I get nauseous after taking my morning vitamins of iron, calcium and fish oil. As for drinks, am drinking 2 in 1 high calcium milo, ginger tea, honey water, anlene milk and cold chrysanthemum :p . Food wise I'm still eating sashimi, salads, rojak, satay.. guess second round more relaxed. Intense craving for soya bean though @^@

I had Japanese udon soup and chawan mushi for dinner, my husband still offered me his salmon sashimi, but I rejected.. He kept saying one slice should be fine.. Aiyah, Should have read u gals comments earlier! Hahaa

I still feel nauseous in morning and evening.. My appetite hasn't come back yet. I hope morning sickness will come to an end soon!

Mummies may I ask which Gynae are u seeing and which hospital will u be delivering in?

Hi Didy

I'm seeing Dr Joycelyn Wong from TMC.. Most probably delivering at TMC as well. Need to arrange for their hospital tour one fine day.

How about yourself? :)

Dr John Tee from kkh.. :)
This name rings a bell.. is he the A/Prof who does CVS and amnio procedure too? Can't rem is John Tee or John Lee ... The one I know is an slim uncle ...
If he's the one, I would highly recommend him too, he left a very great deep impression in me ...

Hello everyone,

I just received my Oscar result last week.
As I thought everything will be fine, I went for the NT scan and receive the result all by myself.
Everything seems fine for the NT scan, I can see my baby's form and movement. I was so happy to see my baby seemingly dancing in my tummy.
But nothing prepares me for the news when the doc told me that my blood test result put my baby in high risk for down syndrome.

This is my 1st pregnancy after trying for 7 years and I was totally not prepared for the news.
I was devastated and I was alone receiving the news.
I held back my tears, listening to this consultant explaining to me the options that I can go for.
I was not able to make the decision myself alone, so I called my hubby.
My hubby was surprisingly calm at the news and very assuring. He opt for the harmony test as he doesn't want to risk the miscarriage for the invasive test.
I was a total wreck for that day, couldn't do anything.. just crying non-stop.
It's not good for my baby.. I know..

The next day, I braced myself to do more research regarding Oscar results and where I can seek a 2nd opinion.
I was more hopeful after all the research. While still worried, I am praying very hard that the Harmony test will come back fine.
I am also going for the genetic scan by Dr Anandakumar @ Camden Medical.

It's a 2 weeks wait for the Harmony results and appt with Dr Anadakumar.
Meanwhile, I just continue to talk to my baby and be strong together with mommy.

For all the mummys who are experiencing this tough period, let's stay strong and pray for the best!
Stay strong!

Hi mummies, I have just returned from Prof Ananda's clinic. He gave me good news, as he said he has found no physical abnormalities in my baby. my risk has reduced from 1:428 (from oscar test) to 1:1019 (from genetic scan with prof ananda). so hubby and I decided to let matter rest here and not proceed with amnio test. it is really a huge relief. and seriously, prof ananda is the most professional and expert one i have seen before. he did measurements which i have not seen any gynae or sonographist do before. mummies who need 2nd opinion, i highly highly recommend him.

oh prof ananda gave me a bonus as well. he scanned and showed us that we are carrying a girl!! :)

i wish all mummies here good luck. thank you for keeping me in your prayers, and i will continue to pray for you and your little one as well. most importantly, please keep positive.
Congrats! That's a good news

Yes, he gave me a lot of reassurance while he do the CVS for me ( cuz I ask for the FISH test which gives the result faster in 3 days ) ... Then he told me don't worry so much cause my rush altho high risk, is not very high too and calculate the % risk for me to relieve me .. And I can keep the money for better use ... I didn't even get that level of comfort from my own gynae...

Wow that's great! Good to have a gynae that's so reassuring :)

Been trying to find out more info abt him. Do u know what the delivery charges are?
Am not too sure about that.. but my cousin working in kkh says usually the total bill staying in A1 Ward with natural delivery is around 5k+.. before cpf and all the grants.. but each routine visit now I'm paying around $97, for consultation, ultrasound and urine test..

Any mummies have been added successfully to the Facebook secret group? Bubblepearl has kindly added me but I still did not receive any confirmation and could not see the group. Not sure why.

