To make the upcoming Easter long weekend an eggcellent one for you and your little ones, we bring you a list of 21 family-friendly happenings around town to busy yourselves with.

What’s better than a weekend? Why, a long weekend of course! We’re pretty sure you’re all psyched up to usher in the Easter long weekend that’s just around the corner. But are you also at your wits’ end not knowing what to keep your kiddos occupied with? That’s where we come in. We’ve rounded up 21 of the best family-friendly Easter activities and more that are happening around town this coming long weekend. So take your pick and hop to it!

1. Have a bouncing good time at Easterville at Cafe Melba

Cafe Melba’s Mediapolis and Goodman Arts Centre outlets have both got a fun-filled three day eggstravaganza lined up for families with kids this Easter. Their famous Easter egg hunt will be taking place on all three days at 10am and 4pm, so make sure your little ones are ready for some serious searching. Attractive prizes await the lucky winners! There will also be Easter themed colouring as well as a bouncy castle for tots to bounce their long weekend away. Need we say more?

The cafe’s Hoppy Easter Specials for kiddos include Easter milkshakes and hot cross buns! Hey, all that bouncing and egg hunting saps up lots of energy, you know?

2. Introduce your children to gardening at HortPark’s Gardeners’ Day Out

Got green fingers and have always wanted to introduce your little ones to gardening? Do just that by heading down to HortPark’s signature event, Gardeners’ Day Out! It promises a day of fun-filled gardening and lifestyle activities for everyone in the family. Highlights include a Gardeners’ Market, Food Bazaar, and talks and demonstrations by experts. What’s there for the little ones to do, you ask? Easter Egg Decoration at the Gallery (9am to 11am), an educational Garden Walk (10am to 11am) and Junior Butterfly Explorer (9.30am to 10.30am).

Registration is required for the Garden Walk and Junior Butterfly Explorer. You can do so at the Visitor Service Centre up to 30 minutes before the start of the activity.

3. Celebrate Easter by the Marina at Quayside Isle @Sentosa Cove

As part of Quayside Isle @Sentosa Cove’s Awesome April by the Marina, special Easter activities await your children during the Easter long weekend. While you enjoy an authentic Spanish Easter Brunch buffet at Sabio by The Sea, your little ones will get to take part in an Easter Cookie Bake-out (1pm to 2pm). Following that, get them to try their hand at winning the Easter Egg Colouring Contest! Each child will be provided with eggs and colouring materials.

4. Let imaginations run wild at Playeum’s hands-on exhibition, A World Full of Stories

A World Full of Stories is an interactive exhibition designed by Playeum for children between the ages of one to 12. It features nine unique environments and installations within which little ones can create their own tales and immerse themselves in the splendour of stories from different cultures around the globe. Benefits? The exhibition feeds children’s imagination, promotes creative literacy, and celebrates speech, language and drama while offering opportunities for story-building and role play.

5. Take part in Open Farm Community’s annual Easter egg hunt

In case you weren’t aware, Open Farm Community (OFC) – which rests on 35,000 square feet of green-land, is all about uniting local farmers, creative chefs and an innovative spirit. Truly a first-of-its-kind dining concept here in Singapore! Oh, and they’re big on Easter too. Their annual Easter egg hunt is back this year to delight little ones who will be roaming free in the restaurant’s garden with their baskets at the ready.

And what can the grownups do while the kiddos hunt for Easter eggs? Indulge in the OFC Easter Brunch and laze the afternoon away with a free flow of prosecco, house wines, and draught beers. If you’d prefer to be on your toes, have a go at a game of table tennis or lawn bowling.

6. Pig out on grilled delights at Skewer Supperclub at Timbre+’s 1st birthday bash

Timbre+ gastropark at One-North celebrates its first anniversary this April with a month-long birthday bash! 8. Go on an artistic voyage through the cosmos at ArtScience Museum

9. Enjoy the outdoors at The Party Elves’ Annual Easter Family Picnic

What do you need to enjoy The Party Elves’ Annual Easter Family Picnic? Purchase tickets for your kids, grab a picnic mat and you’re good to go! The games and activities lined up are great for tots aged two and above. They include The Party Elves’ signature Easter Egg Hunt, sack races, egg decorating, face painting, egg croquette and even a petting zoo! Entry is free for children under the age of two.

