I am due for delivery on 9 Oct 2017 and is strongly recommended to see Gynae Dr Wong Mun Tat and use his service at Thomson Bukit Batok Branch.
On the first visit in the month or April my husband and i went to see him and there after were introduced to the package offered. The receptionist then at that time told us that Dr Wong does deliveries at both Thomson and Mt Alvernia. We noted and left.
After continuing the gynae appointments for a few months and around July or August my husband personally asked the same receptionist again if Dr Wong is able to deliver in Mt Alvernia and she confirmed that he does.
Around the last week of July i experienced pain in my lower abdomen to Dr Wong during a appointment and was then told to go Thomson for a thorough check. This being our first baby we were of cause anxious and went ahead to the hospital and paid a deposit of $2000 etc. Luckily, all was well and i was disharged. We paid the hospital fees of about $800 and was told by the counter we can collect the $2000 deposit back next time and not on the day itself.
8 months into the pregnancy, we were still undecided and went on the hospital tours of both hospitals and finally decided on Mt Alvernia due to a variety of reasons.
Since we decided on Mt Alvernia, naturally i would want to collect back my deposit and called to inform Thomson about the refund. A few days later, a lady named Helen called and persuaded us to use Thomson for delivery. We do not want as we have decided on our hospital and then was told by Helen that Dr Wong DO NOT go to Mt Alvernia for deliveries. I was in disbelief and told Helen that is not what was conveyed to us previously. I then called the bukit batok clinic to ask again and now i was told that Dr Wong DO NOT do deliveries there at all! The receptionist insisted that she did not say that at all. Why would we even choose Mt Alvernia if we were told that Dr Wong only deliver in Thomson in the very first place???
This is extremely appalling. I do not know what went on behind the scene between Helen and the clinic after my husband spoke to Helen about our decision, as the clinic staff flatly denies telling us abt delivering in mt alvernia.
We do not mind delivering in Thomson at all since we chose the services under the hospital name. But this experience leaves a really bad taste in our mouths.
So any moms encounter this issue before?? We checked and Dr Wong is accredited to both Thomson and Mt Alvernia... any advise??? Can i deliver my baby in Mt Alvernia at all?
