The Best Kids Clubs in Southeast Asia Resorts
The fantastic kids’ clubs at these resorts in Southeast Asia will keep your little ones happily entertained while on vacation. This means mum and dad will be able to have a truly peaceful holiday – and some couple time as well!
When you’re travelling with kids in tow, everything becomes more complicated. You have more gear, you’ll need to schedule activities around naptimes and bedtimes, and itineraries must be planned to ensure kids don’t get bored. If you’d like to scratch that last item off your list, though, book your holiday at one of these Southeast Asia resorts. Their amazing kids’ clubs with fun activities (from kite making to boogie boarding) will keep the younglings out of your (holiday) hair so you can have your much-needed break. #1: The Empire Hotel & Country Club, Brunei
If you’re up for adventure, we recommend the ultra-posh The Empire Hotel & Country Club. Step into the regal-looking reception area, and you’ll be blown away. It boasts 11-storey high solid marble pillars with 21 carat gold trimmings in the reception area, so, yes – it’s luxurious. But youngsters are welcome! For the little tykes (four to 12 years old), there’s a children’s club which operates from 9am to 6pm daily. Drop them off after lunch, have a mojito by the pool, and pick them up for dinner. For a cozy night in, bundle everyone up and head to the resort’s private cinema!
#2: Sokha Beach Resort, Sihanoukville, Cambodia
Because Siem Reap is a tourist hot-spot, it can get a little crowded. So do the touristy thing and check out the Angkor Wat, then take a domestic flight to Sihanoukville. This lovely coastal city houses some of Cambodia’s most pristine white-sand beaches. Stay at the 5-star Sokha Beach Resort, where kids can be entertained from 8am to 8pm at the kids’ club daily. The resort also offers babysitting services, and 24-hour room service (in case kids get hungry in the middle of the night). Last but not least, the children’s pool at Sokha Beach Resort is adjacent to the main pool, so you can get catch some R&R while keeping an eye on your kids.
#3: Holiday Inn Resort Baruna Bali, Indonesia
If this vacation is meant to be a special treat for your kids, take them to Holiday Inn Resort Baruna Bali, which has an amazing array of’ activities that they’ll love. The Rascals’ Kids Club for children aged four to 12 is equipped with toys, game stations, puzzles, and books in various languages. However, if your child would rather be soaking up the sun, there are plenty of outdoor activities as well. We hear that one of the most popular activities here is the Cooking Class, where kids will pick up basic kitchen safety, then whip up tasty dishes to sample. If your child prefers something a little more athletic, enroll them in a Boogie Board lesson, where they’ll learn to ride the surf at the resort pool with the help of a trained instructor.

#4: Belmond La Residence Phou Vao, Luang Prabang, Laos
Avoid the hustle and bustle of this UNESCO World Heritage Town by staying at the Belmond La Residence Phou Vao. This colonial-style hotel is sits atop a hill just a short distance from the Old Town. You can request for extra beds, baby cots, and mosquito nets without extra charge. The in-house restaurant, Phou Savanh, offers a kids’ menu and has high chairs. While there’s no children’s pool, the saltwater swimming pool has tiered steps where little ones can frolic (with your supervision, of course). There’s also a cooking school (open to kids of all ages, as long as they attend with a parent or guardian) and archery for the older kids.
#5: The Westin Langkawi Resort & Spa, Langkawi, Malaysia
Ah, Langkawi. The land of picturesque paddy fields, turquoise blue waters, and excellent diving spots – what’s more is there to love? How about The Westin Langkawi? If you’re hoping to get in some alone time with your partner, sign your children up for the resort’s Kids’ Club (chargeable). They’ll get to go on activities such as nature walks, bird watching, and beach discovery. If you’ve been trying to wean your children off their phones and tablets, the activities here will help them reconnect with nature! In addition, Langkawi Wildlife Park is only a 20-minute drive from the resort.
#6: Novotel Yangon Max, Yangon, Myanmar
It’s hard to find family-friendly hotels or resorts in Myanmar. While many hotels provide rollaway beds or cribs, you’ll want to double check to see that they aren’t charging a hefty fee (up to USD70 per night!) for this service. A hotel with a kids’ club? We know of just one: the Novotel Yangon Max. Here, kids can enjoy a playroom, a video game zone, and play with foosball machines. And with three restaurants (serving Chinese, French and international cuisine) within the hotel, kids are spoilt for choice when it comes to food.

