Dr Sim Lee Ngor

Hi,
Had my 1st and 2nd children by Dr. Sim when she was at KK. Had my 3rd one with her when she went into private practice at TMC. Delivered at Mt.A though, cos did not like the parking situation at TMC, and like the services provided at Mt. A. (A lot of my friends and sil recommend Mt. A services highly to me).
Dr. Sim was highly professional throughout my 3 pregnancies. Understand that most docs. give professional medical advice, tend not to give emotional or personal ones where complications are concerned and important decsions have to be made by parents.
She was friendly, and willing to answer questions if you have any. In other words, my experience with her was good.
Can't say much abt her charges though, as I delivered more than a year ago. Prices may have changed since then. During my time, I found that her charges were quite comparable with gyna. of similiar experience and qualifications. That's why went back to her for my 3rd one, even when she was not with KK anymore.

don't really have a pleasant experience with her at KKH. I consulted her a few years back for not being able to conceive after a few years of trying. a no of tests done & merely seeing her for the most 4 times consultation & she suggested IVF! Her suggestion actually shocked me a bit b cos, I was thinking has she really access me completely? Didn't go back to her after the last visit. went to Dr HK Ho at Mt A & has since conceived, at my 7th months now.

Hi I'm new...Happy New Year 2008!

Just feel that I should say the following from the bottom of my heart:

Dr Sim was my first gynae. She is someone whom you will feel safe because of her professionalism. She is pro-natural birth. I am pleased with her service throughout my pregnancy. I also felt very touched for her concern after my delivery (I gave birth in 2006).

A woman of not many words, as compared to doctors I have seen, so she may appear aloof to some people. However, she gives precise diagnosis and comments. Her judgment given is based on her years of experiences and professionalism. She welcomes feedback.

I heard she was one of the nurses' favourite doctors in KK before she went private. In fact, she was highly recommended by my relative and friend who are nurses. You know, I believe that when you are in the same line, you know who to go to if you need help.

just found this thread. i too feel she's a great gynae. she delivered my 1st son in apr 07 at tmc. was recommended there by a gynae friend from kkh who herself also went to dr sim for both her babies. so i guess for a gynae to go to her, i believe she must be good.

definitely pro natural. doesn't want to perform c-section unless necessary. i requested that she do c-sect in one of my consultations because i scared of pain. in the end, she managed to convince me to use epidural if that is the case and go for normal delivery. didn't regret the decision. i could get down to walk after 12 hrs of delivery.

will go to her for my 2nd baby...

Hi all,

Just like to ask, does Dr. Sim speak fluent Mandarin? 'Cos my mum will accompany me on most visits, and since she is more comfortable with using Mandarin, I am keen to find a good female gynae who can converse in Mandarin so that my mum can join in the discussion too.

Does anyone know what is the cost of Dr. Sim's antenatal package from 20 weeks onwards? What items are included in the package? And what are her fees for a normal vaginal delivery?

Many thanks!

Dr Sim is a very professional and charismatic gynae, I really enjoyed my 1st baby-delivering experience (preggy to delivery to post natal) with her, her explanations on the scans and instructions in the labour ward are very clear. Of course, the process is still very painful, mine was natural without epidural. I like the fact that her clinic is in the hospital I delivered (TMC). She checked on me a few times in the observation room while waiting for my cervix to dilate. One incident was the midwife checked and told me my dilation was only 8cm (avg 10cm), not ready for delivery. She happened to step in and upon hearing this, immediately, she asked the midwives to go to the delivery ward because she remembered my baby was quite small at 3kg, should be able to deliver based on her experience, phew... shorten my hours of pain! My package was $700 for 11 sessions from Wk 12, I delivered at my 39.9wks (2 days from estimated due date in Nov 2007). Each visit includes consultation, urine test, scan with baby's photos to bring home. The clinic staff Janelle and Jesslyn are very friendly, helpful and experienced too. I have introduced my preggy frens to her and they are also very happy with her.

I bought the 700 package too. But I would like to suggest don't buy package from them cos the appointment date cannot be flexible. If I have something on and want to change to the earlier date they say it is not include in the package. I regret I bought the package from them.

hi lin lim!

you can change the apptmt date. i think you just have to let them know earlier about the change. i am always changing my dates and times and have no problem doing so.

don't feel paisay to do it.

while this may be way too late for earl_grey, Dr Sim speaks excellent Mandarin.

my mum went with me for my last appointment and asked her a lot of questions... ;)

SunshineG,

Haha, yup it's too late now as my daughter is already 4 months old! But I did engage Dr. Sim as my gynae, and was very happy with her professionalism, will definitely go back to her when I have my no. 2!

