Confinement nanny to avoid - Miki Lee

I’m a first time mom and recently delivered a baby girl in May. I unfortunately went through a horrible and stressful period with my confinement nanny and wanted to highlight to all to avoid.

Her name is Miki Lee- there are already some bad reviews on her on this forum (refer to 2014 posts for eg) which I regret not reading before confirming her as my nanny.

She is stuck in her own ways and would not respect any of the decisions we made for our own child. She constantly discouraged my breastfeeding efforts and made me feel very demoralized when I was still trying to establish my milk supply. She was very rough with my baby and would make her cry when wiping her. She claims to have experience with 240 babies yet she doesn’t seem to be able to soothe my baby at all or handle her crying. Yet when she’s trying to make my baby sleep she talks on the phone loudly at the same time - many times she’s actually scolding or having an argument with another person while putting my baby to sleep.

She also destroyed a few items in my home including my kitchen counter, kitchen utensils , sink tap…

She’s also a huge complainer, complaining about everything in the house.

She was a very unpleasant person to have in the house and we ultimately decided that any help we received from her wasn’t worth the additional stress from dealing with her and terminated her services early.

Oh I see!! She told me she left her previous job early due to issues with the family … Did you guys have a similar experience??

What left her job early? We fired her ass lor. She was very condescending and very pagro towards my wife and was a hindrance towards my wife’s effort to build milk supply at the start. She will always say things to my baby boy like “See? Mummy so slow and so little milk”. My wife offered to latch but she insist that she rest but will complain when my son takes too long to finish his milk when he was just 2 weeks old -.-

Wow ok yea same experience with the milk supply issue. She actually did complain to me about your wife but after I went through the same thing I can totally understand what your wife went through.

I wanted to latch her more to build my supply even if that meant doing it every 2 hours and Miki was super unhappy and condescending about it. She kept saying my supply is just low , if I keep insisting on latching and she doesn’t give her formula the baby will never drink enough. I later also found out she would talk behind my back to my helper… saying things like I take so long to feed my baby, I got no milk etc. I’m so glad I didn’t listen to her and that we cut her loose early coz my supply went up by so much after she left ……

She will literally complain to her new employers about her previous employers. And yes, she also often insisted that we top up and claims that every baby she had taken care of, all will top up with formula one. I bought milk powder cos of her. She was also very rude to my mum in law as well. My MIL helped buy groceries. Buy too little or too much also will kena from her. -.-. Just curious. Did you pay her extra on top of the prorated amount she is supposed to get?

And my wife’s milk supply also went up after she left :eek:

Yea even when I had expressed breast milk for her in the fridge, she will still feed formula at night coz she’s lazy to walk out of her room to go warm up the milk …

She said the same about my parents and in laws. She complained why my parents don’t buy this and that for me, and said my in laws buy such strange things (not to her liking). She also made us buy so many unnecessary things for her personal usage … later I found out she also made my helper buy things for her and didn’t even bother paying her back

Regarding the payment, yes we did give her an advance (which was additional to her pro rated amount) coz she said her daughter had no money to pay her income taxes as she had spent it on a holiday in HK and asked if we could help her. We also gave her a pretty good angbao - out of goodwill - when she left since we shortened her contract by a month. Thinking back now I massively regret doing this

Wah, this is the exact same experience my wife and I had. Like literally the same. I’m so happy for you and glad that yall fired her early. When we know that she is going to another family, we were expecting her to be fired as well. And she also feed my son formula when got expressed milk -.-
