Hi mummies .. Another few weeks i'm going to deliver my baby boy at Mount A and my gynae have choose a Pd Dr Simon Ng from Babies and Children Specialist Clinic .. Search around the net but didn't find much comments about this Pd .. Another is with this PD ?

As a first time mum, i need to find a reliable PD and i've heard raves of some PD below .. Any PD that u strongly recommend ? i need a pro-breastfeeding PD which is very very important as no one supports me on bfing my baby in the family!

Dr Terence Tan Hwa Min - Kinder Clinic Pte Ltd

Dr Ong Eng Keow - Singapore Baby & Child Clinic

It will be better if u can let me know rougly the charges of each PD .. Don't mind paying if the PD is really good ..

Thanks

Dr Simon Ng sees my daughter since she was born. Initially, I feel weird that he don't have much eye contact with me during consultation. But overall, he is good. So till now we still stick to him and go all the way to Mt A to see him.

His charges I have compared with my friends and he is one of the cheaper ones. I think $40 for consultation excluding medication. Let me see I can find any receipt from his clinic and let you know.

Dr Terence queue is too long. And when your baby is sick you don't want to wait too long to see a doctor.

Yes, agree with bbrooster.

Dr Terence's waiting time is super long.
He was my son's PD when he was born but we switched PD after his review is over with him.

It could be frustrating waiting so long as bb needs to sleep and be fed. Also it means we have to pay more for parking...

Hi,

I was thinking of getting Dr Terence as my baby's PD, but it seems that everybody mentions that his waiting time is long. Does this happen despite having an appointment made? Or does this happen more when you walk-in with the baby?

My EDD is on Feb 16 in 2008, would any of you happen to know when I should contact the PD for baby's first appointment?

Thanx loads!

P.S. Did you guys deliver at Mt A too?

Esther,

If i am not wrong, they don't accept walk in as appointment is always full everyday. So yes, even if you have an appt, you have to wait very long.

I remember our 1st appt with him was about 1000am. We went there early thinking we won't have to wait for long but we only got to see him after 11plus. Be prepared for the long wait.

Do consider alternative if you have one and I personally feel the charge is not cheap too.

I will be giving birth to my #2 in Mt A also. My due date is 20 April. Did your doctor ask you to choose the PD? My PD was assign by my gynae. It was suppose to be Dr Terence Tan but he was on leave. So I was assign to Dr Simon Ng.

If I don't remember wrongly the hospital or the PD will give you a date to bring bb back for injection.

Hi guys!

I actually haven't asked my doc about this. I was actually under the impression that we would chose our on PD etc.

I'll probably ask my gynae about this the next time I see him.

I'll be delivering at Mt A, and I'm a first time mom, so am a bit confused about how things go ;p

kanec - I think I might seriously consider Dr Ong then. There aren't any PDs near our home, and we're keen to engage the services of someone for the long term, instead of visiting the polyclinic/ GP baby's health. We were originally interested in Dr Tan as the feedback was that he was a patient PD that would spend sufficient time with each child and help each parent out with their queries. (I guess that's why he takes so long per patient)

Thanx loads!!!

Hi Mel,

my girl's PD is Dr Simon Ng. I delivered at Mt A a year ago and she's seeing him up till now. He's an unassuming doctor. My hubby and I feel comfortable with him.

A couple with a preemie was featured in a recent Motherhood mag and they specifically thanked the neonatologist, Dr Simon Ng.

Your baby will be in good hands.

I recommend Terence Tan. It is true that the q for him is longer as parents feel more assured after their kid is seen by him.

My gal got Jaudine when I was about to discharge after delivery. He actually suggested me to stay 1 more day just in case my gal's problem get worsen and we need to rush back to hospital. We stayed 1 more day and true enough gal needed phototherapy. I also find him very caring, and patiently answer your questions. Feel good to know your child is in good hand. So if the pd nears my place can't solve problems, I will go straight to Terence Tan.

I'm delivered and now my bb is going 3 mths already .. Seen Dr Simon Ng till now .. I can say charges is reasonable and he is really good and detail .. Doesn't have to wait very very long ..

I was recommended to Dr Simon by my gynae too. My baby gal was under his care since born.. so far so good. just that the location of the clinic is far from my place...

Tried another PD in my area.. I still feel that his service and price is still the best. Will go back to him.

If I got a chance to thank him in the motherhood mag, I would definite do so.

My DD who is 2.5 years old now has been seeing Dr Simon Ng since birth at Mt. A. Initially I was complaining to my hubby that Dr Ng does not look confident to me whenever I asked him questions becos he seldom looked into your eyes when talking to you..hahaha..but over the times, I find him quite OK and his charges are reasonable. I feel at least he is not the PR type of doctor and one thing I like is that he never failed to return my calls whenever I left messages with his nurse to call me.

