    (2001) calling all 2001 babies

hi spanielpups, that's very interesting how kids view things differently. When I told my kids to finish their food as other children have no food to eat, their response was "so if I finish my food, will the children have food to eat?".. I tell them that at least God's blessings are not...

    (2001) calling all 2001 babies

hello jsd, never too late :-) Welcome!! I am very new to the forum too. For me, I prefer to swop or let go toys / books /whatever that still has life in them with other nice mummies at this forum. I am a great fan of recycling and and want my kids to grow up understanding that life if not...

    (2001) calling all 2001 babies

Wow! This thread is so alive , very nice! Hi Fion, Ben10 is , I believe, the hottest thing right now with that age group. Surpasses transformers or bakugan. I think kids start writing journal in P1 , my girl did. Not sure about other schools. Hi Bernice, I bought this SMATH game from one...

    (2001) calling all 2001 babies

Hi Fion, you can always start too... its great fun actually. Every kid is crazy about something and mine is mad about ben10 and kungfu so we encourage him to create his own characters. Yesterday, he drew several funny penguin like characters and insisted the biggest penguin-like thingy is the...

Hi Olwen, I really admire your determination. Kids on mother's milk are stronger, smarter and healthier.. so your effort will definitely pay off. :-) Your mum is really a super mum. :-) Thanks for the compliment but I am not in the legal profession :-) long hours due to working across...

Hi Jessie, thanks! Actually, I think he is just average but because we encourage him to try new things , it helps to foster this kind of interest. Hi Olwen, its different for you! you got 4 kids, FTWM and a baby to look after and even pump at 3am. But honestly, do you want to try drinking...

hi all mummies, glad we are having fun sharing stories of our little darlings and tips on how to stay sane! My boy stayed away from childcare as he had tonsilitis. He was better yesterday and surprised me with a 6 lines story he wrote ( well , he said he thought of the story line and waited...

    (2001) calling all 2001 babies

hi spanielpups, like the way you put it to your boy about using the dictionary :-) and my boy pulls just about every trick mentioned here. In addition, he does the " Mum, I need to relax a bit now." trick and promptly lay down on the sofa, with a kiao ka posture, wriggle his toes and goes "...

    (2001) calling all 2001 babies

hi Fion, my girl asked me the same question "how do I get the question correct if i do not know the meaning of the words". I told her that's precisely why she needs to use the dictionary to search so that she will learn to study independently. If she still gets it wrong, at least this is not...

    (2001) calling all 2001 babies

hi Fion, I always encourage my kids to check the dictionary themselves. If they don't find the word or still can't understand, then I will explain.

    (2001) calling all 2001 babies

I agree with jesslyn how the presence of a parent fires up the kid's motivation. Unfortunately, its not a feasible option for me so I have to do the evening routine thingy and then get back to work on line around 10pm when they have gone to bed :-(

    (2001) calling all 2001 babies

hi Fion,Olwen, Frankly, I lived without a maid for a year when my kids were younger and I was also a FTWM. One morning, I woke up and saw a burnt out grouchy mummy in the mirror and I realised I wasn't being a good mother at all. Also, my view is that when I am 80 yrs old , there will still be...

Hi Olwen, yah very tiring and I am working on cutting back the hours. I don't see any penmanship exercises for my girl so should have asked the teacher how the kids were graded.

    (2001) calling all 2001 babies

hihi all, I have decided not to push my daughter to aim for 95 marks cos I think it is undue stress. My girl's school is not 1 of the future school and already standard is so high, I really salute Fion. I have already told my girl if she wants she can aim for it and start doing one chapter for...

    (2001) calling all 2001 babies

Hi Olwen, Fion, spanielpups, my expectations are simply as long as my girl did her best and scored around 87 for both languages and 82 for maths, I am very contented with these grades. I did notice she is very careless though , like what spanielpups do, getting her to check her work. The...

    (2001) calling all 2001 babies

hihi, congrats to all mummies who pulled through this and their kids who did reasonably well. I am very curious to get feedback from mummies out there with P2 kids as to what you consider as good grades that reasonable and over stretching the kid. Some of my friends think my expectations are low...
