Does your maid have painful nails problem?

My maid just came for only 5 mths and we noticed sometimes she put masking tape on her fingers. We asked why and she told us her nails are very pain. The skin near her nails were already looking slightly swollen and growing inwards towards her nails. We changed all our washing detergent to a milder washing products and even her to wear gloves but still no improvement. She wears gloves only when washing the toilets (once a week only) other than that she still has to remove the gloves when washing the dishes. She cannot sleep at night because she will feel the burning sensation on her fingers once she stopped doing housework.

My previous maid also has the nail problems whereby her nails get lesser and lesser (looks like being "eaten" up by all the washing) and it costs me $100+ to seek for medical help but it doesn't improve her fingernails either. I cannot possibly keep bringing my helper to see doc and pay $100+ each visit.

Does your maid have the same problem? Is there any cream or moisturiser that can help her fingers to recover?

Hi

I am a SAHM. I do experience pain in the nail esp the the crevice between the nail and the flesh. I used tea tree essential oil, you can buy it from aromatherapy store. Or u can buy from massagesupplies.com.sg which is cheaper. They provide free delivery for $50 and above. Register as a member and you can get 20% discount off the essential oils. Also make sure yr maid has enough rest, which will help in recovery. I dabbed the tea tree essential oil with a cotton bud at the nail cuticle or the swollen area. Using essential oil is cheaper than a visit to the doctor.

I started with nails eczema before it develops to pompholyx eczema (itchy fluid blisters), endless sufferings and could not sleep due to inflammation, tremendous itch, pain, fluidy...mental and physical torment..

First step
Please reduce detergent to wash laundry,dishes..also good for whole family cos lesser chemicals exposure..

The types of shampoos, facial wash and body wash also can cause itchiness..Go for Dove soap bar instead cause i observed skin center also prescribe Dove to patients.

Then, use Dermasone liquid steroid to apply on to nails for faster response..For continuous maintenance, is to apply Luxor Gel Gamat..and maybe, a herb wash liquid to stop itchiness which contain neems that helps for skin disease..i still have balance of these if you keen..cos, i no longer need anymore.

Buy her a wooden clog to wear while wash clothings and toilets to minimise soapy chemical water splash to her toenails.

Insist her to wear altogether, while washing
plastic disposable gloves -1st layer
cotton gloves -2nd layer
Latex gloves-3rd layer

I still have all these used gloves, if she want..and other stuff that i used whe treating my nails eczema..

I can give her the soaking trays i used to soak my nails with potassium permanganate and the neem herbwash.through soaking with these, then at least can stop its itchiness for a moment..followed by dermasone and /or luxor gamat..
