I've tried some tailors near the checkpoint. They stop taking already. The usual tailor in JB daa stop taking 2 mths ago...
So thought, just send kat S'pore jer. Convienient sikit. Futhermore ever since I'm preggy with my 2nd child, my hubby don't like to go in JB. Tak safe he said..
Any mummies, got contact for tailor in S'pore that still take tempahan for raya?

im in dilemma.dah lama i pendam i hope u ladies can give advise and bear with me. i tinggal ngan my husband,siblings and mil. staying with the siblings are great...but i ader prob ah ngan mil.ever since i dapat tahu yg dier gossip or buat fitnah pasal i,i find it difficult to stay with her.
aper i buat semua tak kena pada dier. now i tgh pregnant,she either masak lambat or tak masak langsung. bukan i tak nak buat tu semua,but nanti muka dier...masam satu mcm. i did tell my hubby lah...but dier selalu side his mum. wat u al advise?

susah nak advice you on this, cause this MIL/DIL issue is an age-old problem...apatah lagi if your hubby takes his mum's side, lagi susah for you, the wife to bersabar and take it.
my advice is, if the problems with your MIL are small & trivial, and you are able to overlook them, then just be thick-skin, buat mika selemba and just ignore all the problems and don't let them affect you and esp. your r'ship with your hubby. some more you are pregnant now, so try not to let things get to you easily.
however, if you feel the sitation is quite bad, and seems to be getting worse and you don't see a solution in the near future, then maybe you and hubby need to consider getting your own place, esp. since you are going to have a child soon. you can use the excuse that with a child, you will need more space, esp. if in future you plan to have more children. nobody will have any reason to object to this, because it is a valid reason.

as for his siblings, what exactly do you mean by you kesiankan them if you all move out? will your moving out have any major negative impact on them?

tks for the info! the menu looks VERY tempting, i am seriously considering ordering the ramadan menu, cause the thought of me & my maid cooking the same old food week aft week is not very appealing to me. it would be nice to have some nice malay food for a change. even if we don't eat the food for berbuka, can still keep to eat for sahur.

tawakkal je lah eh...I agree with Lani, what goes around comes around esp if the gossip is not true. Memang susah kalau ur hb side his mum but lama kelamaan dia akan see the truth jugak.. takes time. In the meantime, kalau ur mil tk masak beli luar ke mkn luar ke. Cn always find a gd excuse to go out with ur hb's siblings to go out for mkn. At least min ur contact with mil. Cool off and avoid unnecessary contact with ur mil to avoid conflicts. Buat hal sendiri sudah... You have the baby to think about! Don't stress nanti mcm my fren's son, keluar muka merungut! hehehe

As a mother we do have to make sacrifices for the children so that was one of it. Insya Allah, there's always a silver lining behind a dark cloud!Nothing should compromise the time with our children. Spending time means a lot to them.
Yesterday I had to send my daughter to my mil to attend a mass lecture at the Expo. Had lunch with my fren and then went home to settle my late submission of exam paper.. Then I took a rest while waiting for my hb to come hm from work at 8.30. Lepas dinner baru we went to fetch our dd. By then it was 9.30. I was hoping she hasn't gone to sleep yet. ANyway she was VERY excited to see us and kept kissing me on the lips few times 9sometimes i main2 with her like that). Then my MIL and FIL said all day she seemed to be looking for us and was feeling a bit down. Maybe bcos she hasn't seen us for the whole day! When we were there she seemed happier.. Kesian my dd... So I'm making up to her this weekend..
Exam period ni memang mcm ni skrg set paper nanti bila time marking pun kena put her at my mil kalau tak delay... as it is now i'm coming back from sch ard 6.30 or 7 baru ambik dia balik! haiz..always see her aft 12hrs....

hihi... I finally managed to find a tailor to make my baju raya.. but the charges kus mangat... $180 for me & $90 for my daughter. Is this the market rate of making baju kurung in S'pore? Been so long since I send here. Don't know can be this ex. If I to send in JB with this amt, can get 3 pasang for me & dd..

puasa is coming.. so soon. macam tak percaye.. the glutton that I am have been eating all the things that i like to eat so that tak teringat ingat time pusasa nanti.. ish ish.. macam budak budak.. like today, lunch was long john silver, dinner will be swensens....
but i tell you, the thing that most make my puasa mencabar is those vending machines with the pic of icy cold coke on it... i had to stop myself from running to hug those machines... old habits die hard i guess..hehehheh

