Hi,

Does anyone know of a good childcare centre in Woodlands? I heard that there is vacancy in Champkids at 888 Plaza. Anyone has child in the centre? Please provide feedback.

Thanks!

Thinkerstar in woodland is quite good, with trustworthy and responsible owner and teachers! I'm very happy to put my kids there

Hi...I understand from my friend who just withdrawn their child from Champkids at 888 plaza, heard that the centre is no good...high school fee but let off standard and quality, high teacher turn over rate...etc

Thanks sunshine.

May I know what is the teacher children ratio? is it like 20 to 1 teacher? Also, what are the qualification of teachers? Mostly local?

Hi Prada,

Thanks for your reply. Actually Champkids is one of the centres that I have put on the top of my list. But after looking at your comments, I think I have to reconsider. I heard that they have just renovated and is very nice. My friend told me that they are going to increase the school fee but she is also very not sure. So can you help me to confirm with your friend? What is the new fee?

Also, can you please also check for me the details?
(1) teacher children ratio for PG and N1
(2) qualification of teachers
(3) curriculum for PG and N1
(4) any outdoor activities?
(5) do they allow children to watch TV?
(6) food provided for children OK?
(7) Are the teachers mostly local? I understand that most schools have Chinese teacher from china which I think is fine.

Sorry for having so many questions as this is my first experience of sending my children to school. I think is through forum that I can get more truthful feedback.

Hope I can find a good and trustworthy centre for my kids so that I can be stress free when I return to working society after so many years of rest.

Thanks!

Hi HealthyUHappyMe,

I can understand you as I am working parents too....I did check for you from my friend, according to her the centre going to increase the fee till $650 instead of $490. As i mentioned before, the centre teacher turn over rate is very high so that I think that the teachers ratio is totally not equal.

Thinkerstar has very good ratio, the owner is not just into profit but also welfare of the kids! Honestly I'm a sporean myself, I've learnt something over the years in regards to foreign teachers and let me share with u parents: don't think s'poreans teachers are always great, they are the ones not as hardworking and patient as the foreigners! Ha!

Good luck!

Hi SunshineDay, I agreed with you...but, the problem is some of the foreigner teachers like from Philippines or Myanmar their english is totally out from Spore level, not to say that the childrens dunno whether can understand or not, even parents also very difficult to understand what they are trying to present.

Hi Prada,

May I know which childcare centre hire Philippines or Myanmar teacher? I am most happy to have a british teacher but I am very concerned with philippines or myanmar teacher as I think no matter what, their spoken and written English is very different. It seems like asking a Filipino or myanmar maid to teach my children. Sorry for having some bias. I have helper at home and I am very cautious to ensure my children don't learn the wrong English from them.

Hi HealthyUHappyMe, heard from my friend Champkids at 888 plaza is hiring some teachers don't know from Philippines or Myanmar, just as what you said their spoken and written English is really very different seems like we are conversation with our Filipino maid, haha...sometime also caused that my friend bit frustrated.

Sorry let's be fair, some philipino do speak proper English too. By the way do u know some sporean teachers speak 'singlish'...

Not sure if u guys got my point... In my opinion, the foreigners are still more patient than sporean ones