Btw, I dont like of of his nurses though..very blunt in talking and impatient

My son has been seeing Dr Simon Ng since he was born last Nov. Initially, i also find Dr Simon Ng alittle weird, i am not sure whether he is shy or wat. He dont give any eye contact and talk like a "machine" However, i find him treated my son's medical problems well and his injections to him i think is quite "light handed". My son hardly cried when he performed the injections.

I feel his nurses are OK...chop chop..pay and go! Dun need to waste our time and PR around. You yet to experience with the PD next door...my husband and i got a good scolding from him when we brought our son to him when Dr Simon Ng was away for his leaves :p.

oh bodhi, same here.

that a**hole KS Tan. The most horrid pd. he also was very mean and sarcastic to me when we were sent to him 3 yrs back when Dr Ng on leave. Why hasn't he been struck off yet? Not fit to be a PD at all..

I agree with Bodhi that Dr Simon Ng is "light handed' in the injection. My son has been seeing him since he was born. My son had finished all his jab and he had not cried during any injections if i don't remember wrongly

He is a very patient doctor. At times, he does have eye-contact and even smile on his face.

His nurses are not too bad. I find them ok.

Hi,

I am considering getting Dr. Ong EK as my baby's PD. Can someone share with me how much his first and subsequent consultation fees are? Many thanks!

my baby's pd is also dr simon ng. agreed wif everyone tt initially felt he's a bit weird but he is very gentle towards baby. being a first time mom, there was a time i left my baby at his observation table (is tt wad u call it?) n talked to him. he immediatly told me never to leave baby alone. he also encourages breastfeeding. when i was still in hospital, he came very earli in the morning, he doesnt barge in. he will call out ur name behind the curtain which i feel is very polite. some doctors might tink they are doctors so they haf the privilege to jus go in. b4 he leaves he always sae continue breastfeeding the baby. i dun like the old nurse too. i prefer the younger long hair one. lol

My 3 children have been with Dr Simon Ng and we feel really comfortable with him. My oldest is already 6 now. My initial comment abt him is also with the eye contact. But once you get pass that, I think he is a wonderful pd.

As for the pd that shares office with him... *&#(@*&(*Y#$ major a**hole! We had the 'pleasure' seeing him this May with my newborn when Dr Ng was away.. My baby was 5 days old during the vist and he was trying to yank off his belly button thingy. Also scolded me for not using a cotton bud to clean the inside of his nose??!! And he wanted to ward ds for jaundice.. I guess dh asked a few too many question and this a**hole dr asked him... ARE YOU FROM CHINA? why you have so many questions? We were like.. ??!!! Never go to him, ever!

My son is now 16 months and he has been cared by Dr Simon Ng since birth! He was assigned to care for my son when I delivered in Mt A. He is a no-fuss doctor and solves the root cause of ailments. He is polite and patient.. doesn't conduct himself with airs. I like the way he has his baby care tips printed into leaflets and dispenses it to us. E.g. How to wean your baby. What to do about fever. etc.... It certainly help first time mommies like me. I like his operating hours too. Mon-Sat: 8.30am-12.30pm, 2pm-5pm.

My kids have been seeing him for the past 4 years even since they were born. As mentioned by most mommies in this post, he is very unassuming and gentle. I feel that he is a someone who is NOT motivated by the monetary rewards of being a doctor but for the love of children.

Hi
Doc Terence Tan is good, very patient and answer all my question. and is worth the wait to see him as he treat you like a friend and give you lots of advises.

When you leave a message for him, he is bound to return call no matter how late

Dr Ong Eng Keow - he is quite kind and fatherly. knowlegeable.. but i cannot stand the waitng time in his clinic even though we have appt with him, we still have to wait for abt an hour. my recent consultation bill is abt 38+ with FBI discount.

he is very pro-breastfeeding. he is not even supportive of baby drinking expressed milk. somestimes he can be quite harsh...

unless, i need to go back to tmc*touchwood*, we will not be goin back for jabs or followup. it is not convenient for us as we live in sengkang.

where is simon ng's clinic??
hwo much is his consultation?
anyone has taken 6in1 at his clinic?

how much is it??

simon ng's clinic is at mt a, 2nd level. I think his consultation is about 40-60 but that was 4 yrs back... never taken 6in1 with pd coz it's ex compared to my family doctor...

Hi.. the consultation charge for Dr Simon Ng is still $40. I delivered in April and i went back to him jus to confirm that my gal doesnt haf jaundice..

He speak quite soft n politely. initially i oso feel that he doesnt haf eye contact with us.. jus finish his speech.. after reading comments on him, then i realised, it's not a main issue.. =) n yes he is very nice by giving us a phamplet on what shld do n shld not do during certain age of the baby..

His admin gal is still okie. but the neighbour PD admin lady is really stuck up!

Dr simon is gd! There's once my boy is sick and he say me to monitor him if he's still sick might hv to admit.. After a few days he call me personally to follow up. I was surpise despite his busy schedules he try to call me. Very appreciate his kind thoughts!!
