Hubby don't know how to speak or listen. Haha! My in laws & his sis speak cantonese cos his mum is cantonese.

jasmine - My hb and mum are hainanese too. So I can speak that language.



Hockchew is a minority group. Quite near to Hokkien/Hing Hua/Hock Ching geographically I heard. Language wise, somehow I feel it sounds like Malay. Wahaha! I never managed to learn it from my late grandpapa. Some common food from Hockchew - Hockchew Fish Ball, Red Wine Chicken, Bai Guo etc.

Jasmine - Of all my growing up years, I only know 2 Hockchews outside my family. A senior in sec sch. And a classmate in JC (she came from Sabah and I was told there are ALOT of hockchews in Sabah).



But...surprise surprise...I came back to a former company in Nov last year. 4 years ago, this was a small unit made up of about 5 staff. Now it expanded into a unit of around 100 staff. Now among 100 of us, there are about 6-7 Hockchews! Haha. Maybe we arent that minor afterall
