Hi wknrayden,
This is my second baby, first one I got De Quervain's tenosynovitis too.. and a bit of carpal tunnel as well.
De quervains: pain over the radial side of the wrist ( thumb side) and locking feeling. no long term side effects
Carpal tunnel: numbness, tingling over thumb, index and middle fingers. if severe/ persistent over mths-> years, can cause permanent numbness and weakness due to nerve compression.
Due to carrying 1st baby too much. baby got too heavy as the months past and i was still BF so had to carry.
I massaged the area myself/did gentle stretching/rotation exercises aka self physio and it got better, but if it doesnt, can go for jab if its really disabling. main thing that helped is posture changes, once the symptoms start, quickly change posture/use another way to carry baby. it went away by itself.
there are some GPs who can do the jab but just check that the doc u see is confident and competent to do it, otherwise can see hand surgery specialist if prob is really bad.
hope that helps abit.
gld to see the forum still going strong, ,dropped out for a while cos was too busy
(as we all are).
hang in there! for mommies who worry abt baby sleeping thru the nite, usu happens at 4-6 mths.
my 1st boy (ignatius): woke every 3-4 hrs for milk, slept thru at 4 mths. but he was great during the day, took 2 hr naps, had a good schedule.
this 2nd girl (alethea): sleeps continuously 8-9 hrs at night.. but is a "terror" during the day.. doesnt sleep more than 45 min each time. when awake, wants to be carried and entertained. heh, so dun be too envious of those whose baby's sleep thru the nite early. I'm trying out the E.A.S.Y. schedule to get her into a more regular schedule.
bottom line is: i read that babies sleep 15 hrs total at 3 mths (eg. 10 hrs during nite, 5 hrs in the day eg. over 3 naps)... but its up to them how they want to space it.. the rest of the time they need to be awake to play and grow..
God bless all your little precious ones too!