11. Catch an eggs-clusive appearance of the Smurfs at Jurong Bird Park

A parade of Smurfs have set up camp in Jurong Bird Park’s Waterfall Aviary, home to over 600 free-flying birds. 300 three-dimensional Smurf figurines will dot the two-hectare Waterfall Aviary which also boasts the world’s highest waterfall within an aviary! These mischievous little Smurfs have hidden 1,000 Easter eggs in the aviary and you are invited to embark on a hunt for them – stand a chance to win a prize if you find one!

Don’t forget to also seize the opportunity to snap a picture with the adorable Smurfs – the 30 metre tall waterfall makes for an impressive backdrop!

12. Celebrate ION Orchard’s 8th anniversary with a visual spectacle

In lieu of its eighth anniversary, ION Orchard is celebrating by transforming its outdoor space into an enchanted Glow Garden where flora and fauna are dressed in splendid lights and colours. Visit the mall in the evening and be treated to a visual spectacle accompanied by a symphony of lights and music. It makes for a great photo opportunity too! There are also light-themed activities like OOTD Fashion Workshops in the garden and illuminated cotton candy giveaways – the kids will be thrilled to bits!

13. Sit back and watch A Peter Rabbit Tale by the Singapore Repertory Theatre

Somebody’s gotta stop that bunny! Peter Rabbit causes nothing but trouble with his constant mischief. But when he breaks some rules and steals from Mr. McGregor’s garden, he knows he has gone too far this time. Afraid of what his momma might say, the only choice for this little fugitive  is to abandon his warm rabbit hole and step out into the big world! The tale, based on the beloved children’s classic by Beatrix Potter, teaches little ones the importance of family and the need to cherish loved ones. Awww!

A Peter Rabbit Tale is recommended for tots above the age of two.

14. Perk up your ears and listen to Rabbit Tales at Cluny Court

If your little ones love listening to stories, this is the activity for them this Easter long weekend. Bring your kids to Cluny Court where they can hear timeless tales about rabbits – they will be narrated by young storytellers themselves! From the proud rare in Aesop’s fables to the cunning Brer Rabbit who always has something up his sleeve, celebrate Easter with folktales that have stood the test of time.

This storytelling session is highly recommended for children aged four to seven.

15. Admire Precious Eggs from around the world at the Singapore Philatelic Museum

A collection of 148 one-of-a-kind eggs from the vaults of the Liechtenstein National Museum are now on show at the Singapore Philatelic Museum. The creations will tell you fascinating tales that reflect love, history, culture, art, faiths and traditions. Apart from painstakingly decorated quail, chicken, duck, goose, swan and ostrich eggs, there are also those crafted from metals, glass, porcelain, wax, crystal, marble, stone, and even reindeer horn!

While you’re there, tap onto the Precious Eggs network via a QR code and you can enjoy a 360 degree view of the egg you’re viewing on your mobile device! Ah, the wonders of technology. And that’s not all. The museum has got special activities for children lined up on Easter Sunday – 16 April 2017.

Easter Crafting (10am to 5pm)

Arts and crafts materials will be provided for your kids to make their very own fun chick-inspired pop-up craft which they can bring home as a memento.

Fun Quiz (10am to 5pm)

Visit the museum galleries and take part in this brain stretching quiz to stand a chance at winning exciting prizes! Children will hear all about the stories behind the beautiful stamps on display as they embark on an adventure around the museum.

16. Treat your tastebuds to delectable smoky creations at Siloso GrillFest 2017

The inaugural Siloso GrillFest will bring together 20 stalls offering Singapore’s best-loved BBQ treats and international cuisine by the idyllic Siloso Beach. Mix and match your favourite BBQ dishes and dine under the starry skies as the soothing sea breeze sweeps all your worries away. 18. Step into the world of Vincent van Gogh at Gardens by The Bay’s Tulipmania

This year, Gardens by The Bay’s Tulipmania draws inspiration from one of the most celebrated Dutch artists, Vincent van Gogh. Now into its fifth edition, the tulip festival has transformed the Flower Dome into a floral art gallery with two of van Gogh’s masterpieces – his self portrait and The Starry Night – recreated with tulips and hyacinths.

This year’s highlight? Darwin hybrid tulips which are known for their vibrant and large cup-shaped blooms. Trust us when we say you’re going to have a ball of a time trying to get that perfect shot to put on Instagram.

The renowned creative pop-up market from Thailand makes its highly anticipated debut in Singapore this month! Artbox Singapore also features music performances, open mic sessions and charity drives – there’ll never be a dull moment!
