(2006/08) AUGUST 2006 MTB

Hi jas,
Yes, hubby is encouraged to attend with u esp. 3rd n 4th lesson. The staff told me that. Mine will start end of this mth.

Hi Kelly,
It was really a tough labour. Seems like most natural birth cases takes very long hours.

. Did doctor do any episotomy for you? If yes, is that pain when doing it? I think I will be the first who ask for epidural, really scare of pain......

Hi Wanli,
We are in the same class, i think. I took up 4.30-6.30pm class. And the class size was 25. Quite a big group.
I am also afraid of pain, most probaby,I may also ask for epidural. But when I know it was a large needle that poke into the spine, i was ..oops. Wonder is there any painless labour.hehe.

Hi Dino,
Yah, we will be in the same class

! I think chrys also. 25 is quit a big grp, including hubby then will be 50 people.

Yah, I scare needle also but heard many people said the contraction pain is far more scary than then needle....so better go for epi :p. and if you ask too late the doctor may not let you get the epi, so if you want must ask early.

Well Don let the pain scare u off... When I deliver my 1st gal, i didnt opt for epidural cos gynae didnt even ask me as i look still bearable though e pain is yeee! BUT mentally is v impt n experiencing e delivery pain is realli something that u wont be scare of anything in future!

Maybe im lucky cos my labour was abt 8hrs & e pain only last for 4hrs.. Heard that epidural had alot side effects not oni on us bt also bb.. when u had epidural, its not adivsable to BF ur baby first.. need to wait some duration which i not sure of..

But of cos if in labour for too long without food n energy definetly wont be able to push n overcome e pain.. well i can say experiencing e pain is realli something i realli treasure esp e whole process... so i now realli understand our mummies & grandma jus give birth without anything ARE GREAT!

Hi Wanli,
When u in pain to deliver bb. u wont even know ur gynae is doing episotomy! So... though thinking of the terrible pain BUT y not jus relax now n handle it when it comes? Cos we still have about 4-5mths time delivery... might well talk to bb more, tell bb to be good esp delivery, smooth & fast etc..

I have not attend any Pre Natal class.. well believe hb also don like lo.. esp if class is big n cramp.. Maybe jus guide him along with books reference bah.

CT,
not true tat u cant BF ur bb if u had epi. i had epi for abt 8hrs and my bb popped at 553pm, after he was cleaned up, i was stitched up, he was 'dumped' on me by e midwife abt 630pm. e midwife told me 2 breastfeed him. wah piang! i was starving (cos only ate 1 small bowl of fish porridge at 8am n had nothing else except water) n i had 2 feed my son. i latched him on 1 breast n a grouchy me stopped him for suckling after a few mins. i even told my husband 'angrily' 2 bring him away. i know it was kinda mean n i did feel bad for a while after tat but hey, i was in pain (fr e stitching up of my episotomy wound), i starving so badly until husband could hear my stomach growling in e quiet delivery suite (my 1-bedded room took a while 2 b ready cos no 1-bedded room availble, they converted a 2-bedded room into a 1-bedded room for me) and i was also dead tired.

there's a mummy who gave birth 2wks ago...didnt take epi for tis delivery (she had epi for her 1st delivery), was in pain so bad tat she can feel the episotomy!

for me, i didnt feel e episotomy but i could feel my gynae stitching me up (yup! poking tat area *ouch* wif e needle, pulling e thread thru). i squirmed in pain, jumped a lil n even my gynae was surprised i felt it cos i was still on epi. my gynae then had 2 give me a shot of local anaesthesia 2 block e pain.

my cousin gave birth in end feb, didnt use epi for 1st 2 pregnancies (she also said epi no gd, lotsa side effects, etc), had 2 resort 2 epi in e end cos she was in so much pain & tensed up until her cervix cant dilate beyond 3cm after being in labour for a while. after she was administered epi, she popped within 1hr.

my advice 2 all 1st time mummies, let ur gynae or ur body tell u if u need epi or other forms of pain-relief (there are 2-3 other types). different pp got different levels of pain threshold. for me, my pain threshold is NIL so definitely need epi for sure.

my labour considered average if u only look at e time fr when i was administered e drip 2 speed up e labour process. i had friens who was induced n labour was abt 10-12hrs.

i was also told tat subsequent labours would b shorter and my gynae confirmed likewise too. my GF who has 3kids...1st labour was 12hrs, 2nd labour was 4hrs, 3rd labour was 45mins.

Hi CT,
When u give brith to yr first baby, is it also by Dr Adrian??? We are having the same gynae. Wow u so young, already have 1 kid already.

Hi kelly,
Your boy is really cute. chubby, chubby. hehehe. Thank you for sharing yr labour experience with us. Sound a bit long labour. Peifu Peifu. Yah u r right, different people's threshold for pain is different. I have a gf when take her blood test also can cry. Then her gynae says she definitely will take epi, but who knows she didn't. She just took the laughing gas. Her labour also not that short. It is so ironical right.

Hi ladies,
For the antenatal class, how many times a wk?? Where u gals get the info from?? My hubby most probably busy with his work. I think if I attend, he can accompany me on Sat only.

Hi ladies,
For the antenatal class, how many times a wk?? Where u gals get the info from?? My hubby most probably busy with his work. I think if I attend, he can accompany me on Sat only.

Hi CT,
When u give brith to yr first baby, is it also by Dr Adrian??? We are having the same gynae. Wow u so young, already have 1 kid already.

Hi kelly,
Your boy is really cute. chubby, chubby. hehehe. Thank you for sharing yr labour experience with us. Sound a bit long labour. Peifu Peifu. Yah u r right, different people's threshold for pain is different. I have a gf when take her blood test also can cry. Then her gynae says she definitely will take epi, but who knows she didn't. She just took the laughing gas. Her labour also not that short. It is so ironical right.
