I also stayed in Tmc and find the nurses quite good. I think different lvl have different service. I stayed on lvl 5. nurses were attentive, friendly and willing to guide me to breastfeed my baby. but my milk did not come until I reach home.

the only thing I don like about Tmc is their bed. I think KK's hospital bed is more comfortable as I was previously hospitalised due to threatened miscarriage few months ago.

Hi snow_tea, I was at level 6 previously.. They made a blunder when confirming my ward during my admission too.. Luckily I have not gave birth.. I was left in the wheelchair with the exposed delivery gown at the level 6 corridor for quite a while.. Thank goodness I have my jacket with me to cover myself so as to avoid indecent exposure.. The nurses took quite a long while to come even when one pressed bell for assistance.. Seems short-handed.. They pushed the nursery cots like F1 drivers.. Scary.. Also, one can hear the cleaners bang the pails in the wee hours like 3am.. I really could not sleep well as I am a light sleeper..

LM, I feedbacked to the senior nurse. But, u know what? She was very adverse to the feedback.. Saying this bed is new.. Just bought etc.. How can it not be comfortable.. -.-"" I was like.. So what if it was new.. I had backache throughout during my stay.. ESP with the c-sect wound, it was terribly uncomfortable.. I dread getting up/down the bed to go to the washroom.. Felt my wound going to tear each time.. Had hard time taking my meals on the bed too..

Hi KarBear, I was in a 2-bedded ward.. The ventilation quite bad.. Regretting to be assigned a bed near the window... Once they increased the room temp, my area will be very stuffy.. I nearly went into a panic attack cos can't breathe..

eh.. glutinous rice only thing is digestive problem, nt easy to be absorb by body. but mochi ( jap style ) is beaten till sticky &amp; the texture is different.

Not in the list of do not eat food list, so shld be ok.

OH!!!!! rem another good outlets to buy Japanese mochi - Ichiban suchi, ichiban boshi, Kuriya, Kushinbo.

Korean food also have mochi rice stick.

The other type that you can chk it out as it's also mochi ingredient will be dango.

Last night talked to hb about my concerns on CL feeding bb too much, but he feel that CL feeding portion is alright and he said that she got more experience .. Asked me to monitor if still happened a lot of milk vomit out case. I kind of give up ...

Today feeding tracker :
- 9am bb wake up, CL feed bb 60ml fm + 30ml bm
- bb can't sleep from 9am, looking around and start to make noise ...
- 11am CL want to feed again with fm but I stop her and said let bb latch first. Bb managed to latch for 15mins then fall asleep.
- 12pm bb wake up again and made noise, CL said must feed again with fm then bb only can sleep well. I afraid she feed too much, so I help her to make 30ml fm.
- bb fall sleep from 1230pm till 3pm n wake up, make noise again. I let her latch ... She latch both side for 1.2hrs then fall asleep for a while n wake up again.
- 4pm CL feed her with 60ml FM. Bb sleep again till 7pm
- 7pm I let her latch for half an hour.
...

Bb is 15 days old, is she eating too much? By latching, I can't estimate how much she drink from my bm ... CL always commented that bm is just water and bb still need fm to get full ... Is it true?

Envy u gals got milk leaking issue. I already more than 2 wks but dun have milk leaking n I didn't pump or bf at night. My last pump always done at 10pm then next morning wake up pump or bf again around 8am. Wonder how to get more milk supply .. I already drink a lot n eat a lot of fish.

One of the nurses very rough when taking my blood pressure readings.. She's also the one that scolded me in the toilet... Looked at me very fiercely saying my BP very high etc..

Pocket pig, if at night dun pump, milk supply will drop, I either pump or latch on at least once around 3 am, my last pump could be abt 11 or 12 mn then morn wake up latch bb at 7 am

Ur bb abt 15 days should be drinking ok for the amt u mention, cos now I'm at day 8, bb drinks abt 70 to 80 ml at times abt every 2 hrs or so. Diff bb will require diff amt , if ur bb is full they will push out the teat or nipple, just see what the bb reactions

even pump interval 3 hours also max 40ml.

Not true about BM just water &amp; need FM, as last time no FM, bb only take BM. Just that BM is 90% water and need to latch more often as bm easier to digest but healthier compare to FM. &amp; becoz BM consist more water, so no need to feed plain water or even scare they dehydrate.

Feed too much FM will also mean bb over nutrition n u will see michelin type of bb.

By right, feed FM, might be 3-4 hours interval 60ml-80ml. Anything more than that might be too much.

60ml fm 4pm -7pm... which is health. but if 2hour more than 60ml, then might be too much based on what u wrote. Every bb's feeding amt might diff, but 1mth old n below newborn... usually is 40-80ml every 3 hours

Initially I was hoping that I will get a room on lvl 5 cos they will always bring visitors to lvl 5 for the hospital tour. therefore when doing the admission, was secretly hoping can give me a ward on that lvl.

another matter would like to check with mummies here. how do you select the PD? My gynae selected him for me but I went to search for his reviews and realise he's not very recommended by other parents.

Any recommendations for good PD? And is it alright to change halfway cos my baby will be taking her 2nd jab for hep B next month.

RE: Nurses at TMC
I was also staying in Level 5 the single premium ward. The nurses there are very nice leh. I remembered one nurse (young lady dunno from china or not) also accompanied me to the toilet cos worried I will faint due to high BP. She even helped me changed pad etc. Very paiseh but she really helpful.

