IVF at KKH

take coq10 and royal jelly before eggs extraction. I also visited TCM Eu yan sang, took their med and went for acupuncture to strengthen the womb. Few days before ET, I started to take selenium and zinc so that embryos would want to implant. Also take something that helps the lining to thicken. Hope this helps!
Thank you.. yah im taking royal jelly, coq10, maca, prenatal vitamins, vit D, calcium for now until my next ivf.

My last failed cycle i was on tcm and accupuncture and still failed, i was also taking FH pro.

Does anybody knows if natural FET is cancelled, is it possible to do medicated FET in the following month? Or only can do after a month’s break?

Does anyone here has problem conceiving because both husband and wife are infertile? Me and my wife, both Singaporean Chinese, are willing to donate half or more of our embryos, provided the other couple are willing to fund our IVF treatment cycle. This is negotiable, if my wife (who is quite young at 32) can produce many eggs, then we may consider donating 2/3 or even 3/4 of our embryos, in return for fully-funded IVF treatment from the other couple.

Good try. However doesn’t mean younger can produce more egg and can have good quality of embryo. Just an example: what if produce 10 egg but only 2 are fertilize n only 1 is in good quality?

Since both are citizen you can go government hospital for the treatment n get the grant! You would need 3-5k cash only for those procedure depend on the drug your wife consume.

Hi all, I've been taking my jabs for the past week. Going for scan tomorrow. Hope all is well.

First time went for scan, I had 1 enlarge egg and had to postpone the injections until next menstruation. Doc gave bcp. When I got my menses, it only last for 1 full day. But the nurse told me it's ok. I was worried, but when she say it's all good and we can start on the jabs, I was sooo happy.

Just wanted to ask, is it normal to have a bit of cramps and a lot of discharge during this process? The discharge is similar to ovulation discharge but it's so much especially in the day. I'm thinking it's normal but just checking in with you guys who have experiences!

Also, do we really have to abstain from intercourse during this period? The nurse told me no sexual intercourse at all. Haha.

All the best for your cycle.
Discharge is normal, body’s reaction to the hormones. :)
If you are doing fresh cycle to extract eggs / oocyte, you have to abstain else what if the eggs are fertilized then extracted? Don’t want that to happen, yeah.

Hi,

I heard that we have to attend counselling before IVF. Is it compulsory? Any fee?

I have done my HSG and blood test. What's next? Can someone explain to me please because I'm new and first timer.

Baby dust to you all :)

Hi! Welcome! The IVF briefing is compulsory and costs about $390+- at KKH. You have to attend with your spouse and the process will be explained to you in detail. A doctor will also be present to address your concerns. You will be briefed in a room together with other couples.

It's my first time too, and will be doing the egg transfer this Monday. *prays hard baby will choose us as his/her parents*

Baby dust to you and everyone else too!

Hi Belle1605,

Thanks for answering my question. So it’s compulsory to attend the briefing. If we dont attend, we can proceed to the next stage?

So, what’s after HSG and bloodtest? Is it getting there soon or is there more protocols?

Because my leave are getting lesser and lesser. I hope it can last till the end of the procedure.

Because my leave are getting lesser and lesser. I hope it can last till the end of the procedure.

After the HSG and blood tests, we got an appointment to see the doctor who will advise on the next steps, such as your options, costs etc. Then we waited for about 1-2 weeks before we got a date for the briefing (yes, compulsory. No briefing, no IVF.).

After that, we had to wait for the first day of menstruation to call the clinic to do a scan, mine was done on the 3rd day of my menses. The first time wasn't good for me as there was an enlarged follicle which would interfere with the medications to begin IVF. I waited for the next month, came back for another scan and was all good to start on the injections.

Injections lasted for 7 days, came back for another scan. Prescribed 1 more day of injections, came back the next day for another scan. Then we got instructions for the last few jabs and back again for blood test 2 days later. That night, I took the Ovidrel jab and egg retrieval was scheduled for 36 hours later. I started my HL on this day.

Doctor will advise the egg transfer day, mine is on day 5. From here, it is just waiting and praying hard.

Yes, you will need a lot of time off work, but I was usually given MCs for those days I missed work. If it helps, you can explain to your superior. I did not inform mine that I was going for IVF, however, I did share that I am undergoing a fertility procedure and will need a lot of time off work. And thankfully, they were supportive.

Hope this addresses your concerns. It may differ for everyone, just sharing with you my story! :)

Hello, anyone can share what is the process like for BT? I am told to do my BT in the morning following TWW. Will we know our result on the same day?
Thanks in advance!

The results will be ready within 2hrs. If positive you will need to come back to collect meds. If negative no need to come back.