Hi lin lim, I had managed to changed my apptmt dates too as long as the slots I want are still available, not sure why your package can't change dates though... new policy?

To all mum-to-be, I guess the clearest is to give a call to the clinic to confirm the current package structure. I heard from my colleague that the package structure is slightly different now but she is happy with the current package (think no limit on number of times of consultation, start from wk 12 till delivery).

After my delivery, so far, I have 3 friends who had been delivered by her, 1 natural twin baby boys, 1 c-sect baby gal and 1 c-sect baby boy (coming soon), and we are all happy mums satisfied with Dr Sim's skill and service! Congrats to all new mum-to-be!

I still go back to her for my yearly pap smear and she forever look as radiant as ever!

Hi,

My daughter is delivered by Dr Sim in 29 Feb 2008. In fact, she has checked with me if I want my daughter to deliver on 28 Feb or 29 Feb (cos birthday is once in 4 years). She is cheerful and provides good advice throughout my pregnancy. She is also pro-natural birth and I saw her teaching one of her patients who has just delivered on breast feeding!
You will not regret choosing her as your gynae.

Hi,
I'm recently diagnosed with fibroids and am also trying to conceive. Went to 2 male gynaes previously and both gave conflicting views. Also, i still do not feel comfortable with male gynaes and so i'm looking for a female gynae to seek consultation and also in case i'm already pregnant. =)

Can anyone advise if Dr Sim is experienced in handling such 'problem' preganancies?

Thanks!

just an update on this thread since the last post was quite some time ago.

just had my baby delivered by dr sim on 26/02/2012. she is a very experienced doc who gives good advice. i was quite keen on getting a c-sect done and when she advise me on going natural with epi, i was quite upset. after all its my baby, my choice. but she managed to persuade me in the end. and till now, i have no regrets changing my mind the last min. she is a pro in natural delivery.

my whole birthing process was very fast, started pushing at 11am with the midwives. and i was having trouble. dr sim came in an all she took was 15mins and my baby was out at 11.58am. really really fast. my whole labour process from breaking of the water bag was no more then 5 hrs.

dr sim is a pro! fast, efficient and patient. i could walk the very day (after the epi wore off). no pain at all.

definitely recommending her and will go back to her for baby no. 2!

Hi eggtofu - I find ur post useful and would like to ask u about your experience with dr sim. Does she let u hear d heartbeat in first trimester ? I m now under d impression either she doesn't do dat or her u/s machine lousy ... She said too early to hear at my week 9 visit , but another gynae (her referral when she on leave) let me hear at an earlier visit at week 7.

Hi eggtofu,

I am thinking of choosing Dr Sim but is worry about excessive charges. Can you share Dr Sim delivery charges and the doctor attendance fee?

I got a friend who was charge $1200 for the doc attendance fee after birth!

Hi everyone,
I just found out I'm 7 weeks pregnent and I'm already 41yrs old, so am a little worried and as this was not planned, quite lost on what to do as well...or even where to start.

Would you recommend Dr Sim for someone who has no clues. I need a doc who is also experienced with child birth of older women like myself, hear there are more tests we need to go through...please help. any info is greatly appreciated...

hi eggtofu

my baby was delivered by Dr Sim too.. on 15 Feb...

same like you, i was able to get down the bed myself on the 2nd day....

I'm a mummy whom just had a stillbirth last yr Nov 2011. Now I'm pregnant again.

After some reading ups in this forum, had initially decided to go to another Gynae, Dr Caroline Khi. Biggest regret. My Appoint was set at 10am. I was late for 10 mins. After initial filling up details and blood pressure and weight taken, I just sat there and waited for 1 hour 30 mins. Tried asking the nurses there on how long more should I wait as there were ppl whom came after me and already left. Nurses were damn rude and ask me, 'You don't know how to access situation yourself? There are only 2 doctors on duty today. You are not special... just sit down and wait.' Angry and fed up, I stood up and left in search for another Gynae. Then saw Dr Sim's clinic at 4th floor.

