Playgroup starts 18 months:
meaning this year Jul?
I'm looking for nearby 2 hours playgrp too, lazy mum don't want to waste time on travelling :p
besides,reg fee, uniforms, insurance, mat'l, we need to pay for the month of Dec too.
 


morning all.

most likely I will juz send my boy to AppleTree - 2hrs playgrp which is very near my place. My intention is to let him socialize and free up some time for MIL. But if 2nd 1 comes along, I will send him to half day CC.
BTW any1 know if AppleTree need to reg early? Coz last year I saw the registration only start end of the year for Yr2008 BB.

Any1 heard of Learning Vision CC? Any feedback?

decmum, rulang is a very gd school wor. Yar,i also heard one got to start 2 yrs ahead for volunteering for gd schools. Coz my manager's boys are in catholic.

- sleep at 10+pm
- last milk feed 12+
- nvr brush teeth yet.
- sleep thruout the nite: most of teh time unless teething again.
- do they still drink milk after last milk feed: huh?
- morn: 7.30am usually
btw my boy always scratches his head whenever he wants to sleep.

hi weiting, my boy is also a nite owl. He sleeps at 10+. but there was once he sleep at 12! coz he was watching the Mummy Returns with us! kekeke. But i think i better beware after hearing the ADHD thing...
 
snowpear: some parents will leave their name on the list even though registration has not opened. So come registration time, the names on the list gets priority, and not forgetting also priority for those whose siblings are already in the school

my child still wakes up every 3-hrly at night at 1 yr...

snowpear>I read ablog where the mom sends her boys for LV cc. Quite like what she describes so considering sending my boy there when he is older.

LV after subsidy is about 500+ for full day the last I checked.
 
My case on bb waking up to drink: 13 Jan I posted here saying my gal still wakes up at 3 or 4am to drink... 14 jan I try give her 240ml (8 oz) milk to drink for last feed usually around 9.30pm...she finished up all and woke up at 6am! wow! (I still thought she will be too full so that time only give her 210ml n she keep waking up around 4am to drink!) now in total she drink 3 times in IFC (180ml each) + porridge+bread then reach home after 'school' I will feed her porridge @ 7pm + last feed of milk 240ml @ 9.30pm. Last month was 9.5kg when the teacher took her weight in IFC..
 
Einnoc, ya lor.. Really have to becareful with the kids. They're so accident prone. When shay fall and cut her gum/lips i so headpain ley.. She bleed so much and cry like mad. I also kan chiong like mad. Haha.. But she's fine now.

Dreamz, u're not alone. Shay still wakes up many times at nite. Also abt 3hrly. I already give up hoping for a gd nite slp. Hehe..

Lv consider mid range from my understanding. And if ur work plc hv lv- super duper cheap!! My fren send her kid to workplace lv.. Only 1xx per mth! If not, ard 600-700 range.
Pats is 1k range. Odyssey is 1300 range ( all pxs r full day after 300 subsidy)

Janis- I stayed in Punggol for 6yrs! Haha. I like my old cc- character Montessori. U can google for their website. Cheri hearts in anchorvale also not bad I heard. Shekniah montessori is v academic. If hv even more budget... Bridge montessori Is gd

Hv a new Cambridge cc.. And kinderland also expanded. Can check them out.

Fyi, some schools engage external vendors to drill students for this competition. Some schools will handpick a group of pupils and a school teacher will drill them instead. Depends on schools. But they are still sitting for the same paper wor.
 
anyone heard of james schoolhouse at dempsey? is it good?

anyway, is childcare only for 18mth to 3yr old only? hence, is that why need to search for presch separately??
 
anyway, some schs such as mindchamps at phoneix park and lorna whiston r pretty good too. can consider if it's near your office/living area.
 
may>my friend wanted to send her boy to james schoolhouse but it was totally full. She started the search when he was less than 6 months. Ended up she choped a space at their new place at HV for when he turns 2 years old.

heard mindchamps is v ex
 
may: i think too late for St James liao. People register when baby is 1 month old :p Cos this place is affordable and good. Lorna Whiston is good for kids who are dyslexic and i heard their speech and drama is very good. Think mindchamps fees are about pat's fees.

my colleague sends her son to lorna.. okie la... it's quite fun actually. they have many thematic activities.

it's more language-based, so i think it trains the linguistic skills.

how much is Pats again? what is the usual rate for preschool too?
 
may: yah lor, i read about it and I was like HUH?!?!? My colleague's wife also did that when child was just a few months old hahaha. LW is good at speech and drama. Pat's half-day is $960, full day about $1300. Preschool range from $200 to $2000 bah i supposed. Maybe MTDT knows hehe.
 