Hi everyone,

I'm new here, looking for some advice. I had one ectopic pregnancy (unplanned) about 10 years ago, removed left fallopian tube, and since then have not had any other pregnancies. Only recently we started to actively ttc. Just got my HSG results a few days ago and Doc said the remaining tube is blocked. Doc does not recommend tube surgery as she said it's gonna be high risk of another ectopic pregnancy. She recommended to go for IVF since we are both below 35 and my ovaries (and eggs?) are very healthy.

My only concern is that, should we go get 2nd opinion? Any recommendations which clinic or doctor to see? I just feel that maybe should at least try the surgery and ttc naturally first before jumping straight to IVF. Anybody did surgery to remove the blockage and succesfully conceived, can share with me?

We are already referred to IVF clinic at KKH, waiting for their call in 1-2 weeks. Meanwhile, are there any other treatments/remedies I could try to unblock the tube?

Thanks in advance.
Hello, like you, I had ectopic pregnancy in 2012 and I had to remove one my fallopian tubes by Charles Lim (Mt E) and the other was not looking healthy. I proceeded to KKH for IVF.

I failed a handful of cycles before I was diagnosed with hydrosalphinx, the remaining tube was emitting toxins, which made implantation impossible. Tan Heng Hao gave me 2 options: to undergo clearing of the unhealthy tube or to hack it off. If I were to hack it off, it means there is no way I can try to conceive naturally. I chose to hack it off cos I didn't want the unhealthy fallopian tube to hinder my chances of IVF and I didn't want another ectopic (Anyway, I was going for IVF, so why not)

I got pregnant the next cycle after hacking the diseased fallopian tube.

If I were you, I would not wait for things to happen naturally as @Excited daddy is right. The probability of IVF success goes down as time goes along (due to egg quality), so I would prefer to take things in my control.

Good luck!

hi ladies, is it necessary to go for HSG before starting on IVF? heard a lot horrifying story about HSG at KKH, are there alternative places to do HSG but still under subsidies?

Thanks!

I would say better to go - else if *touchwood* you managed to BFP, but due to the unhealthy tubes, you kenna ectopic pregnancy; you would really curse and swear yourself. Trust me, I've been there, done that.

I had my HSG done at KKH but due to the position of my uterus, the experience I had was quite painful.. other than that was ok, the nurses were nice

I guess different people has different pain tolerance level.. I am not sure about private hospital.. I did mine in KKH
But if you are doing ivf, better to do all the tests first to get clearance that you are ok to go ahead. Good luck!

Yes, i am thinking to do test first, but dont know can i make appointment just by call to do test only or must make appointment with IVF specialist and they will order the test. Also my understanding is if u decide to do IVF, then no need do Fallopin test, coz they get egg before the eggs go through tube . they only take 卵泡。 so doesnt matter if ur fallopin is block or too narrow. Only conceive naturally or IUI will require tube to be healthy enough.

If you mean HyPoSy, then yes it is very painful! I was prescribed Ponstan painkiller which was to be taken 2 hours before the procedure. The pain was worst when the foam dye was injected into the tubes (one at a time). It was akin to the most severe stomach pain, as if you have diarrhoea and is holding it in for dear life.. Super painful..!! The painkillers helped to subdue the cramps felt afterwards.

The saline salt revealed polyps in my uterus. The foam will reveal not only blocked tubes but also any polyps in them.

So this procedure is really helpful, especially if you want to do IVF.

Did the test on 19th Aug 2019, and cost about $260 after Medisave. You have to sit for 30 mins after the procedure so they can observe you. Go with someone, you will appreciate the support.

Anyone has HPV positive? I found out I am a thalassemia carrier, have a uterine polyp and am HPV positive (mild, should not interfere with IVF).

Hi All,
I'm new here. Currently at TWW. BT is on coming Monday. Does anyone experience any kind of pregnancy symptoms during TWW? I read somewhere up there that we will get the BT results in 2hrs and will have to go back to collect medicine if positive. Will they also schedule a gynae during this process or do we need to find our own gynae at this stage?

Did anyone try medicated FET with KKH? Could you walk me through the process please?
I am given norethisterone to take for 2 weeks as my period is messed up. Was told to call IVF center once my period is here. So what happens then, after 2 weeks of the medication, menses will come and what's next.

Must i take norethisterone for 2 weeks? Would it be ok if i take it for 10/12 days?

Reason i am asking because i am hoping that i can do the transfer mid Oct and clear my HL before i start my new job in Nov.

For me, i was asked to take norethisterone for 8 days...then rest for 3 days and see doc on the 4th day...then subsequently start my jab...

Dear Ladies,

I would like to seek your advice on which option I should take for egg donation.

