Hi everyone, i'm around 6 weeks pregnant and just had our first ultrasound scan done. Moving forward, we will need to settle on a gynae soon. Based on my research, it seems like I can either go down the subsidized or private route. I'm leaning towards going for private due to the shorter waiting times.

So far I have went to thomson clinic in Punggol with Dr Woo Bit Hwa and Dr Adrian - wanted to check if anyone has past experiences with them to share. So far their antenatal packages seems quite affordable at $800 (not sure if this is a competitive price), with 15 visits included.

Does any mothers/fathers have good gynae to recommend, willing to explore more as I do not want to settle down on the gynae so fast. Appreciate any cost-saving tips too! Thank you!

My gynae was Dr Han How Chuan. Not sure whats his package now. But hes is very good gynae.

Other than gynae to explore, its important to explore maternity coverage too! I can recommend you my agent if you want to know more!

I’m currently with Dr Ng from GynaeMD, and it’s been a smooth experience. He’s patient, straight to the point, and doesn’t rush through consults, which I really appreciate. It’s a private clinic, but I haven’t had to wait long for appointments, and I like having that consistency with one doctor. I haven’t compared package prices much yet, but so far I feel it’s been worth the peace of mind.

I highly recommend Dr. Law Wei Seng — he’s my wife’s current gynae at Mount Elizabeth Novena, and we’ve had a great experience. He’s calm, clear, and reassuring. Wishing you a smooth journey ahead!

I completely understand the dilemma! When I was at 6 weeks, I also agonised over the private versus subsidised route. I eventually chose private mainly because I wanted that consistency of seeing the same face every time, which really helped calm my nerves. Those antenatal packages are definitely the way to go for cost-saving—I found that paying upfront for the visits saved us quite a bit of money in the long run compared to paying per-consultation. It’s such a personal choice, but for me, having a doctor who didn't rush through the appointments made the whole journey feel much more manageable. I actually ended up seeing Dr Ng, and I’ve found him to be really patient and easy to talk to throughout the process!
