IUI at Raffles Hospital?

Hi blang,

I think 2-3 will be good. As someone mentioned above, she had 7 eggs but the doctor does not do IUI. I think the doctor fears that there will be more than one or two babies.

Hi Noscon,

The Fertility clentre at ME is at 2nd level. I cannot remember their working hours but i think you may have to make an appt with them.

Hi Sunnie, i did my iui at Mt E. nope

Gillian & Ronniemini > I was desperate for children... haha...so i had went through one cycle of IUI already last month, but unfortunately it was unsuccessful. My gynae suggested the next step was to go for ICSI. Today, i will be seeing another gynae for second opinion.

Ronniemini> when is your second attempt of IUI? Good luck to you. ;-)

Wow, That is great....** shoo AF away*** Hope to hear your good news next week. hehe.. very gan cheong for you.

I did my first IUI in Elizabeth hospital and just change my gynae. My new gynae suggest going for ICSI too.. so to increase chances.

i am sorry to hear that ronniemini. Don't be sad, okay. Jia you again next month.
What did you doc say? What are you planning next?

My gynae told me that something IUI does not work because the sperms are unable to penetrate to our eggs.

Nothing for me was done this month cuz DH was away during my O period. I am considering ICSI, have till end of this month to decide as i will seeing the doc then. But most probably I will doing it. I am actually quite scare about it.

Thank you too Ronniemini. Hope we can hear good news from one another soon ;-) I have been trying since this year. You lei?

hi ladies

I'm new to this thread, still contemplating whether to do icsi with Dr Sheila Loh or Dr LC Cheng

All of u with Dr Loh? can feedback to me how's she like? thanks

Hi Winniepooh > Welcome ;-). R u planning to go for IUI? I am with Dr Loh. I met her at beginning of the month. She is pretty nice.

Ronniemini> what scan are you going for?

hi sunnie

I've decided to go for ivf-icsi since problem lies with me & my hubby, not viable to go for IUI

Hi, does anyone has a good recommendation for TCM? My body has always been weak and I've been told to go to TCM to tiao my body first...

koala75

you can try Dr Tan Siew buoy from Thong Chai. She is the director of the infertility unit and has many years of experience in treating infertility cases....

Hi Winniepooh,

Oic.. we are all almost in the same boat. Great we can support and update each other on the process okay?

I had only one appt with Dr Loh on a weekday which i waitled about half an hour. I finished the whole appt within an hour. Not tried weekend yet. I do not find it is hard to get an appt with her.

Koala75,

The reason why I chose Raffles Hospital because they also offers TCM. I have not been to one yet but read from papers that some ladies benefits from it.

Anyone also been through IVF? Can share?

Hi Noscon & Sunnie,

Many thanks for the info. btw, may I know where Thong Chai is located and is it expensive? I'm quite afraid to take chinese medication in powder form, so hopefully they offer it in capsules heehee.

I've also read a recent article that Raffles Hospital offers TCM too but I'm already quite comfy with my present gynae so don't think I'll change for the time being.

And Dr Loh is from KKh?

Sunnie---> the scan is to check the how big is the eggs now.then can plan for iui.i will be goin for my iui tis coming week.i really hope that i will not need to go thru it again..
good luck to all of us...

sunnie,

we definitely have to support each other during the whole program, imagine the amount of pills & jabs we have to go thru already send shiver down my spine, but I only intend to see sheila on nov cos my laproscopy is just 3 weeks from now

I like to find out how much is Dr Sheila Loh's consultation charges? is her charges on the average or high side?

Winnie,

May I ask why you are doing the lap and where you are doing it cos my doctor has also advised me to do it and I was too blur at that time to ask exactly what is done, etc during the lap.

And you know how much it will cost, and can claim via insurance or mediasave cos I was told the cost is about 4k...

koala

I'm doing lap cos my gynae wanna check if my tubes were blocked then also doing ovarian drilling to clear my old eggs before I do ivf, I'm doing it at tmc with my current gynae. my gynae did suggest HSG but becos my pain threshold is too low so not possible so she advise lap

I was given a rough cost of $5K, can claim part of it by medisave and the rest have to pay cash, I told my gynae that I'm going to claim insurance so she has to write its not for fertility issue but for medical reason for my lap

Koala75> Dr Loh is now with Raffles Hospital, no longer with KKH.

ronniemini> Definitely. All the best and hope to get some baby dust from you 2 weeks later. ;-)

Winniepooh> If I not wrong, my first consultation with Dr Loh is about $85. And you mentioned the cost of $5K... is it for the whole ivf or just for the lap?

sunnie, $5K is just for lap, ivf-icsi rough cost is $12K to $14K, first attempt can claim $6K from medisave

Winnie

My gynae is also from TMC (TLC), how about yours? Is yours willing to indicate its for medical treatment cos I face the same problem too if its written as fertility issue.

I didnt know HSG is a painful procedure?

koala, my previous gynae is from TLC, but I find the waiting time very terrible & I not that comfy with her so changed to my current gynae, she will list out every details for me when she saw all the reports & refer my hubby to see an andrology which give the same conclusion

I'm not exactly sure if HSG is painful but since my pain threshold is extremely low, my gynae say is better for me to do lap & she'll show me what she did during the lap

wat problem u facing now? u can PM me if u're not comfortable revealing details here

Koala, I did the HSG. I was told it will feel like menses cramp during the scan. It was still ok for me. But the cramp return about few hours and lasted till the next day. I had a terrible evening after the scan.

Hi Winnie

ya lor the waiting time is horrible on weekend! weekday aftn is better but have to apply leave.. were you with dr chua? i find her better than my previous gynae but also becos she specialises in infertility hence i felt more at ease with her recommendations.

doctor suspects i may have endo, so asked if i wanna do a lap to be sure or i can continue with IUI. so i've decided to go for the lap for a thorough check. are you doing the lap on your 4th/5th day of menses? i've not gotten the exact date from doctor but i heard this from the nurse. I've been ttc for more than a year, how about you?

Sunnie - I'll check with doctor if she'll need to do HSG or not, cos she never mentioned about this before. Do you get any MC for doing HSG and how much does it cost?

koala, my previous gynae is dr chua, her weekday afternoon waiting time equally terrible, I ever spend 4 hrs in her clinic

my current gynae tell me to do lap when I'm not having menses, I've ttc for a year already

if u intend to do HSG, then no need to do lap unless ur HSG result is not satisfactory then gynae will suggest lap, HSG cost at tmc is quite cheap, shld be less than $300 & it'll not be done by ur gynae

Koala - the HSG takes about 15 mins only and I did my during lunch time, so I did not ask about MC. I think I paid about $200 for it.

Ronniemini - I will not be going for IUI anymore. My gynae suggested me to go for IVF instead. I told my boss about it because I will be taking alot of leave here and there. Thank God, he is quite understanding about it.