Walked in and enquire. Nurses super friendly and patient. Explain the waiting situation to me and estimated time of waiting for a walk in patient like myself. And tell me that they might want to put me behind another patient after her 12.15pm appointment. Reason being my case is special. I might need to speak longer to doctor. And indeed, they arranged as so. Everytime coming out and smile and me saying, soon....

Finally, my turn to go in and see Dr Sim. True to what some said here. Very attractive Gynae. She patiently asked me to fill her in with the details of my past pregnancies. The complications involved and what's the causes of the stillbirths. Before further comments, she first laid me down for U/S on the baby. Very assuring in everything..... then finally, sat me down again and went very detailed into my pregnancy with me.

She then informed me, what she intends to do for me. The costs that might be involved. And suppose if some tests came back to be not that positive, how she would be referring me to a specialist in my situation. Super detailed, super patient.

I'm going back tomorrow, in 2 weeks time and in another 3 weeks time for appointments cos of the many tests I'll be involved in. Thus I'll update more on her.

However, ladies, she's really a gem.

There are times she may be busy but if there are any issues, I must say she is very assuring. Its my #3 baby and I am still with her.

Hi

Am considering her as my gynae as I have seen Dr Matthew Lau from KKH but he dun seem to be able to answer my questions.

Is there any 3D scans in her office and it is $50 everytime we scan?

Thanks for sharing

Btil: I didnt go to Dr Sim during the first tri. I was with another gynae but he kinda freaked me out when he was so blur.

Phin: Initially I paid a deposit of $600 at her clinic. During check out, I paid $700 (medisave)and $648 (non-medisave) for delivery and attendance. I cant rem the break down though. But hope this helps you enough. Possible the location of delivery plays a factor. E.g. if you give birth at Mt A instead of TMC, will be more expensive. But last I know, she stop taking deliveries for Mt A already.

Sylvia and TTCing: Not sure if she does 3D but usually even if a gynae doesnt do, you can request for 1 and they will make the arrangements. TTCing: I paid $65 for the U/S scan then the rest was on pkg of $700 till I deliver.

Hi all MTBs,

I'm very new, just found out tat I got 1 mth pregnant, and looking for gynae now. My friend recommanded Dr Sim Lee Ngor to me..

I've a issue, yesterday went nearby GP to confirm that I'm pregnant. And she told me to come next mth and she'll get me referral letter. However TMC is private right? Do I still need referral letter?

TIA
happy.gif

TMC is private. Definitely need not referral letter.

Just walk in to Dr Sim's clinic and let her nurse know you are pregnant and you are walk in case. They will do accordingly. Very friendly environment.

I've called and they asked me to visit them 2nd week of May ;)

Another problem, just wanna share. I'm on break now and starting my new job on 2nd May, don't think I'll tel them that i pregnant. Wait till I confirm den break the news to them.. Hopefully everything is okie *cross fingers*

Anyone knows how much Dr Sim charges for c-sect? I'm supposed to deposit S$900+GST during my next visit and I forgot to ask how much is the whole estimated cost.

Evilicious,

How about the health screening when you join the company? There's urine test. Think you gotta be honest.

Angeline,

Very small company, therefore no such tests

I'll let them know in June, if they can't accept I'll just go.

Can't wait for my first gynae check up on coming Monday! Hope can hear bb's heartbeat!

Dr Sim is a very experienced gynae.
Feel very comfortable talking to her. Very patient with me even though I have lots of questions to ask her... highly recommend her.

Dr Sim is indeed very experienced n professional. I have been with her since 2007. All my 3 girls were delivered by her. All natural without epidural. In fact, she does not encourage patients to be on epidural. I could walk 2 hours after delivery!!

Very patient. She even joked that i should try for #4 or #5 since i m so young..haha

Apple, Dr Sim only deliver @ TMC this yr cos got a lot of dragon babies. Think it is easier for her too as her clinic s @ TMC. other year, u can select TMC or Mt A. For next yr, u can chk wif th clinic assistant. Initially I oso hav plan to deliver @ Mt A.

Yup, I plan to deliver @ Mt A too. But this year she is only doing delivery at TMC

My EDD is 28 Dec 12, I wonder if baby comes out later around Jan 12. Can I change to Mt A. HAHA!

