IVF at KKH

Hi GTFT , a warm welcome to you to our forum ... and very Glad to read ur Long post ! But you sound so pro with all the abbreviations. 2WW means 2 weeks wait ? I really don't have the doctor or anyone spoke to me about blastocyst . What's that again ? Also what's Low AMH?

Anyway, I m much older than u, going to be 39 next month , I also have 6 good eggs retrieved boosted fr 4 only. The actual follicles when I first scan - I saw the list - at least 6 on each side but only 3 on each side made it to be retrieved . On ET day, only 3 eggs are fertilised to the right standard. 2 were transferred to me and 1 was frozen at the point of ET, the fate of the other 3 Not sure yet . I will know on my preg test day . I am now on day 4 only after ET. I already broke all the rules. Missed my daily coffee. Took one Super small diluted cup ; probably about 15 ml . And took some papaya and brought my 4 y/o to supermarket ; 1 hour after my last insert of progesterone. I think I loose patience and faith by 4th day. I have a very passive hubby , it was my ultimatum when I took car key n drove out with my maid n Son to supermarket. It was about 45 mins buying grocery trip. With lost of temper n going around - my gf quickly tell me to go home n rest.
I rested another hour on bed before I check on my Son n do some painting with him. I prayed Everyday but sometimes I thought to myself - if it's meant to be yours , it will be yours . Otherwise I blame my husband for not letting me rest ! Haha .

But all said n done ; it's really tough for someone like me - quite restless and extrovert to be bed resting a good 15 days. I might go crazy. Yet I am so scared after so much effort ... I m hoping for positive news.

Also my dr is dr Jerry Chan ; I am not sure is it because it's his style - but he seemed very chill and even chatty during ET with me. Is it because I have 1 child already ? But I really want to give him another sibling and I do want more babies !

Any food / diet restriction during the 2WW? No raw stuff , no half boiled egg and no pineapple - correct ? Papaya ? Fruit juices ? Can ?

Worried me :(

Hi Sweetpaine,
Thanks for the warm welcome! I posted on the other thread what i did during the 2 WW (i.e. 2 week wait) which helped me to feel better. Hope it will be of some help for you too :)https://singaporemotherhood.com/forum/threads/apr-may-2017-ivf-cycle.219981/page-3#post-8520811

A blastocyst is "An embryo that has developed for five to seven days after fertilization and has 2 distinct cell types and a central cavity filled with fluid (blastocoel cavity)". You can read more about it from http://www.advancedfertility.com/blastocy.htm. But at KKH, my understanding is that blastocyst transfer is not an automatic option for everyone, so will have to see what your doctor says.

AMH or Anti-Müllerian Hormone, is a hormone which can be measured using a blood test. The test gives an idea of the ovarian reserve, or simply whether there are many eggs left in the ovaries. This website explains more and has a table of what is considered low AMH: http://www.advancedfertility.com/amh-fertility-test.htm. Normal range is from 1.5 - 4.

I am actually going to turn 37 this year, but did the AMH test when i was 36. So we are about the same age! (Hi-five!)

On resting, I didn't put myself on a regime of resting all the time. I rested/slept when i felt tired. But i was definitely sitting most of the time except for my twice daily walks (mentioned in my other post) and short trips downstairs to get meals.

On food restriction, I didn't touch any non-fully cooked stuff i.e. not just raw, but even half cooked like eggs or steaks. But i have been doing that even before IVF as i have a sensitive stomach and i don't want to cause runs to the toilet. I didn't stay away from particular types of fruits during IVF or the 2WW. I got a little constipated mid-way and consumed bananas for that (bananas somehow always do the trick for me).

After KKH gave me the blood test result, i did ask TCM if there is anything i should stay away from. She said that absolutely no "dang gui" - Sisters here may want to take note of that as this is found in some food prepared with herbs e.g. soups, herbal roasted duck.

Stay positive and all the best! Don't think or worry too much! I know it is not easy - at one point, i even started stressing over feeling stressed - haha, what a worry wart i was! Find yourself some distractions!

mine insert tablets. 3 times a day at 8am,3pm and 12am. i walk quite alot in the house to take stuff. these 2 days having cramps. i transferred 3rd day embryo and today is the 4th day transfer

Don't carry heavy stuff, mine is a 3rd day 10 cells embryo. Rest more and don't walk too much.

mine is grade 4. grade 5 is the best. but they say 4 and 5 not much difference.

wait for ur BT ba. meantime continue with ur insert n bed rest as much as u can or watch some comedy drama to make ur time pass faster

i'm wondering anyone inside here has a high level of HCG but only scan is a singleton? as i normally thought high level in HCG is always result in having twins

Everyday woke up at 7am to insert the med then 9plus woke up for bfast and then 12 plus had lunch, won insert crinone gel, sleep all the way to 4 to 5pm, dinner then sleep at 1030pm, the time when I am not on my bed is on my sofa , I don't walk much :)

Can I ask u slept sideways on lie flat on ur back?