But looks like i'll hv to gv it a miss lah this whole mth...kalau puasa pun, batal jugak pasal nausea...even though nothing might come out only gastric juice,,hehe sorryyyy kalau sound gross.. now if i feel like it, i'll let it out. No more control..lagi uncomfy rasamya. Skrg dah tk takut but usually i'll do it sebelum mkn for obvious reasons lah..nanti grossed out korang! lol

what is this talk of feeling nausea? are you expecting????
actually, for me, every yr bulan puasa is very challenging and mencabar for me, cause i suffer from very bad gastric, ever since i was a kid. so when i go w/out food for too long, my gastric starts to act up, sometimes until very, very bad that i start puking out gastric juices & bile, and my stomach hurts very very badly, macam kena stabbed. even now my eating habits have to adapt to this condition of mine, ie. i have to eat small frequent meals every day.
so every yr bulan puasa many days my fasting either batal or i have to buka, no choice cause the gastric attacks will come on. i talked to my doc abt it before he also said not much i can do abt it, since this is my condition already and it's been like this for many yrs already.
but sometimes i feel bad/malu also lah, cause my hubby who is a convert and only started fasting 9yrs ago can fast the full 30 days every yr w/out fail. but luckily he understands my situation and he never ever makes me feel bad when i need to eat/drink during fasting mth, esp. when he's home on the weekends.
anyway, selamat berpuasa everyone! ini pagi you all bangun sahur makan apa? i dah beli nasi ayam penyet and rosemary foccacia bread for sahur. then my mummy is here tonight, so tomorrow she is gonna masak nasi lemak for berbuka. yummy...

you funny laa... true eh kiter belajar jahit, can make $$ even w/o leaving the hse... no need working clothes & make-up.. see how much we can save...
my hubby also complain so ex ar upah, ask me to belajar jahit sendiri.. told him last minute daa bagus they still want to take... anyway maybe coz setahun sekali only can makan, that's why they make-up the upah alot... or maybe my material - french lace that's why upah that high... hmmm..
feel so stupid sometime, upah & material come out to be 300plus .. might as well I beli yg dah siap nyer kan.. but the prob size slalu tak ngam.

talk abt masjid Tentera nih... that time I've got a video that captured "pompuan cantik" swaying kat a tree ard that plc... tried to open in the office, can't open. So balik I opened laa & watched the vid while carrying my 5mths old son then.. you know what happen... in the middle of the night, my son cried macam org ketakutan.. keep on looking at the ceiling & burrying his head on my chest... scary thinking abt it.. don't know whether coincident or what but I not going to watch any X-files vid carrying him ever again... such a nightmare
anyway, you were on REDUC when you got preg??? did you tell the doc?
and CONGRATS to you... enjoy another 9mths of PMS free...

you wanna buy kuih raya from angsana eh? my parents buy fr there every yr, and they also buy for me. you want me to ask them to help buy for you? then you can just collect fr me and pay me when you collect. but you know exactly which kuih you want or not? easier for them to buy for you if you know exactly which kuih you want. just PM me lah if you wanna discuss further.

eh, sayangnya, you lost all your pregnancy weight aft taking R then now preggie again! so gotta start all over again lah! tak apa lah, it's worth it...
eh, the R has worked quite well for me. i lost quite a bit of weight on it. now when i go shopping for clothes i am back to my previous size S already, but am glad that my chest still can maintain my previous size of 34B. hee...and last sunday we went for a family gathering on hubby's side of the family. alot of them said i lost weight. hee...

you tak ada kerja go ard to all the mosques collecting bubur during maternity leave!! so funny! for me i hardly do that. but my dad will, ie if he happen to pass by a mosque he will pickup and give us 1 pkt. but these past few yrs my dad pun very busy during bulan puasa, cause at the surau in his estate, he is the one in charge of cooking the bubur everyday! i suka makan bubur fr mosque during bulan puasa! but my hubby not a big fan. altho he is a BIG fan of malay food, kalau makan bubur he still prefers the chinese style kind.
anyone here ordered the Ramadan menu fr tigfoods.com ? sedap tak? i was thinking of ordering, but never got round to it. dunno whether they can still accept orders now or not?

Hari ni planning to buka at my parents' pulak..semlam dorang mkn mee rebus...slurppp... tak larat pulak nak second round.

I tak tahu whether nak order ke tidak. Macam half-hearted. Tapi balik kerja penat, mana ada tenaga nak masak. Dah tu, kelam kabut.
Kalau order, confirm makanan i kat luar sampai i balik rumah.
Kalau tak order, kena beli luar. Semalam pergi kat blok 900+ yang kat tampines. Ada jualan. I beli roti boyan, satu, $1.50. Dah tu, roti boyan dia tak masak betul. Beli mee siam. Ok aje. Hubby kata tak sedap. Beli nasi goreng sambal, dia punya serondeng dah nak basi. Hubby tak nak makan. Abih, beli dua macam lauk, $2 each tapi sikit, mahal lah..dan tak berapa sedap.
Tegoklah macam mana.

Kalau tak order, kena beli luar. Semalam pergi kat blok 900+ yang kat tampines. Ada jualan. I beli roti boyan, satu, $1.50. Dah tu, roti boyan dia tak masak betul. Beli mee siam. Ok aje. Hubby kata tak sedap. Beli nasi goreng sambal, dia punya serondeng dah nak basi. Hubby tak nak makan. Abih, beli dua macam lauk, $2 each tapi sikit, mahal lah..dan tak berapa sedap.
Tegoklah macam mana.

