November 2017 Mummies

Hi Congrats to all mummies & daddies.. nice to meet you guys!

2nd time mummy here. I have a 19 months old boy.. scheduled my gynae appointment this friday. Hope everything turns out fine.

Btw is anyone feeling colding? Weirdly i have been feeling very cold especially in office/aircon. I dont remember feeling such 'cold' last pregnancy. And MS seems to start already...... *feeling nauseous almost whole day* Im like 6weeks 3 days today according to the apps.. :)

Woo, that's quite similar situation as me.
My son is 20 months old and my gynae appointment is this Friday too.
And yea, have been kind of feeling nauseous whole day long as well.

Anyone like mi here huh dun have ms but more ls haha im thinkingis it bcoz i dun have ms so it become ls haha

the 2ww is really killer. imagine my previous on still ectopic. haiz
Dont worry! It will go well for you this time round! I kept telling myself to leave it to fate. Cos i dont think i will want to go thru this again. So it is either one child or none for me.

Hi all. If anyone else know the good doctor recommendation for me at Gleneagles Medical Centre? Because 32 specialist gynaes are listed on website, furthermore this is my first time gynae. That's why If you have any recommendations, please share with me. My concern is costwise. I won't mind to go other places. Thank you.

Hi Yurih! Have you been to your gynae appointment yet? I went for my first appt at Gleneagles Medical Centre under "International Women's clinic". Dr Ang :)

Ya brown when I poop, today is 3rd day.. red was the day I come home from the internal check - think the check triggered more to come out :(

I believe the jab I took helped.. nurse vaguely mentioned every week need to jab till wk 12.. sounds a bit too much.. hai.. I'm due for internal scan again nxt Friday, w6d1 (every wk).. fingers crossed!

Are u also doing weekly scan? My dr/nurse asked me to go back immed if I see red or increas in brown (touchwood)..

Best of luck to u (us!),hope it goes away soon.. Lots of bed rest n take the pill diligently..

Yeah, hope all our symptoms will go away soon! :)

I'm not on weekly scan though.. just saw gynae today and felt very much assured that baby is doing well! Can hear the heartbeat already. Now 8wks 3days.. will b seeing him again in early may. Hope all's well till the next checkup!

I think I am the only one who seems to be experiencing all pregnancy symptoms! Nauseous, cold, breathless, tiredness all day long! One part of me hope all these symptoms will go away soon.. but another part of me hope it won't stop.. cos if yes, I will be paranoid if my baby is still OK or not if I do not have any more symptoms.

If ur ms is too bad, u can ask ur gynae to prescribe you anti vomiting pills.. I got some from my gynae.. but will only eat if it's very bad..

E
I have spotting for all my pregnancies and they turned out ok. Including for this one I'm also spotting brown.

I'm also super breathless nowadays! So frustrating I can't even do a simple workout without feeling super tired!

That's a relief to hear that! Anyway doc also doesn't understand why I'm spotting.. noticed that these few days seemed to have stopped though.. *fingers crossed*

Gynae also told me to refrain from exercising since I'm sort of unstable.. so just rest and eat healthily until trim 2..

huh... i wanna go one more so i hav 2... unless this one surprise me with twins

I was also contemplating whether to do the test. I discussed with my gynae, she said for those who take the Oscar test is more for those who want to take action upon knowing that your child might be Down syndrome.

If you are the kind who will keep the baby no matter what, then there would be no point doing it.

In my other mummies group, there was talk about how the Oscar test has a higher incidence of false accuracy and might cause false alarm. Seems as if people are opting for other tests. I'm not sure if there is any latest feedback on this from the obgyn?

Haha. That's true! Very xiong for twins! And gonna be very difficult! But it will be double the fun!

Ooo. Cos i think if i say medical appt, my boss will assume i taking leave. She's ang moh. So i think she will not be happy for me to take mc when i am going for medical appt. She surely think i should use my leave instead.

I got discharged from KKH for hyperemesis gravidarum. Now on metoclopramide and vitamin b6 to control nausea and vomiting. I find that vitamin b6 in the morning really helps me. I was also given potassium pills... Sigh! Have to tough it out for a few more weeks...

My gynae is pushing for CVS on the 11th week, which is about 2 weeks from now.

I think the decision will be a difficult one, whichever way the parents decide. I hope none of us have to make this decision.

Ok, so there are CVS / panorama = harmony / oscars tests. Hmmm I'm 37 probably doc will advise me to skip oscars.

Haha we are of same age!

Broadly, there are 2 kinds of tests ---
1) Invasive (small risk of miscarriage): Amnio, CVS
2) Non invasive (no risk of miscarriage): Panorama, Harmony, Oscar

Hi, can u share with me why your Gynae purpose CVS instead of harmony test?

Lol. I just realised the typo. LOL. I'm a May 2015 mummy. Son's 23 months now. Now assuming 2nd one is Nov baby, probably 2.5 years gap, which I think it's pretty ok, I HOPE. Haha.
Yeah 2.5 is okie i think.. and most importantly baby is healthy and we will get the baby girl dust this time round! Haha

Harmony offers high accuracy but it is a screening test. If I understand correctly, all non-invasive tests are screening tests.

CVS is a diagnostic test, so we'll know for sure the result.

My gynae's reasoning is that if I do not have a good result from Harmony, I will have to followup with a CVS. So he suggested going for CVS straight.

Is anyone experiencing breakouts? My skin is getting terrible with the breakouts and i think my usual skincare isnt helping. Any recommended skincare that we can use during pregnancy?

ahhh... no wonder. not pro family. hahaha!!! next wk! scary ...

hi 5, i m also may 2015 mummy and currently expecting no 2 which will most likely due in Nov 2017...

I just done the panorama test today coz only harmony and panorama test can be done at the early stage. i m 35 this yr and my oscar test for my 1st baby was quite bad and i end up having to do CVS which result was ok.. so to me oscar test results is not accurate and thus i decide to move on to do panorama.

pro and cons about the different tests:

Panorama and harmony - can be done very early at wk 9 and results is 99% accurate however very ex and it only test a few things (not as comprehensive as oscar)
oscar - result is probably 90% accurate and for those who are not young since they derive the % taking into account of your age, the likelihood of getting a bad results is quite high. however the test is quite comprehensive and afforable.
CVS and amnio - accurate result and affordable but there is a small risk to the test which will cause miscarriage.

since i can claim the charge i decide to do the panorama extended test.. they only draw blood for this test.

Ok that's sound reasonable. CVS can be done from which week onwards? And how fast can you get the result? Sorry can you also share the cost of CVS with me? Thanks in advance

I can't remember exactly, CVS is slightly more ex than harmony.

I'm doing it at 11th week. 2 weeks to get results cos the analysis is done overseas. There's an option to expedite the results at $500 (i think)

Hi busygal,

after CVS, do you have to rest for a few days? Any discomfort? How many days of MC did doc give?

the last time i did CVS it was slightly cheaper than harmony.. maybe $200 cheaper and CVS can claim medisave and thus i only paid $305 cash and medisave was $658. this was the price 2 yrs back at kkh. maybe now different..

Hi busygal,

hmm to be frank i cannot rem.. i rem i went to do the test alone and since i can go home myself i suppose not much of a discomfort. i cannot rem if i was given 2 days MC (1 day for the test and another just to rest)

the test is quite fast and i dun rem havin much pain doin the test. maybe coz i went thru IVF for my 1st pregnancy and so CVS seems nothing..