These are my 4 options:

1) My doctor actually recommended me to look for my relatives as potential donors. I have a younger female cousin whom I am very close to, and I can certainly ask her. However, I am reluctant to do so, because I am afraid that the future child may learn about the secret of his or her conception. You know that sometimes it is difficult to keep secrets among relatives. Family secrets easily spill out after some time.

2) The doctor also told me that the government has recently allowed import of frozen donor eggs from a European egg bank. But upon searching their catalog, there were no Asian donors, only Caucasian ones. I am not comfortable with a Caucasian egg donor, as a Eurasian child will stick out like a sore thumb for a Chinese couple.

3) The nurse at the clinic discreetly hinted that I can secretly use a foreign egg donor agency, to arrange for an egg donor to travel to Singapore. But payment has to be kept absolutely secret because this is actually illegal in Singapore. However, the nurse hinted that the doctor and clinic will 'close one eye' and pretend not to know anything, even if they suspect that I am illegally using a paid egg donor from a foreign agency.

4) Then, there is also the option of going to Malaysia or Thailand for egg donation.

Wondering which route would you recommend? I am still thinking hard and considering all options.

Hello everyone,

We started on our IVF journey from June this year. First IVF cycle at KKH with Dr Sadhana started in late Oct.. I have low ovarian reserve, removed a polyp in Sept, partial blockage of both fallopian tubes.

Out of 9 follicles, only 7 eggs were extracted on egg retrieval day (Thurs). Out of these, only 4 were matured and thru ICSI, were inseminated with my husband's sperm.

The next day (Fri), clinic called to say none of the eggs were fertilised. However, one of the remaining eggs started maturing so we came down to give another fresh sample. We knew that eggs which mature late are of sub par quality but they were striving to save this cycle.

Sat, Dr called to say that last egg failed to be fertilised. Reason was all the eggs of this cycle were of poor quality. She also said there is no sure proven way to improve egg quality as egg quality remains largely dependent on age (I'm 37 yo) and ovarian reserves. However, she assured that each cycle is different and so we should try again in Jan 2020. This is to give my ovaries a break and a chance to heal from the numerous injections and egg retrieval surgery.

We are utterly disappointed.

Hi salgoodies, i know how u feel! I was in that position as well.. on my 3rd try i just gave all my best shot to try all means. I took lots of supplements for 3months before starting my 3rd cycle. Here are the list of supplements i took.
1. CoQ10 ubiquinol 300mg/day
2. Royal Jelly
3. Fish oil 3x a day
4. Pre-natal vitamins

I think i was only 28 when i started my ivf journey, and im already having bad quality eggs. 1st and 2nd cycles there are eggs tat is fertiliseD but always 2embryos survived in the end and they are only day2/3, as they are not that good quality i would say. But we still proceed to do fresh transfer for this 2 cycle and it failed.

On my 3rd cycle we got 4 embryos that reached blastocyst and ofcos its a good news. We did a frozen transfer with my 2 embryos and 1 succeed to implant and im currently 7months pregnant.

Dont lose hope and everything shall come in the right time. Condition your body and have faith that you will received your miracle soon.

The IVF journey is really a trial & error and all of us who going thru this journey are all hopeful. Just do what we can to have a successful journey.

BABY DUST TO ALL OF US.

Thank you for your kind words. We have been trying to conceive naturally unsuccessfully between Nov until now. With this epidemic, looks like we may need to wait yet again..

Maybe can try use Pre-seed for natural conceive, just don’t give up....
read ur previous post, I also started my IVF journey at KKH 3 years ago, ER 3times and failed 3 fresh cycle then I switched to private had 2 back to back ER only got 1 blast to frozen. Doc always encourage me can try natural conceive and it did happened, I BFP naturally just 1 month before my scheduled FET! And I’m older than you, so pick up confidence ur rainbow baby is there waiting for you!

Hello guys! Been silently lurking for awhile  I just went for my first IVF round and we’re opting to do FET and freeze our embies at Day 5 because my stim was too long for the lining to be viable this cycle. Does anyone know when KKH will call to inform about your Day 5 blastocysts? It’s literally Day 5 now (did egg retrieval on Friday) but I haven’t heard from them. Super nervous about attrition rate because I only have 2 embies.

Would be great if anyone has past experience to share!!:)

You could call them and enquire. I received a call on day 3 with updates that 3 eggs of 6 extracted were fertilised and that I need to come on day 5 for transfer. Was originally told that I might have to go for FET due to extended stim as well. Managed to do a successful fresh ET and am 8 weeks now. :)

Hi I also just went through 3 cycles of ivf and all failed. Am now thinking what else I can do including tcm. Would u recommend tcm eys? Did it work for you?