YL, I got 2 forum friends putting their gals at Sjck. They stay at buona vista n holland v area. I think it's a good school but maybe take school bus more convenient if u want to send ayden there. Personally, I prefer schools that r nearer to home. Hee. Mindchamps is also near to us but exp, I think Liverpool sends all his 3 kids there though. Maybe, can ask him for comments?

zach's sch will be charging 1180 after 18 mths old. duno whether want to change anot.. duno why this year like almost no kids at childcare.

assuming i dun change jobs, i dun mind putting him at mindchamps, cos more en route to work.

Pats also not bad, cos got quite a few along the way.
 
cala>think K1 maybe still difficult cos most of places would be reserved for those who studied nursery there, no?

anyway, think its a bit far for my boy to travel from Bedok to Dempsey at such a young age. I think kindergarten will be whereever he has his nursery too so easier for him to adapt.

May: if u wan to transfer him, must register him oredi. Some schools r full le, like the one I register for Noah is full liao.

Yl: ya too far la. I stay Clementi I also find it too far to go Dempsey everyday. And totally agree with u that best is find a school that offers pre nursery classes all the way to k2.
 
YL, yup I thought that too. But in the end, I still have to change school for RaeAnne cos 18mths I put her at RC playgroup (opp my house but they don't have nursery - k2). Now that she's 3 yrs old, then I change school. Think I may do the same for Raelynn cos that RC playgroup is cheap and the teachers are very friendly and patient. Even though children are not toilet trained or toilet training, poo and pee in the classroom, they also never scold. Lots of singing and games. Anyway, to me, in the beginning, PG just for her to socialise and make friends, the curriculum not very impt yet. Maybe when older, then let her join her sister at Elfa. ;)

But the good thing is that the child really adjusts faster second round compared to the first time she goes to school. For her first school, she cried for 1 month (though 2 hrs class only). Second school, she whine &amp; whine but never cry much (though half day prog).

Mindchamps- personally I think they r over rated. All their programs hv bombastic names. At 1st, will go wow! But u ask abt wat exactly they do.. It all boils down to he same activities! Hehe... Their fees same same to pats.
I had a choice between mc and pats and both hubby and me decided on pats.

May- u lookIng at mc @ TPY? Hmm read alot of bad comments online.

Lw- wow one at alexandra/ one at east coast! May u staying near to me rt?? Haha. But lw is gd too. I visited alex cc with fren and was v impressed by them. Yes strong linguistic focus.

Think there r 3 reputable s&amp;d schs- JG / Act3 and LW. But can easily join their once a wk classes. Hehe

genesis: got a Bukit Panjang Methodist Church Kindie there...heard not bad. Not so sure though.
 
Mtdt, I work at Alexandra n my hubb works at river valley.. So any sch tt's within the balestier-Alex-rv triangle is ok for us.

Personally I feel near home is better. Then when u sick/ on leave/or days dun go back office, ur kid still can go sch Mah. Or when u go on no2 maternity leave.. How??

Mtdt, I think Pats at whitley and some others at Novena square r near but still gotta drive n not 'shun Lu' after knocking off. We prefer to pick one near hubb's office cos can deploy many cars to pick zach up if either of us are late.

LSnTYL - boh lah. i stayed in pgl for 6yrs. tat time searching for no1 sch. thus knows abit abt pgl/sk area.

then shifted to balestier last yr.. also has to search for new sch for no1.. so knows abit abt this area! :p

other areas - really just hearsay from frens nia
