maybe he caught a flu and his mucus from his nose is green and sticky. cannot breathe thru nose. v hard for him to slp.. keep waking up.. doc only give ventolin to clear airway and nose drop to dry the mucus..asked me to dont worry if temp below 38. if above, only sponge him... last night hit 39.5... i worried.. and i called my sil whether can give brufen.. she calculate his weight and asked me to give 1ml brufen for him. and it's v v mild. for now, his temp is fine.. not sure about night time.. hope temp dont go up again..

when u bring bb to jab. gp usually will give Dhamol for fever? That one can give for fever.



my case special. cos my boy got rashes after taking Dhamol.. so i v headache... Brufen is a stronger medicine..tat's why can only give when temp over 38.5 degree.. and it's advisable to give 6mth old above.. argggh.. i really hope he will outgrown this drug allergy.

then previous jab nv give paracetomol in case of fever? normal doc will give just in case . cos it's norm for bb to have fever after jab.



those can be kept in fridge if nv consume.

 
I jus called KKH lactation consultant and I told her I start small amt of cereal for my boy. She immediately ask me to stop. Cos might cos complications eg, intestine will tied up into a knot and Bb can't digest. Scary leh.

 
a few days nv come in, so hard to catch up. i got the quote from Mandarin Orchard. $65++ (hi-tea)

I tried changing his newborn teats to the no 2 teats last night. it seems like he drank a little faster. i don't know whether i am imagining things but as i was washing the teats this morning i realise the flow of the no 1 teat is faster than the no 2 teat.



i hope the problem really lies with the teats cos i agree with mvh, i think he is not drinking enough.

how come the lactation consultant say cannot feed solids yet?



I have not let him try solids ...cos i want him to be on bm as long as possible. but i am starting to try out the available cereals in the market. I think cerelac is too sweet... personally i won't give that to my bb.

 
scooby2010, my Bb only 5mths old today so she asked me to stop and wait till 6mths then start. She say recommended by WHO and MOH.

I nvr cut down on BM. Cereal feed only for him to fill full and sleep thru.

I think I will stop bah.

My bb got a flu in mid dec when he just turn 4 months. the doc gave him aerius (allergy cos i complain that he have nose shit everyday), bambec (for cough), rhiniramine (for runny nose), fumucil satchets (for phelgm).



i also got the flu from him and i did not take any medicine... just take more vit c so that i can produce antibodies and transfer the antibodies to him via bm to make him heal faster.

 
If you hv not cut down on bm i think it should be okay. I guess she is worried that u might cut down on bm cos bm have lots of nutrients.

 
are you gals and guy all working? i am thinking of quitting after getting my bonus.

miss my bb. hope that i can see him grow up ...at least for the 1st year.

 
Jasmine, can ask if u add cereal in yr sweet potato purée? Today I made sweet potato purée n added 2 tablespoon of cereal n milk to 80ml.. Guess wat! She rejects at first mouth. Keep sticking out her tongue n refuse to swallow.. In e end, I gave up halfway. 40ml left. Mostly on e floor, bib, face, hands.. Did u give pure sweet potato purée or mixed? I think e purée still got tiny little humps as I use fork n spoon to purée.. But already quite fine le I think.. I also realize sweet potato got a little 'si' aka food hair?

 
Scooby, so how is yr bb drinking today? Better after changing the teat?

Btw, I took no pay leave till my gal is 1 yr old.. Maybe u see if ur co allows?



Jascmy, ya most professionals will recommend to feed bb after 6 months coz scare bb intestine n stomach not fully developed to take in adult food.. N also allergy problem. They will say if start food early might have higher chances of allergies. Nevertheless it all depends on individuals I guess.. As long as u r comfortable wif what I do to yr bb.. My elder gal I intro cereal at 5.5 months. My lil gal I start her at 5 months 1 week..

 
Alibaba, dis here other fever/pain relief medicine other than dhamol? Is the dosage for brufen n nurofen the same? Coz my elder gal has high fever last few weeks, the pd said nurofen dosage is higher than normal dhamol dosage. Normally she drinks 3 ml of dhamol but nurofen he said 5 ml..

When choosing the sweet potatoe, don't choose the roots type. They have alot roots, bb will get choke. Usually u can see from external. Roots tend to grow outside of the skin and they are quite slim.

for all purees, i will let him try the original taste first. if he really don't like, then i will add cereal. did you let her try pure sweet potato puree first? for my boy, he loves sweet potato. so i didn't add any cereal. food hair?? hmm, not sure for yellow fresh one but orange fresh one don't have.

Oh ya, I give pure sweet potato puree. I nv mix with anything. But got a friend told me not to give too much as it's not easily digestible 'and can retain gas in stomach

You on total bf? If total bf, must wait till bb 6 mths then start solid.

Otherwise, can start at 4 mths when bb is ready.

 
i left the civil service so that i can try working in the pte sector. if i have stayed on in civil service it would hv been easier juggling my work and bb. pte sector is a little more difficult.



the current nursing room in my co is currently use as a nursing room cum store. although they hv no qualms of me expressing i guess i hv lost all my drive to work hard as i have to wake up at night to express. my hubby does the feeding. early in the morning hv to fetch him to my pils... night time fetch him back ... so tiring and we don drive. we don hv a maid also.

bakaholic, yup, my boy on total bf. Thats what I heard and read too. Wait till 6mths for total bf Bbs.

I think I seriously have to stop cereal. Last time he poo poo 3times a day, now he poo once every 2days. And he keep making the sound like he some where not comfortable. I guess is stomach.

Scooby, you still wake up to pump at nite ah. I can't take it liao, very super tired. I stop nite pump on my 2nd day of work. Since my boy sleep thru liao so I tot I shld follow his feeds to pump. Maybe u can try that way too. The side effect is supply decrease but still enough for my boy's daily needs.

 
scooby2010, since u in civil servant, u can take those 1 yr no paid leave.. at least u can still go back after 1 yr.
