KKF, 30+4 is very good progress, keep it up! You will be my inspiration when I decide to have another child next time.
gg11 too. Keep it up.
Update on us:
Yesterday, my boy is 2 months old. That is 61 days in the SCN.
Good news are, his MRSE sepsis is cleared few days ago(this was what caused him to be intubated in the first place, by weakening his lungs and causing lots of secretions). He is now taking 20ml EBM every 2 hourly which is good. His TPN central line has been removed, which is another good news as this could be another source of bacteria colonization. Also, no more apnoea. And he can do his suckling motion now
So cute! Oh, and he is 1.78kg now (birth weight was 885grams @ 27weeks)
Bad news is, he is still intubated. That making him about 1.5months on the ventilator. Therefore, he is offcially diagnose as having Chronic Lung Disease (one defination = more than 28days on ventilator). He also still have lots of secretion requiring frequent suctioning by the nurses. It's on low settings though.
The doctor is thinking of giving him a short regime of steroids for his lungs to get him out of the ventilator, and is awaiting our consent. We don't know what to do (read plenty studies on effect on brain cells, etc). I am very anxious and worried about what is the right thing to decide for our lil boy. We have not consented, and is hoping that he improves without needing it. Want to give him more time - but dunno for how long? Until after his EDD? (mid Jan)
Sigh.. definitely not feeling festive.
