    Our baby sometimes cries uncontrollably

Our boy, now nearly 1 year, cries very badly sometimes, and it is very hard to stop him. When he cries he is extremely loud. He also arches his back and it is difficult to hold him. It is like he is hysterical. If we get his attention he stops briefly but starts back up again, as though he is...

Irregular period (2 weeks) after birth

Our baby was born 4 months ago and my wife's period resumed around one and a half months ago. Strangely she has had three periods during this time. Roughly at 2 week intervals. Now she is going through her third. This is about half the normal time. I understand it takes a while for the body to...

    KKH Subsidised(Not TPS) or Private?

In our case sometimes the scan person commented that cannot see something (E.g - nose) as baby is turned to one side and have to wait till baby turns around. Seems like baby is very active inside as in the scan you can see it moving a lot. Maybe position problem? KKH have normal scan and...

    KKH Subsidised(Not TPS) or Private?

The delivery was supervised by a senior Indian lady doctor. But the actual delivery was done by a local Singaporean (I think) lady doctor. The Indian doctor was easy to understand for me. Most of the nurses we encountered were either Indian, Filipino or local or MY maybe. I did not feel that any...

    KKH Subsidised(Not TPS) or Private?

My wife went through the subsidized method for KKH from the beginning until delivery. Now almost 2 weeks since delivery. The limitation for subsidized is that you cannot go above Ward C and you cannot choose gynae. During your visits you may also have a student along with the gynae. Both of us...

Is it difficult to book cheaper maternity wards in hospital?

No. I am worried that I may not get to choose the cheaper ward as it is already very late and may be fully booked. I don't want to be forced into a Ward A or B1 as my wife feels it is unnecessary. We are happy to go with either C or B2 and spend less on this hospital stay.

Is it difficult to book cheaper maternity wards in hospital?

My wife and I are taking the subsidized pregnancy route for our first kid. So far we have not made any appointment booking for the delivery date in December. How difficult is it to make a booking for the cheaper maternity Ward C or B2? Just now found out that ward "tours" are full until...

    Dealing with joint pain

Hi everyone, I'm posting here on behalf of my wife. She is right now in her 5th month of pregnancy. She visits KK hospital for her scan and gyno checkup. Today after doing some walking she started to experience severe joint pain near to her pubic region on just one leg. The pain appears...

Anyone take the public route? Pros and cons vs private hosp

HI New mom, We went through National Healthcare Polyclinics. We filled in the online form for appointment (because we could not reach them by phone). After three days or so I received a SMS with appointment time. Appointment at the Polyclinic was for 5 days later. The alternative to this was to...

Anyone take the public route? Pros and cons vs private hosp

Hi all, Thanks very much for the very useful comments and sorry for this late reply. Since my original post we decided that we will follow the path of least resistance to start. If there was any complication we will escalate to meet a specialist, go private, look at options. So we set up an...

Anyone take the public route? Pros and cons vs private hosp

My wife is in the early stages of her pregnancy (7 weeks) and we are trying to decide the best route to see this through. We are looking for a doctor who will not jump to prescribe C section at the slightest complication unless it is absolutely necessary. That means a doctor who is not...
