Dr Joycelyn Wong from KKH

Hi all, will like to ask if Dr Wong is contactable only though emails or does she give out her hp nbr as well for emergencies?

Also, is her deliver skills and stiching good for both natural and c-section?

Lastly, how much will the bill add up to if i were to stay in 1-bedded, including her delivery fees, antenatal fees, hospital bills etc? assuming natural w epi?

Thank u soooo much!!

oh ya, all these recent qns posted are on my mind too.. ~~

Any mummies given birth through her can advise?

Thanks alot..

I go straight to TMC during emergency and they will contact Dr Wong.

Dr Wong is definitely good with her stitching for natural as I can get off bed and walk without much pain the 2nd day.

I will confirm go back to her if I plan for no. 2

Hi Bear,

Thanks! Btw, how much did u pay for the total bill?

bel, yup.. hubby can accompany wife during delivery..

and yes, her stitching is very good for natural. and she's a very very nice n gentle lady. i gave birth in Oct'07 and it was at nite. once the nurse called her, she rushed down immediately liao.. =D

will definitely go back to her if i have a 2nd one!

I gave birth in June 2007. I paid 1k+ cash for a 4 bedder upgraded to 2 bedder. Stayed 4 days and its natural with epi at TMC.

Hi, can i check when should my first visit to gynae when i check i am pregnant? how do you count the no of weeks of pregant? Is it from the ovalution day?

Can I have Dr Wong contact number and address?
Do she have another clinic outside?

U can check at gynae once u reach around 8 weeks pregnancy (i.e. count from the day of your last menses), by then shd be able to see the waterbag and feel bb heartbeat.

Dr Wong is at TMC ACJ clinic only I think. U can check Thomson medicial website for her clinic tel number.

Yuki,
u can call ACJ Clinic @ TMC to make appt. with Dr Wong. Tel:63532033. She super long que, usually have to wait 1-2wk for appt. so u can start calling now.

Hi all, does Dr Joycelyn Wong conduct pre-pregnancy tests? Basically for ladies who planning to conceive in a few months... any idea on the procedure and costs?

Hi Yuki,

She used to have a night clinic session in Bedok every friday. Not sure if she is still having it. Can call her and check it up.

Hi Ellysia,

Her delivery charges including 2 nights stay in TMC is $2300.

Now I am with her for my no. 2 and 3... so she charge me 1.5times for it. Overall, even though her fees went up but she is still the most meticulous gynae, u can ask her anything and she will be glad to answer you.

Hi,

I juz delivered 2 wks ago.. My gynae is Dr Wong. My hubby n I are very comfortable with her. She's always very detailed and patient in her explanations.

hi yuki, she is very pro natural. Her stitching is definitely good. I dun feel pain even on the first day. Dun even need painkiller. My first gynae's stitching not good...even got infection after that.

Yuki, agrees with aquarius_888, Dr. Wong stitching is good. I was able to walk around a few hours after the delivery. It was the nurses who asked me to not walk so much! Dr. Wong is definitely pro natural. When I went to her, she says to me that I should try natural and encourage me that I should be able to go without epidural.

hi yuki,

yeah. agree wif them. Dr Wong is gentle and assuring in the labour ward while she is delivering and doing up the stitches.

She's prof n will check on stitches everyday while u in hosp. If u r unwell, u can let her know too. She is caring..

Will consider looking 4 her if my 2nd one comes.

dear mummies,
I was also with Dr Wong for my first pregnancy. I delivered in Feb 07, quite long ago but I will never forget how professional a doctor Dr Wong is. I had very bad morning sickness in the first trimester and she was very generous with her mcs so that I can rest at home. I really appreciated it as it's so terrible to squeeze in trains when u r giddy and nauseous. Then my digestion was very poor and I was even admitted to hospital. I had sharp pain in my abdomen area one day and i called the emergency line. She replied very quickly and asked me to go down to the hospital for her to check. That was like 10pm already.

Luckily my 2nd and 3rd timesters were smooth-going. During my pregnancy, Dr Wong is always very patient with whatever questions I have and even when i email her (since we only see her once a month) her reply is very prompt, usually by the next day. I had a very long labour (
22 hrs!) and nearly wanted to give up and ask her to give me c-section but she encouraged and reassured me. Her stitching skills are fantastic because I didnt need any painkillers! I was amazed myself. And it healed very well and fast. Recently I went for my annual checkup and she could still rem me - she said the one that had a very bad first trimester and was hospitalised. haha...really good memory.

I recommend her to all my frens and so far, one fren has already given birth and another one gg to be due in July. Both have very good comments about her. So for all preggy ladies, congrats to you and dont hesitate to go see her. Thumbs up for her

I am all thumbs up for Dr Wong too! I delivered in Sep 2007 and she was my 2nd gynae (my elder one was delivered by another gynae). Regretted not coming to know about her earlier!

Like what others said, she is always very gentle and caring ... and prompt in replying to your concerns and emails (doctors are not obliged to give you their emails to "bomb" them with questions outside consultation hours anyway). She doesn't give me the "commercialised" feel lor ... genuinely caring and professional.

