After I gave birth, my postnatal with Dr Jen was similar to a regular gynae appointment (checking blood pressure, etc) but yes immediately after childbirth the gynae will ensure that all pregnancy or placenta tissues are removed from the uterus and there are no concerning bleeding or tears (which need to be repaired if any).