RE: Milk supply
My milk started coming in on Day 3 or 4 but supply quite pathetic. Then had blocked ducts. Luckily massage lady (Mdm Ida) came yday &amp; she very good at clearing the ducts. Her body massage so so but she good at clearing blocked ducts. Last night supply started coming in &amp; today she came to massage again and made sure no blocked ducts. I noticed my supply really increased by afternoon. I got her no. from one of the mummies here that posted her contact no. in this thread much earlier. Anyone needs, just PM me ya.

I used back my #1 PD Dr Ong Eng Keow during our stay at TMC. He specialised in Neonatal care. He moved to Mt A but still comes over to TMC if there are requests for new born. You can change to other PD or GP or polyclinic for your baby's future jabs. That's what I intend to do. Bring my baby to nearby PD or my GP for his future jabs. Lesser crowd &amp; nearer to my house.

Gynae check at 39, 1 today. Bb is 2.8kg so very good weight to reach full term, even beyond. Water ok, no cord around neck, so gynae says only reason I want to induce is if I'm worried about infant movement...

Decided to wait out and marinated some pork belly for braised pork belly dinner tmr.. Kids looking forward to them ;D

Wow I don't mind sweet indulgence!! ESP firing confinement! With red beans fine??? Gosh thank you thank you, kirusu. You will make my confinement very tolerable!! Yes one thing I can stand about confinement is the lack of dessert (red date tea not counted, it's a drink)...

Actually I find it irritating how many CLs claim they work for many years yet cannot have the sense to step back when they have to...

FM is certainly more filling, and since it takes longer time to digest, it lengthens time between feeds. It's like us eating buffet. You eat for lunch then can skip dinner Liao. I do not think it's necessary for the bb to get stuffed like they are at buffet every single meal. Neither nutritious nor good for stomach. It is definitely easier for the CL I think. Worse it is very very discouraging for first time mothers...

Mummies with CL who want to bf
Can ask CL to bring you the bb at night for feeds? That's what I did and am going to do. You still wake to pump anyway, might as well feed. Only thing is you don't have to do is to change diaper after that... More trouble for them but it'll be better to stabilise milk flow...

The pd selected for you is to check bb after delivery and for discharge. There isn't an obligation to prolong your relationship further than that if you dont wish to. Some mummies here are bringing the bbs to gp or poly for jabs.

Snowtea, the PD was selected by my covering gynae.. Apparently my gynae will also use him if there's any prematured babies as he's specialized in this field.. I might also change PD after my baby is more stabilized as the PD's clinic is at novena medical centre. Quite inconvenient to travel so far.. Also, worried about the terrible jam at PIE when travelling.. If take cab, heart will bleed..

Just sacked my confinement lady today. Going to do it by myself with my helpers.. and will cater food for confinement. I absolutely agree that some CL pretend that they have x number of years of experience..but knowing that actually we also have no way of checking. I got her through an agent..so agent came over and we settled it today. Luckily i took photos as evidence, so there was no disputing my complaints.

Just some examples of what happened:-
- she served me burnt food
- dun know how to bathe baby properly
- used table cloth to wipe the kitchen floor and then use on the table again

sigh..too many to say. and still dare to show me black face.

Not the same CL and agent, but similar story.

So I selected a CL months ago (in June) from agent's database, interviewed her and told her my expectations in terms of cooking, baby care etc. Around 20 Dec or so, agent suddenly me that the original lady has to go for an eye op, is it ok for her to send a replacement? Given the late date no choice..

But really so many issues with my CL, some similar to yours. When bathing my baby, I caught her on 2 occasions with the towel over my baby's face. My baby was crying so badly througout.. probably cause her large jade bangle was hurting my baby's neck and throat while she was bathing and turning her over. Scary!

Joey, I stayed in 2 bedded as well but at level 3. Service quite pleasant. The nurses r mostly Filipinos and they were very attentive. Always very patient. There was also a very nice china nurse who helped me to change and clean my wound. I find that the foreign nurses are more nicer than our local nurses. I overheard our local nurses gossiping and complaining at the reception counter. So unprofessional.

After reading the experience with the horrible CL, I'm glad my mother is doing confinement for me. At least I know this is the 4th time she's doing cos 4th grandchild.

Yeap. Told her to remove..she said can not, too tight. If you are really in the line of doing this work, why would be wearing a large jade bangle on your left hand? And having long finger nails?

I rest my case.

I feel very relieved and happy now - cos things are under control and I do not feel so scared that my baby may be hurt. Could not sleep past few days cos I kept waking up at night to check on the baby. And my 2 helpers also reassure me that they can handle the kids and work, and can rotate to do the night shifts. Yes, even my new helper whom I complained about earlier - she took the initiative to come and ask me how she can help..etc. I am actually really appreciative of their effort. The 2 of them told me that they were also shocked at the way the CL were handling my girl.

Review on Mt E
Generally ok. Dr Ong is awesome - he visited everyday, even on Sunday. The lactation consultants are also really good - Lee Lian and Ling. I didn't think much of the nursery nurses - I know they are busy with many babies, but I also think they try to bully the new mums. They each have their own advice to give on your baby (latching, etc) and some of this is conflicting advice. They also gossip about the mums and babies in the nursery (I was in a corner trying to breastfeed as my baby wouldn't stop crying).
Delivery ward - NG (pronounced Angie) is absolutely the best nurse there. I really appreciated her thoughtfulness and care during my long labour (1 Jan - 3 Jan). The rest of the nurses just couldn't compare to her.

Also, try to request for a room in Ward A instead of B. Renovations are ongoing and can be irritating. And after the first night when I was confined to the bed (emergency c sec), I swopped places with my husband cos getting in and out of the bed made my c sec wound hurt. The sofa is firmer and more comfortable to sleep on. May not apply to you if you deliver your baby naturally..
