovulation for my next cycle (Sept).
Meanwhile, the doctor advised us to try during day 10, 12, 14, 16, 18 (calculated from the 1st day of my period).

Since you are 31 and have been trying for a year, my advise is for you to go to the doctor for tests.

Cheers.
Hi.. u go to a gynae for check or u sign up those body check up package for the test?

Hi Fel C,

It will not be my first baby, but I am hoping that it will be my first live pregnancy, meaning carrying baby to full term.

How long have you been trying for a baby?

If more than 1 year, and you are under 35, you may want to consult a fertility specialist. If it is confirmed that there is nothing wrong with both yourself and your husband, you may want to buy ovulation test kit, to know roughly when you ovulate, so as to time the fertility timing more accurately.
Hi.. I am also trying to conceive. . But no news for 1yr .. do u hav recommendation where to find a fertility specialist? KKH gynae?

Hi northern lights.. which gynae u approach for your tests? I am also planning to go KKH.

Hi Fel C,
We went to KKH as private, and was being referred internally to KKIVF Dr Sadhana.
As for the cost, I need to check the invoices and will let you know later.
Hi. . I m also planning to go KKH private. . Hmm..could you share how u think about Dr Sadhana? Cz I called to book appointment for sat morning and I am given Dr Sadhana too. .

Hi Shandoll,

From my personal experience, the costs of these tests such as blood, ultrasound, Semen Analysis etc, cannot be deducted from your medisave.
However if you are doing HSG, KKH will deduct $300 (maximum)from your medisave and you need to top up about $170 for private visit.

More info:
https://www.moh.gov.sg/content/moh_...ts/Summary_of_Medisave_Withdrawal_Limits.html

There is a limit of $300 per year for "outpatient scans for diagnosis or treatment of a medical condition".

Cheers.
Hi.
What's HSG?

Me too... Trying a few months already... Can anyone help to share which kinda food is best to avoid for couples while ttc?

How the tubes are inserted? From down there?

yup.
the dyes are inserted into you so that when the xray can capture where the dyes are flowing.
if the dyes flows out of your tubes, it means that you do not have any blocked tubes.
some said that the woman will get very fertile in the months after hsg.
because the dyes also sort of help to clear the passage way for the sperms to travel to the egg.

hihi, I met Dr Sadhana two weeks ago for IUI consultation. I find her alright. She keep encouraging me to go for natural IUI..no meds and injections.
when i told her i try for 6 mths, she ask me to try for another few mths before going for IUI, coz I just did my hsg last month and she thinks that I will have a higher chance this up coming months. but I insisted for IUI and she wanted me to do natural IUI lst.
I waited almost 2 hrs for each visit and only see her like 10 mins? on my first visit, she listen to my ttc stories and collected all my scans and reports. she also will order bloodtest (AMH, Full blood count, rubella, thalassemia) they draw 3 tubes of blood from me. depending on results, they draw one tube of blood from my husband and draw one more tube of blood from me again on my second visit. this time they are checking for HIV, hep B and C and others which i'm not sure of. I was thinking why cant they test the blood all at one go? After that, you will need to go down KKH again for a IUI briefing like how much medisave is being used and all.
I paid for all these bloodtest including consultation total about $800 ( medisave not covered for these tests) but until now i haven receive any of my medical report back.

I have already started my IUI with the scan on CD8, which is yesterday and came to realise its done massively by some nurse i think, not Dr Sadhana. same thing wait for 1 hr to scan and wait another hour for 1 min review. I also found out that the IUI procedures are done by attending doctors on duty.
My cousin is seeing this Dr Tan Heng Hao, another popular doctor in KKH. Apparently, my cousin says he is more patient and more enthusiastic about couples doing IUI. whereas Dr Sadhana is more straightforward.

just to share. :)

The blood test for HIV etc is a requirement by the government for IUI and IVF and it expires after 6mths. That's probably why they did it only on your 2nd appt so that the 6mths won't be up so fast.

I'm not under Dr Sadhana but she is popular amongst IVF-ers. Dr Tan HH also. And PC Wong from NUH.

Hi.
Thansk for sharing ..what's IUI..

Shirley84ger,

I guess you are born in year 84? If that's the case, me too :)
Have been trying actively since late last year, but when no positive results and that was why I visited KKH mid this year.
I took HSG, Ultrasound & Blood tests and my husband took the Semen Analysis under Prof John Tee whom referred us to Dr Sadhana.

The reports were out and Dr Sadhana told us that our results are 'good'...

A few weeks later, I visited Prof John Tee as my period is late for 3 weeks with Negative HPT.
It was then, he told me it is impossible I am pregnant at that time but he did an Ultrasound to ease my mind.
The reasons why he was so sure that I am not pregnant is that based on the test reports I did with Dr Sadhana:
1) I am not ovulating,
2) My husband's sperm morphology is 1%, which means only 1% of his sperms are 'normal' shape

We were shocked upon hearing that, as Dr Sadhana DID NOT mention that to us and I thought it is her responsibility to tell us??

When I told him that Dr Sadhana did not mention it to us, and he waived my consultation & U/S fees that day. (This meant something fishy right?)
Also, we did not want to pursue this matter and hence we stopped visiting KKH.

Remarks: KKH will not provide us with the physical test reports, therefore I purchased the reports after the visit at $10.70 and
visited another private gynae at Mount E Novena for 2nd opinion.