#7: Okada Manila, Philippines
Spanning over 40 hectares of picturesque oceanfront, Okada Manila is Manila’s biggest and most lavish integrated resort. You’ll be oohing and aahing over the hotel’s lobby, which is decorated with vibrantly pink and ornately decorated domes. But that’s not all – Okada Manila is also home to the biggest multi-colour dancing fountain in the world. Did you know that its design is inspired by the Philippines’ national flower, the Sampaguita? Shows start at 6pm daily. To keep your children occupied in the day, there’s PLAY, a fully immersive fun zone for kids which opened end-January 2018.
#8: Shangri-La Rasa Sentosa, Singapore
You can’t go wrong with Shangri-La – and at Shangri-La’s Rasa Sentosa Resort & Spa, Singapore, there’re tons of activities awaiting your young ones. Shangri-La’s Cool Zone, one of Singapore’s largest children’s clubs, caters to toddlers below the age of five (Mini Toots Club) and older children aged five to 12 (Toots Club). Both offer daily activities, with the Toots Club’s based on themes such as Pirate Tuesday, Adventure Wednesday, Zoo Thursday, Survival Friday, Circus Saturday and Sporty Sunday). Then there are the outdoor playgrounds, water slides, swimming pools, and splash pads too. If the kids can even bear to leave, Universal Studios, S.E.A. Aquarium, and KidZania Singapore are just a stone’s throw away.
#9: The Slate Phuket, Thailand
A 10-minute drive from Phuket International Airport, The Slate is an idyllic resort sprawled over beautifully groomed lawns. Kids will love the Tin Box Kids’ Club. Here they can enjoy cooking (“Little Chef” and “Little Sommelier”), Muay Thai (“Little Boxers”), and exploration-based activities. What’s particularly interesting is the “Little Night Safari” programme, which sees kids heading out at dusk to explore the flora, fauna, and local wildlife. In addition, the “Little Detectives” lets them have a scavenger hunt around the resort’s maze-like gardens. Furthermore, you can have a spa day with the kid at The Slate’s award-winning Coqoon spa, which comes with a dedicated spa menu for kids!

#10: The Dhara Devi, Chiang Mai, Thailand
Don’t want to travel too far, but still want to escape from the heat? Go to Chiang Mai. (In December and January, temperatures drop to 20 degrees Celsius in the evenings). We recommend staying at the Dhara Dhevi resort, where you can bond as a family through various activities. A must-try is the Rice Planting programme, done at Dhara Dhevi’s very own in-house rice paddies. You don traditional Morhom farmers’ clothing, ride through the rice paddies on a water buffalo, and try planting rice. Dhara Dhevi also has the excellent Lanna Kids Club in a traditional Thai teakwood house. Here, kids can learn fan and umbrella painting, Sa paper and Lanna style flag making, flower arranging, Thai dancing, yoga, and Thai boxing.
#11: Hyatt Regency Danang Resort and Spa, Danang, Vietnam
Hyatt Regency Danang Resort and Spa is just 15 minutes away from Danang’s international airport. In terms of child-friendly features, this resort has the usual kids’ pools and babysitters. What really steals the show is Camp Hyatt, their kids’ club. Regardless of how fussy your child is, there’s sure to be at least one activity that will tickle their fancy. Think craftsy stuff such as cookies decoration, lantern making, and ceramic painting, as well as outdoorsy activities such as wall climbing, kite flying. If your children can’t go without their screens, Camp Hyatt also has a mini cinema, Wii, and Playstation.
