Thanks for sharing babe. I had my first check up earlier this week with Dr Paul Tseng of TMC. I thought I was 7+ wks along but the ultrasound scan showed I was only 6+ wks. It was a surprisingly fast and fuss free experience - Dr went out for a delivery 15 mins prior to our appointment timing and he was back within half an hour. We waited a bit for a while cos there were 4 other mommies who were waiting to see him. Nurse took my height, weight, bp and told me to keep my bladder full for the ultrasound scan.
In his office, Dr greeted us and asked standard questions about drug allergy, medical conditions, any surgery history, LMC etc, before directing me to do the ultrasound scan. What showed up in a scan was pretty curious - hub thought it looked like a butterfly, doc described it as an owl, in my mind I was wondering "??? Don't know where to look, what to see". First thing Dr asked me was "Do you have twins in the family?" and told me that I was having a pair of fraternal twins with 2 separate amniotic sacs. Hub and I were so surprised but we couldn't stop grinning.
After the scan, Dr asked us if we have questions for him. He said supplements were not necessary at this point of time and prescribed me with only folic acid. We were so pleasantly surprised that we forgot to ask him questions about twin pregnancies and whether progesterone supplements were required. After we took some time to digest the news, it later dawned on us that KKH might provide better support for multiple pregnancies. Now we are in a bit of a dilemma to stick to Dr Paul Tseng (because he is so nice!) or to jump ship to another Dr from KKH. My friends recommend Dr June Tan from KKH but when I called the hospital, the officer on the line said Dr Tan will be on leave till July and even then, she will have to take a look at her schedule to see if she wants to accommodate me
She recommended me to see specialists from the maternal-fetal unit for my case - Dr Daniel Koh / Dr Edwin Thia / Dr Tan Kai Lit. I am still trying to read reviews about them.
Thanks for reading my lengthy post
. Will appreciate your advice
And a smooth sailing pregnancy to all!
