The Hi-5 gang from Australia is returning to Singapore this December for a brand new theatrical performance. Win a pair of tickets to catch this fun and educational show!
One, two, three, four, Hi-5! Ah, who can forget that incredibly infectious theme song? Not us! And if your little ones are big fans of Hi-5, it’s time to rejoice! The award-winning Australian pre-school television and musical group Hi-5 is coming to the Marina Bay Sands this December with an all-new theatrical extravaganza, Hi-5 Fairytale! Get ready, this is going to let you see familiar fairytales in a different light – with a fun, zany, and educational twist!
The Hi-5 cast members – Dayen Zheng, Mary Lascaris, Tanika Anderson, Lachie Dearing and Chris White — are gearing up to take parents and their kids on an adventure of never before seen princesses and knights, travelling bugs, and dancing dinosaurs! You will be laughing along with the brave Prince of Knights, as well as Sir Bucket Head, as they try to awaken the beautiful but cheeky Princess Sleepyhead.
And have we mentioned that the adorable Hi-5 puppet Chatterbox will be bringing these fairytales to life as she narrates from her magical Hi-5 book of Sharing Stories? Your little ones will also get a chance to interact and engage with the cast and be part of the fairytales as they cheer on their favourite bugs! Speedy the Ant and Slomo the Snail will be racing each other for first place!
Even Jup Jup, the super cute alien who spontaneously turns up in Hi-5 episodes, will be present in one of the stories. For the first time ever, Jup Jup will be introducing to you his family members! That’s getting us excited already – we can’t wait to watch Hi-5 Fairytale!
The Creative Director of Hi-5, Julie Greene, has promised that Hi-5 Fairytale is going to be different from their other performances. How? Firstly, it will not just be a concert. “We are taking fairytales and Hi-5’ing them so the stories will have their own narratives. Parents who know the traditional fairytales are in for a good laugh and for children, they are going to see some great characters in the television show come to life on stage,” she promises.
With over a dozen unique costumes, life size set changes and state-of-the-art projection and lighting, Hi-5 Fairytale is all set to be a visual spectacle for both the young and old. But the production doesn’t just stop there. Hi-5 Fairytale will also help to improve children’s logical thinking, coordination, vocabulary and visual awareness. How’s that for edutainment?
Here’s how it works. Greg Suzuki, the Hi-5 Tour Director, explains, “What makes the Hi-5 shows a huge success is that we incorporate elements from the television series encompassing Howard Gardner’s and Jean Piaget’s theories of child development, and put it on stage.
Hi-5 Fairytale will focus on specific Hi-5 movement songs, dances, finger plays, games and rhymes to help children explore nature’s wonders, build team skills, use their imaginations and learn about the world through play.”
Oh, do remember to warm up those vocal cords (and remind the kids to do so too) before going because you’ll all be singing and dancing along to favourite Hi-5 songs such as ‘L.O.V.E’, ‘Wish Upon a Star’, and of course, ‘Living in a Fairytale’! A fun-filled family adventure with Hi-5’s signature elements such as imagination, problem-solving and positive play? Sounds good to us! Ready to win some tickets to Hi-5 Fairytale?