Hello all,

We have been trying for a year and without luck.

We would like to get a referral to KKH from the polyclinic.

1) What do you tell the polyclinic doctor that you need a referral to the KKH IVF clinic?
2) Who should make the appointment with polyclinic? Is it the husband or wife?

cheers cindy

Tell doc u have been trying for a year yet no news. Request doc for referral letter to see specialist. It is easy. They will book first appt for u

Cramp started on day 9 after transfer, before that I am good, no other symptom, btw did u rest after inserted the crinone gel?

I insert prognova. I did lay for at least 15 mins. I only experience cramp on day 3. Yesterday I had pimple outbreak which usually means my menses is due soon. I guess it doesn't work this time again. ;(

Hello all , How come everyone gone quiet ? It's my 5th day post ET, totally no feel . Are you or are you not supposed to feel anything first 2 weeks or not ?

This reply came a bit tooooo late! Forgive me! How selenge of me to miss a notification!

Thanks for the recommendation @Fafy. I've just had ER done on Monday, 2nd cycle. I'm praying that this time my eggs could make it to ET. I hope you've had your success story. Best wishes. ❤

Its ok dear. :) i also didnt log in here for very long. Trying to gather my spirits again. And i finally did. I wish i had my success story to share. But not yet. Currently going for another round of fresh cycle. So did u manage to do ET?

Hi i am doing ICIS. so far 17 eggs retrieve. 14 of them joined but left 11 on day 3

Hope to have some views from some of the ladies here.

Today is my 1st follow up appt with the doctor following my 1st failed FET slightly more than 2 weeks ago. Doc did a scan and says my lining is about 7.5mm (CD13) and suggested I do 2nd FET transfer on this cycle which I asked if its too soon or should I just wait for 1 more cycle. She says its ok and common for FET to be back to back since no stimulation is needed.

She prescribed progynova to further build my lining and scheduled me to go back on next Monday to do another scan before they determine the date of the transfer. I have remaining 4 blastocyst.

I'm looking forward but not too sure if it's really too soon.

Would like to know if anyone here ever did a back to back FET transfer and had a BFP?

Hi Cindy,

Just tell the doctor you've been trying for a year and would like to be referred to the hospital for further tests etc. He will ask which hospital u want, whether NUH kkh or Sgh. It will be under wife's name

Hi ladies!
I thought I'd share my experience here..

I had my first fresh ivf cycle in Feb 2017, we had been ttc for about 3 years. We initially went to a private gynae but after 2 rounds of clomid we went poly n ask for referral to kkh. Got assigned to doctor Jessie phoon. After all the usual rounds of tests Dr phoon recommended that we do ivf due to male factor. She left it to us to decide whether to wait or do right away, but she did caution that for my hubby case it could get worse so she offered to freeze his sperm. But we decided to proceed with ivf. At first my hubby didn't like her because she can be quite blunt. Lol.
In order to prepare hubby n I ate ttc multivitamins we bought on iherb about 1-2 months before ivf. I was put on short protocol. 9 follicles and 8 eggs retrieved. Given my (lack of) history n young age she suggested we go for 1 good 5 day blastocyst. Thank God there was a good one on the day of ET. Froze 4 embbies. I took HL during my 2ww but also continued to do light housework n cooking because I was bored. Watched lots of kdrama's n tried to eat healthy. Also ate the progesterone pills which makes one feel like vomiting. Thank God we managed to get a BFP.
Overall I'm quite pleased with Dr Phoon. She can be brief but I always felt assured that she knows what's she's doing. My friend who is studying to be a gynae at kkh told us that she is one of the more skillful consultants. When he heard she took our case he said that we are in good hands. The kkh ivf n clinic D nurses are also very motherly, just that the queue to see doc/scan can be such a pain sometimes.
All the best for all the ladies who are ttc! ~~babydust~~

I m also sore breast only ; days passed again ... day 7/8 now ... still no feel ... but chose not to walk Long , not comfortable ; probably it's in the mind ... I walk very slow compared to my usual pace...

I'm also assigned to Jessie Phoon. Quite a god impression on her. She asked to do transfer one good grade embryo of the day and mention that I have higher success rate. She seems quite confidence on my case. I am now on HL. Hopefully to get bfp

Hi, I have just done my frozen embryo transfer. Is there any food recommended to eat or avoid? Bird nest? Red date drink?
