Any comments on Geraldine Tan (Thomson Women's - Katong)

She was my gynae during my first pregnancy and I gave birth to my girl in Jan-2009.
Dr Tan is a very nice, assuring and cheerful lady. I went for Cesarean due to breech baby. Her stitching was very well done.
I recommended her to my colleague as well and she was also happy with her service.

But heard that she had increased her fee quite alot. I'm not sure what is the "market rate" now, but her package and fee was reasonable to me during my pregnancy in 2008.

hi girls! i'm new at this..

just like sillydolphin's question..is Dr Tan also good at ttc women? been trying for 1 year already..

or who would you recommend for a fertility doc? i'm staying at the east too.

thanks!

Switsunny.. I'm under her. I'm TTCing as well.. more than a year. She is very patient ie. she will answer your queries and urge you not to give up. I did IUI under her as well but it was unsuccessful prolly cos I was stressed with work that month. She was very nice during the IUI, trying to calm and soothe me cos I was in a bit of pain.

She is very pro-natural and won't force you to take medication or go for IUI/IVF. If you want a doctor who is like that then you should go to her. However, if you want a doctor who wants to test for this and that, then perhaps she isn't the right person.

I am comfortable with her cos she makes me feel calm. And the waiting time is not long. Her assistant is also always friendly.

Any idea how experienced Dr Tan is? I am currently seeing her and find her very professional and assuring but I am just afraid she might not be experienced enough to deal with emergency situations.

I have been followed up with Dr Tan since 2008.. she is very caring and rest assuring. A great gynae with lots of personal touch and will never rush through each consultation which my hubby and i likes it alot.

Her assistants also quite knowledgeable especially Jasmine who has been working with Dr Tan very long time. Jenny, a new assistant just joined and also not bad.. both of them are really helpful too!

Would definiety recommend her!

thnks ixoral! did she help to deliver ur baby? wld u happen to know which doc she uses for the epidural? how abt the oscar test & the detailed scan? i heard fr jasmine that it's either at NUH or TMC, which one is better?

Oscar test is taken during 1st 3months and detailed scan at 20wks onwards. Difference is in their pricing. TMC charges slightly higher, but waiting time is shorter

Haven been looking at this thread for the longest time ...

Here's my story ...

When I first discovered dat I was preggie .. I went to a male gynae oppo my blk at tampines ... but I didnt like him cuz he was too "wood" plus I would very much prefer a female gynae .. So I went on the search on the web ... Those popular ones = long waiting time .. In the end ... I randomly chose to go to Dr Geraldine (maybe cuz her chi name is the same as my fren so got the familiar feeling ... haha) Luckily it turned out to be a wise choice ...

I didnt exactly have a smooth sailing pregnancy ... the 1st 3 mths was terrible and I suffered from mild dehydration ... Dr Tan was very comforting n sympathetic towards me ... gave me MCs to make sure I get ample rest ...

She was very supportive towards my whole pregnancy ... and I oways look forward to my appointments with her ..

I suffered from Bell Palsy during my wk 32 (inflammation of the facial nerves ... and I couldnt control the left side of my face ... It was so depressing that I cried myself to slp every day) During that time .. Dr Tan was on leave and her covering doc was very prompt in helping me ... referring me to the specialist for my conditions .. n once Dr Tan was back .. she got her assistant to call n check on me ...

I induced and delivered my gal when I was 38wk+ cuz she was getting a lil too big ... Natural with Epidural ... tough process but with an encouraging doc + delivery team n a supportive hubby ... I managed to squeeze out my 4kg bb~ =p ... Gotten quite a no of stitches cuz my bb's head was quite big .. so I've got a cut and a tear ... but rest assured with Dr Tan's stitching ... cuz my wound healed completely by the time i went back to her in 1 mth's time ...

Definately going back to her again for my #2 =)~

Hi all,

Her consulation charges are from $60 onwards and per scan is $60. My first check with her, including scan and paps smear was about $190. (recent)

She was my gynae for my first child which I gave birth in Dec 2008. And going back to her for my 2nd one now.

My experience with her as follows.

She is indeed very patient and always very assuring. After seeing her, it just give me the kinda of less intense feeling. Throughout the months for my no 1, she was attentive and gave advise very prompt. My experience for her doing the delivery was very very good. Throughout the process of delivery, she was very encouraging as I had difficulty pushing. However, she was very encouraging and quick to make accurate and wise judgement to the situation. After a while, she advised that she has to use assist. Very quickly the baby was delivered. To all of our greatest shocked, the baby had the UC round the neck twice. Guess my no 1 was really dancing too much inside :p Thank God that everything was done very quickly and did not affect the baby at all.

Afterwhich, she begin to do the stitching which knowing that usually a normal person would be scared, she talked to me and distracted me while she is finishing up the procedure after having delivered the baby. My wound had also recovered very quickly as she had done a good job. What I can say is that she gave me and husband a peace of mind.

That's my personal experience with her.

Hi Neuc,

Thanks for the update on Dr Geraldine Tan, do you have her latest package details? Her package starts in which week? TIA!

Hi,

I've known of a TMC gynae who has own clinic but still sees patients at TMC on certain days of the week. Wonder if dr tan sees patient at TMC too?

Hi,

I've been with Dr Tan for a few months now and I really like her bedside manner and professionalism.

What I don't appreciate however is the service provided by one of her assistants (Jenny). She is surly, unhelpful and dreadful to deal with.

Note also that the waiting room at the Katong clinic is very small (narrow hallway) and I often find that the assistants resort to speaking to you about your medical conditions in the open.

I don't think I've ever seen Dr Tan at the time allotted. Average wait is 30-90 minutes. This is typical at some clinics. That being said, I've never had such poor service in other clinics. Jenny has never once said that she was sorry that the appointments will be pushed. I truly dislike dealing with her on the phone and in real life.

Yup, that clinic assistance (the younger one) always show a face and during my first appt there i didn't know what to do and she didn't even attend to me while i was standing there gong gong. But Dr Tan is great tho.