i also don't really like to buy outside food during fasting mth. because i find the prices sometimes quite EX, and then the quality of the food not so good. either the taste a bit off (i guess can't blame lah, cause ppl fasting can't taste the food they cook) or like what you said, seems a bit stale or basi cause most of the food they cooked in the morning.
if i wanna buy outside food during fasting mth, i don't buy at those type of stalls (eg like those at blk 900+ in tampines). i will just stick to the usual stalls that i patronise on normal days. for eg, at my place here got Istanbul Coffeeshop, the Chinese-Muslim seafood stall here has got good food, they have been ard for almost 20yrs i think. whenever i don't cook, i will buy food from here. the chicken rice at this coffeeshop is also very nice!
at the next coffeeshop, got a halal western food stall. the chicken wings is SOOOO sedap! the man preparing the chicken is a chinese (i think his wife is malay), and memang lah sedap the chicken wings! so well-marinated and so crispy and yet not oily.
and if we feel like having indian food, there is a 24-hr indian coffeeshop here also with really good prata, mee goreng and nasi briyani.
so i always just stick to these few stalls lah. at most i only buy kuih and drinks from those stalls selling buka puasa fare.

yesterday laksa delivery from hj maimunah was sedap, but serving portion is small la. my sis said the lauk sotong itam from tigs food was not nice.

when it comes to malay food i am very fussy lah, cause dah biasa makan yang sedap-sedap that my mum masak, so have become quite spoilt.
memang the food fr istanbul best eh? i suka buy fr there, and i've been living in tampines for abt 21yrs now, so our whole family dah kenal rapat dgn the couple that owns the stall. in fact today buka puasa i beli the nasi ayam, and also some kuih fr the stall there. i think tomorrow i'm gonna buy the sambal beef fried rice for buaka.

you know what i did in preparation for sahur? last week my mum cooked for us 1 pot ayam kicap, 1 pot ayam belado, & 1 pot ayam rendang, then what i did was to individually pack them all into single portions in small sandwich plastic bags, and put all in the freezer! so i told my maid, mum, hubby, if any of them wanna sahur, just cook rice and take out 1 pkt of the lauk from the freezer and panaskan for sahur. senang!
reminds me of my days of batch-cooking when dd was started on solids! hee...

i think both maimunah and tig foods already stopped taking orders (however tig foods still accept order for their 10 days package i think).
i wanted to order from maimunah but too late so in the end ordered from tig foods coz i'm pregnant n rasa tak larat nak masak (especially the same old things over n over again).
so far i think certain food from tig foods r better than other,anyway have only received 2 times so far n the mee siam on first day was nice
but the next day sotong hitam tu memang not all that great.but the portion is very small lah n i feel not worthy paying $250 for 2 pax ($60 more expensive than maimunah's 2 pax package).

I'v been lucky so far...ada 2 choice untuk buka puasa..rumah my parents or in-laws hehee..sahur is packed lauk. Kalau buka rumah my parents, sahur makan lauk my mil and vice versa.. I skrg dah start malas nak masak. Idea je banyak. Kejap lagi I'm finally going to buy a slice of choc moist cake from secret recipe...!
You know what, as of semalam, my nausea mcm suddenly stop (dunno if it's for good) tapi hairan jugaklah cos belum reach 3 mths pun.
Anw, I feel much better lah kalau dah takde nausea..leceh betul.
Yesterday I went for a haircut! Sedap sikit, kalau tak my rambut buat i mcm org sakit! Feel so much better with shorter hair.

istanbul is at blk 476 tampines st 44. the coffeeshop opens from morning. in the morning Stall #2 sells nasi melayu with lauk-lauk & lontong, Stall #3 sells nasi lemak, mee rebus, bubur, etc and Stall #4 sells mee siam, mee soto, prata, gado-gado, mee baksoh, bol, etc.
in the afternoon, Stall #2 will sell chicken rice (including nasi ayam penyet) and western food, and Stall #3 will sell rojak cina, rojak bakar, satay, kerang (the boiled kind you eat with sambal) tahu goreng, kway teow pedas, kway teow kerang.
Istanbul Seafood Restaurant (Stall #1) will only open at 3pm and stays open till 11pm. they sell your typical chinese muslim food lah, eg all sorts of rice, all sorts of noodles, then assorted dishes, eg, soups, chicken, beef, fish, sotong, crab, prawn, veges, etc. very nice the food! my faves - sambal beef fried rice, beef hor fun, sambal kai lan, vietnam chicken, chili crab! YUMMY!! all 3-4 cooks they have there are chinese, but the owner of the stall is a malay couple. the husband mans the stall EVERYDAY, and we all know him very well already. every week when he sees my buy so much food from him he knows my parents are visiting from JB!
the western food stall i patronise is in the coffeeshop next door - you will see a chinese man cooking the food, and his "helper" is this malay lady that looks like a chinese. you can't miss it, cause their queue always very long esp. at dinner time. i always buy the fried chicken wings fr there, sampai the lady pun dah kenal i, i don't even need to tell her my order, she nampak i aje she knows what to prepare for me! hee...
but then i hardly ever buy anything else from the western stall so i don't know if their other items are nice or not. but i will definitely recommend their chicken wings. every time i have guests over for dinner i will buy the chicken wings and everyone says it's very nice. even my FIL, who used to own & run a western food stall, and is VERY fussy abt his food, says the chicken wings are very nice.