This is my first post that sharing about my experience as I did not want to pursue this matter, but it was after reading what Charnel wrote then I
decided to share about my experience with Dr Sadhana.

PS: Prof John Tee is a good gynae with lots of experiences, I knew this as he is my sister's gyna. She had mid-term termination of pregnancy due to Chromosome abnormality early this year.

Cheers, Melissa.

Hi..Melissa.. thanks so much for your sharing.. yes I am born in 1984 too..actually I did see Dr John Tee previously when I have chemical pregnancy in Feb 15.. after that no news till now..actually I find that he is abit too straight forward doctor and don't really explain much and short & sweet in his explaintion .. dunno is it a good thing or not..

So after so many months of no news I decided to look around for body check up test package in hospitals to test whether is it our body problem that cause no pregency news or what.. but I am not sure whether should I go straight to gynae at hospital or go for those check up package to test for fertility type. .

look for fertility specialist after trying for 1 year.
while trying, take multivitamins, folic acids.
i randomly search online and read that evening primrose oil can help in making your womb a less hostile environment. but it can only be taken till just before ovulation. ovulation day onwards must stop.

is your cycle regular btw?

fighting !

Yup, he will not ask or talk much but personally I think it is because of his packed schedule.
Nevertheless, he is skilful and able to offer straight solution to my sister without beating around the bush.
One man's meat may be another man's poison... So whether he is suitable or not, will much depending on individuals.

Cheers.

Edited: Regarding ur question whether which gynae or fertility doctor to visit first, either one will still advise u to go for blood tests, ultrasound, HSG to check for blockage and Semen Analysis for husbands. So not much to stress over that.

Hi Melissa

I totally can relate.
My husband sperm morphology is also 1 percent but the rest is fine. the gynae i went to told me with his percentage, I wont be able to do IUI. But i go ahead to KKH and she says there is nothing wrong with his percentage. but now that you mention this, I think I dont have faith in her anymore.
And yes next is KKH, I totally dont feel like stepping in there anymore. we pay so much for our reports but we cant get it back?
When I went for my scan at CD11, the attending doctor ask me to use ovulation kit from CD 12-15 and test my urine. and if its positive, I will go back again for scan becos she is expecting me to ovulate on CD 15. SIGH! i already told her my cycle is 35 days, how can I ovulate on CD 15? and she reply me " you never know". and she ask me " why did you do natural IUI?" and I reply her back " cos Dr Sadhana ask me to?" I feel like KKH has a statistics for everyone, like they expect everyone to have a 28 day cycle and ovulate on CD 15. the review after each scan is not personalized and its only 1 min? I walked out very puzzled everytime. Alot of questions in my head but I dont have the chance to ask. they are always in a rush.
I will stop gg to KKH after this cycle. I would prefer private as I think the gynae will better assess our condition better and be more personalised.

:)

Charnel,

Thankfully, i chanced upon ur post and decided to share my experience. I'm glad im not alone.

One thing that pissed me off with KKH is that the doctors & staffs are so busy which sometimes makes ne wonder if i am still under 'private' scheme. This makes them operate under a set of SOP (Standard Operating Procedure), giving us some standard answers like in ur case of 'every ladies will ovulate in CD15'.
Also the gynaes do not the time to sit down and explain in detail, as there are many others waiting in line.

Nevertheless, let us stay calm & stressfree. Some man's poison may be some man's meat.
Maybe we r just plain unlucky and hope it turns out as a blessing in disguise.

Cheers, have a great Deepavali.

Hi everyone, don't mind if I join this group?

Hubby and I are on the 11th cycle (sighs!) of trying, I was put on Clomid for the first time and it showed very high progesterone levels as told by the nurse. In a way we were very hopeful, but it's 13 DPO now and I know AF is gonna come because of all the cramps and temp dips :( Went back to the clinic to get clomid again and the nurse was in disbelief that I'm not pregnant, now I feel even more upset...

i decided to just cry everytime i got my af. at least i let my frustrations out.

each time i ttc, i get real bloated.
to be frank, before i ttc, i was on diet pills, which in a way helps me to cut down on my bloatiness.

with the arrival of af and yet looking so pregnant, really makes it the more reason to cry.

at the same time, i grow out of my existing clothes real fast.

i find these all really devastating.

after i am down, i give myself new excuses to go shopping. ^^V

jayjayqueenie, I totally understand, I've cried buckets. Had a hard time trying to act normal at work today!

I also get bloated like crazy, looking as though 4 months preg, especially after eating. Clomid has made it worst too.

Welcome to ur 1st post :)

Dun be so stress up, have ur husband & u went for any tests yet?

thanks Northern Lights! I'm craving support from all of you :)

Guess I've been coping better recently until this Clomid incident which wrecked me.
Clomid is supposed to aid in ovulation, taken on CD2-6, how about Letrozole?

We've been through all the necessary tests like HSG, SA and there is no real problem.
Ah forgot to mention I have regular cycles to start with.

Same for Letrozole too, CD2-6.

We went for those tests as well, except im not ovulating & sperms morp at 1%.

Dun think too much & too much stress r not good for us.

i would say hsg is a plus.
sorry if it seems like i am promoting it, lol.
many of my friends got pregnant a few months after hsg. that includes me. it gives me a feeling that it actually "clear" our tubes, giving passage way for sperms to go through.
i have a crazy thought of going for hsg a 2nd time.
i mean, our working life, sitting all the time, who knows if our period is really cleared entirely and naturally.
that's where all our endometrisis come.