Mine is without vitamins.. so maybe that's the difference? not sure whether the vitamins will cost $100 though.. A1 Ward is private.. single bed.. I've crossed checked against mount A's prices and the package for single bed is lower in kkh as compared to mount A.. so I think there's still a bit of difference..

I wonder if deliver in KKH can claim more for medisave. Could I ask how does one make an appointment with him?

Oscar has 2 parts - blood test and ultrasound. From the time u take blood test until ultrasound is about 2 weeks. If u take the blood test first, u will know the results on the day you go for ultrasound... Thats for KKH , not sure the arrangement at other hospital is the same.

Leanne, I did my oscar at TMC. Scan and blood test on the same day. Wonder how long do i hv to wait for the results?

Mine takes 1 week. Ultrasound u will kind of know immediately cos the sonographer will explain to u in details the measurement of ur baby. So I will know normal or abnormal. . Blood test will be in a week when they send the report to gynae and ur gynae will explain to u the risk is high or low..

Some mommies got calls from clinic but mine is when I meet my gynae

May I know whats the cut off for NT reading? The sonographer told me the cut off is below 2.5mm. But when I read the thread, seems like different.??

I got my oscar results within the week. Had blood drawn on Monday, and results back on Friday. As for scan, merely only did NT scan, not even nasal bone scanning. I didnt know about nasal bone until after I read up on forums after my oscar test.

My gynae says NT below 3.5mm is the cutoff but really, they like to see NT of 1-2mm. Anything beyond 2mm it seems could be of increased risk from what I researched online.

My NT measured 3.3mm by two different gynae and both confirmed on the thick side. My oscar returned with >1:50 risk ratio for combined NT + trisomy 21. Low risk for trisomy 13 and 18. Risk ratio for trisomy 21 on its own was 1:406 i think, it's when combined with the NT measurement that heightens the risk.

Hope this info helps.

It will take awhile for the blood test to come back from the lab, but I'm not sire how long the lab takes but looking at what others post, about a week gua... Kkh made us go for blood test first so we can know final result on the ultrasound

From what I encounter, don't read too much into the Oscar... One in every 20 mommies get high risk for Oscar ... So u calculate the total # of pregnancy inSG actually many will get that kind of false negative ... Mine was 1:170 for trisomy 13, low risk for 18 and 21... My blood work sucks cause my PAPP-A and HCG is very low ... NT scan 2.2mm which is normal and nasal all ok.. just the blood workis bad, so I went for CVS right after CNY ...

ladies, do you still feel queasy at this stage? My nausea went away last week but it seems to have returned slowly since Saturday and now in full swing. I do not actually throw up (not at all so far) but the thought of food makes me want to puke. It's just that wanting to puke feeling all day, and it gets intensified towards end of day.

Wondering if anyone of you still feel this way though we are into our second trimester.

yes I still do once in a while, esp when I have a long day at work, probably due to stress/tiredness, etc. try slow down a little & drinking hot milo/cereal helps ease the queasiness.

Queasiness went away for me completely once I hit 14th week. Appetite is back to normal again. Was a hungry hippo during 1st tri.
Btw anyone feels their bump is shrinking?? There are some days I feel like I am going to explode but others, I feel like not pregnant, ie no bump. The mystery of the elusive bump.

yeah my bump seems to shrink in the morn, even smaller than 1st tri. makes me wonder if baby is still there & growing well. hahha. think coz lesser bloating now ba.

I wonder if deliver in KKH can claim more for medisave. Could I ask how does one make an appointment with him?
I made an appt online on their website, stating my preference. They called up the next day to confirm and to check on the earliest possible date that Dr John Tee can squeeze in.. for first consultation It's slightly more costly, around $130. Subsequent visits are usually kept below $100 excluding vitamins..

Agree with Leanne, don't read too much about the cut-off point because ultimately, it have to cross check with your blood test too.
I went for my Oscar at TMC and have to wait for a week.

Anybody here gets the hardening feeling from your tummy? Sometimes when I lie down, the tummy gets really hard n the bump is really obvious

No I don't, I can't really feel the bump ... Maybe just look fat at the tummy. But the hip pain is quite irritating for me, esp at night
