Just sharing my experience:

Recently bought Pediasure Vanilla 900g from Jin Tai Tang at Pasir Ris.

Realised that Pediasure texture is different. Finer and dryer. Scoop also different. But stupid still gave to my boy. Then he Diarrhea for 5 days, before I suspected the milk. Look carefully before you buy! We thought save a few bucks, buy from medical hall...didn't expect this. Look carefully, the tin also has differences. The one on the left is the suspected "imitation" one.

I did an internet check: There is no such manufacturing place called "Holland Beilen Factory"

This is the original, made in Abbott Singapore factory.

the one u bought comes in malay wordings, should be from malaysia. I understand that the taste is different from the singapore made( all english wordings). hopefully it doesn't have imitations, but will take extra caution before i buy next time. Thanks for sharing.

Malaysia and Singapore Pediasure all taste the same coz both are manufactured in Singapore. It's just the Malaysia one is packed in Malaysia since it's for Malaysia market (so Malay wordings).

I called Abbott Singapore to check on this issue and they said there is no imitation Pediasure. What you bought could be from The Netherlands as Malaysia usually get to parallel import. Abbott Singapore said they have no right to control parallel import in Singapore as well so some medical halls do carry product from other countries (which are then re-packed in Malaysia, hence Malay instructions).

And as for diarrhea bit, Abbott Nurse advised it could be due to high nutrient contents as the formulation for Pediasure differs in each country according to their country's requirement. Some children may get diarrhea due to weaker intestine. She said she can't give further advise coz of the different formulation between Netherlands' and Singapore's.

I have relatives in Malaysia and 1 of my niece also diarrhea after taking this Netherlands Pediasure. This prompt me to contact Abbott Singapore after reading Yin's issue.

Whatever it is, I find the manufacturing site suspicious. I did a check on HOLLAND BEILEN FACTORY and indeed there is no such place. But when I checked on the address (De Perk 30...) the search returned with FrieslandCampina's site.

FrieslandCampina is the one doing Friso, DutchLady etc. So the address is for FrieslandCampina. Hmm... then I search for Abbott Pediasure under FrieslandCampina and the search came back with NOTHING.

A search under Abbott site revealed a totally different address for The Netherlands' manufacturing site.

So what can I say?
Imitation?
Maybe I should check with Abbott again regarding the address??

Hi frostee!
Any new updates from your research so far? Appreciate if you cld share !
I also kena a 2 cans of such "fake" pedaisure and indeed the texture of the milk powder is much drier and it comes with fifferent type of scoop....seems my boy had already finished one 1.8kg of it before i read your post n started comparing,....it did not occur to me to check the tins since we have been getting our pediasure from this source for the past year.....i just left it to my maid to make milk for my kid. Btw, my dad helpa to get my pediasure from a medical hall in jb...thought it is ok as normally the tins will state manufactured place as sin, only 2 tins out of this last batch of 4 tins we bought was frpmthe "suspicious" factory.....am going to hold back giving these to my son!!!!

I think you should not assume that the one you bought from the medicinal hall is 'imitation' as parallel imports are legal in Singapore. Food manufacturers localise production (to save costs, customise to market requirements etc) and the one from Netherlands is probably closer to the original product than those Made in Singapore anyway.

Example, a Made in Japan Toyota Camry is not exactly the same as one Made in Thailand but that does not mean that the one parallel importers bring in from Japan is inferior or fake.

Hi Yin,

Did u clarify with the shop which sells the milk? I know there are also such parallels for Nestle, Fernleaf etc too.