It is my second time back to seeing Dr Sim after a few years. 2 out of 3 of their counter staffs super cannot make it and zero customer service. They did not bother to explain the test procedures ordered by Dr Sim and you have to keep asking what is expected of me so as to comply with the instructions required of me. Very bad attitude and lousy communication.

There was an Indian couple that came to register and they were having small talk among themselves in Chinese that this couple very blur, don't think they know what they want. I think this is not professional of them. They should be helping this couple out since they are the front line and it's their duty to explain what kind of services the clinic can offer.

Then there was this couple that came and just after they left, came back again and questioned that they don't quite understand what the staff was explaining earlier. The staff then asked for the envelop that she had earlier handed out to the couple. She opened up and said, oh ya... Sorry I forgot to indicate the time to you, thought it was there. And the husband said no wonder I cannot make out your instructions earlier.

Another couple. They asked why they were not given one medication that Dr Sim has prescribed. Then the staff answered that they do not carry this drug and asked that they go to the pharmacy to buy. Shouldn't they explain while dispensing the medication and not when the couple came back to ask and they explained? Can you imagine if they had forgotten to dispense one medicine and you do not even know? It should be the staff's due diligence to inform the patient even when they do not carry such a medication.

I don't feel confident of the staff handling our cases. There were 2 times Dr Sim came out to give instructions to one of the staffs and she gave a blur look and remarked 'huh?', looked at the other staff and seems not knowing what is expected of her. She did not bother to go and clarify what is tasked to her to do and just resumed to her work.

I have signed a package with DR Sim and it will be too lugi for me to change gynae now

Overall very bad experience because of the bad customer service.

It is my second time to see Dr Sim too. I'm expecting with #2 and due in June. Hubby insisted that we go back to her and we trust her completely. I had originally chosen her because I wanted an experienced female gynae in TMC who is not to expensive. She appears stern but she's actually very friendly. I had spotting a lot in my previous pregnancy and Dr Sim had always asked me in to check. I had low placenta and GD. I think she suspected that my #1 was going to be early so she had given me steroid jabs to make sure that her lungs developed faster. True enough, I had an emergency c-sec at 35+ weeks because of excessive bleeding. Thank God my little girl was developed enough and we avoided nicu. Her stitching was superb too!

Hi, recently went to see Dr sim for first appointment. Baby was 7 weeks then, I did an ultra sound, however there wasn't any heart beat sound coming from the machine. Dr Sim re assured that the graphs does shows there is heart beat but it's too early to detect any thumping sound. Is that true?

my first appointment with doc sim was when my baby was 8 week. same think the heartbeat was a little soft. cant really hear. but during the next appt when baby was a little bigger was able to hear the heartbeat. nothing to worry. :)

Can anyone advice me on dr sim charges? I heard that theres no more prenatal package from now on.

How much is her delivery fees?

Tia!

Hello! Dr Sim delivered my #1 3 years back :) I'm expecting #2 now, and should be going back to her. But seems like she doesnt offer package anymore. Clinic staff is friendly, i called and she says its ala carte service now. After 30 wks, the scan will be cheaper cause we have to scan weekly after 30 wks.

She is not much words kind of person who are very straight to the point when she speak.
I was okay during the appointment and the regular check up. As she concern about my gestational diabetes, she advises me to do my own check to track my sugar level.

During the delivery, that day there are 3 persons who are under her that will delivered.
I had my normal delivery without epidural.
But the after the whole delivery I realize a couple of things that I feel very unsatisfied:

1. Before the delivery, there is no scan was done.

2. During the delivery, on my 9-cm dilated, they keep asking me to push, it took so long and said I didn't push enough to push the baby, only when they realized that the position of the baby was incorrect and asked me to choose Forceps or Caesar!
(IF the scan has been done in the first step, this would have been avoided)

3. Of course after many hours of effort to do the delivery normally, I choose to do forceps, because the baby head can already be seen!

4. After the delivery I complained about the pain near my backside, but Dr. Sim said it was normal. And she just check the stitches and give more painkiller to relieve the pain.

5. The pain is still not gone away until today, almost a year now. I went to do MRI check to find out that my tailbone is swollen!
Not sure if it is because of difficult delivery or forceps. But either one could have been prevented if before delivery is being check more thoroughly.

Could be just my bad luck, I do feel she is a good doctor but could be better.
I am here to just share to remind all the mother to be more careful or maybe remind them if they forgotten to do the last scan before the delivery.

So good luck and all the best to all mom!