She encouraged me not to take epidural and I did it! Her stitching was excellent (as compared with my 1st delivery) and I was already able to walk about in my ward few hours after delivery. Colleagues who came and visit me were shocked to see me walking about ... haha.

Will still miss her ... too bad I am not planning for 3rd one. So probably can only see her once a year for Pap Smear if I wanna do it there.

Hi,

Can I check whether Dr Wong prefer MTB to visit her during the 6 weeks or the 8 weeks?
For our first visit, do we need to do any tests or prepare anything?

Yuki,

I started to see Dr Wong @ 6wks as I had miscarriage previously and was able to detect heart beat then. If bb heartbeat is not detected, you need to visit in one week's time. Baby heartbeat could be detected late too. I'm now 13+ wks preggie.

First visit, you need to draw blood to check for Thalassemia. If mummy is found to have thalassemia, daddy has to do a blood test also. If both parents are carriers of thalassemia, baby may have high chance of thalassemia (major or minor). You can do google check for thalassemia.

My husband and I did the test(actually health screening) before visiting Dr Wong and we just shown her the report. My husband was postive for thalassemia minor (carrier), I cannot remember is alpha or beta. Lucky for me, I was normal.

Read on http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thalassemia

Just an update, Dr Wong no longer goes to the Bedok night clinic.

Hi all,

Just like to ask, does Dr. Wong speak fluent Mandarin? 'Cos my mum will accompany me on most visits, and since she is more comfortable with using Mandarin, I am keen to find a gynae who can converse in Mandarin so that my mum can join in the discussion too.

hi earl grey, from wat i rem of a visit to dr wong with my MIL, she use Chinese to explain the results of the OSCAR screening to her. So I think shd be not too big a problem. Anyway if your mum dont really understand, you can explain to her, since choosing a good gynae is the most important! =)

Thanks!

Hi, littlesheep,
I just sign a package with Jocelyn from 3 months onwards, its about $800, includes ultrascan and pre-scheduled consultantation until delivery. Another is for 5th month onwards, which is about 500+, I think.
For first visit, it cost $48 - ultrasound and $80 - consultation.
Have not ask about delivery charges yet.

Hope this helps;)

Hi,

I delivered in April 08.
I think her charges was $1498. I would definitely recommend Dr Wong. She was very patient throughout my pregnancy. Her stitching skills were good too. I was able to get down the bed the very day I delivered.

Hi

Dr Wong is really good & caring... Six stars for her!

I deliver 1st child in Nov 05 and second, Apr 07.. During then the doctor charges are same as KK. But bed charges n etc are more expensive than KK. (Comparing 4 bedded)

If difference not alot, should choose Dr Wong -- then u have no regrets!

Hi Caitlin,

Does the delivery charges of $1438 include hospital stay or just the doc fee?

Btw, does anyone knows if Dr. Jocelyn gives hormones jab to stablise pregnancy during 1st trimester?

Hi littlesheep,

it is only the doc fees. But part of it can be claimed by medisave
I'm not sure about the hormones jab. Maybe u can ask Dr Wong for her opinion if there's such a need.

Hi mummies,
this thread is rather quiet for the last 2 mths.

any new feedback on dr wong?

am considering using her service. but also considering wk tan and yvonne chan.

thanks!

FirstMum,

Hope I'm not too late to assure you that Dr. Wong is really a very fantastic gynae. She's very assuring, patient & caring. I've recommended 2 colleagues to her & both are full of praise towards her.

Being a mother herself, she's very sympathetic towards how we feel too. I had some complication during my last trimester. Upon hearing that I work in ulu place like Tuas South, she gave me hospitalization leave to rest @ home. Even arrange to see me weekly to monitor my situation w/o additional cost. To the end of my pregnancy, she was every more gan cheong than me about my situation.

She reacts very well to emergency too cuz she's living very near to TMC. I dilated from 5cm to 10cm within 10mins & she still manage to make it.

She didn't leave e labour ward immediately after delivering my baby. She stayed to accompany us & even helped to massage my crampy leg when my HB had to step out with e midwife to check on our BB.

I just went back to see her few weeks ago for pap smear. She remembered me very well even without seeing my case note. I feel that Dr Wong treats us like friends more than patients.

Dr Wong really loves children too. She's always carry/kiss my #1 DD who accompanys me for my visits. Will take pain to explain to my DD wat was shown on e ultrasound. She even remembers that my DD loves Pooh Bear.

I would definitely go back to her if I strike again *hahaha*

Hi,

am visiting Dr Wong for the first time in Jan. I would be in my 12th week by then. May I know when we should usually start on the vitamins intake and what kind of vitamin she usually gives her patients?

U shld start on yr folic acid if u hv yet to do it. Next will be e mulit-vitamin, fish oil etc... She will advise u when is needed depending on yr condition. Dun worry & just enjoy yr pregnancy}

im visting her for the first time next week too
shld be in my 10th week
hope i will be comfortable with her
