Anyone delivering @ NUH?

Jamie: I met my gynae today, she also advice me to go natural first unless there r complications. We will discuss e details 2 wk later. We r approaching the final steps already. Jia you!

Jamie, not yet. Baby is still cozy in the oven lol
However, I will be admitting tmr AM to do cervical priming. Hopefully baby will appear soon after. My EDD is this Fri.

Ocean_blue: Bb still wants to b with mummy
happy.gif
btw what is cervical priming?

Do they provide maternity pads and baby diapers, at NUH or do I need to pack them with my hospital bag? I'm due in mid may, but my doctor said she might induce me earlier as my bb is measuring small.. TIA..

This time it was natural delivery.
Yes, for. C-sect, they will ask you to buy an abdominal binder. This is to protect the surgical wound. If I don't remember wrongly, 3 yrs ago it cost abt $55 to $60.

FTM here, & Dr Su Lin Lin's my gynae too.
due early Jul.

Azel, read that you might pop this month?
all the best, do take care

Atigah: I'm going to visit Dr Su later.. Have another detail scan on bb. Yap going to deliver anytime this month. *excited*.. Early July is aso v fast, but at least u can rest at home. Is this ur first bb?

dian_tang: you are delivering most likely next week, so exciting

happy.gif

Azel: i am now 39 weeks . my doc said if nothing happen now til 7 may, i report to delivery suite on 8 may to induce the baby. How abt u?

dian_tang: wow 39 weeks already! This Sun I'll b week 36.. Doc has scheduled to undergo c-sec on 16 May cos one of the bb's head is still on top (breech).. Abit scare scare cos bb r coming out in 2 wks. Haha
happy.gif
So r u ready?

Azel: how did the detail scan go? hope all's well!
happy.gif
was it your choice to go c-section or did she recommend it? when are you starting your ML? & yup, first baby.. hehe. I'll be on course next week until end June (just nice, would be 37w by then so hopefully baby cooperates & behaves well inside!)

Su_yana: ya Dr Su v patient.

Atiqah: the detail scan went well..
happy.gif
One of bb's head is on top (breech). So for safety, she recommend c-sec. I may start my ML on 13 or 14 May, but have not discuss wf my bosses.. First bb for you, I'm first time mummy too.. Hahaha.. I have attended the prenatal course, I find it useful for some of the tips.. Tell bb to cooperate and stay inside till end of June.. I aso on n off tell them to b good bb n stay inside as long as possible.. :p

Ocean Blue,
Yup. I went there alone as I'm a teenager. Nobody was there to help me or guide me. So I didn't know they have packages.

Azel: sorry for the late reply. I have pop on 4 may , earlier than edd . Went for vaginal delivery but can't push the bb out . So in the end , went for emergency epidural csect .
Is there any chance that yrbaby will turn?Dun worry abt the c section . The operation is very fast but just u hav to bear with the pain of the wounds .
All the best !

dian_tang: first of all congrats! No worry, I understand that you will b busy wf bb now.
happy.gif
Oh u went thru both natural n c-sec.
sad.gif
I went to check e positions of the bb last Fri, one of e bb's head is still up. Doc said tt it must b cramp for her to turn down. Haha.. I'll fine wf c-sec but hav to handle e after pain n bb. Heehhee. U aso Jia you!

Azel: dun worry abt the c sect . We just need more time to heal the wounds .
Just prepare that the nurse will push the baby to u for Breastfeeding as they can't be feed the bb with formula .

dian_tang: yap need more time to heal n recover.
happy.gif
Wow they r really pro-breastfeeding, but I'm worry tt breastmilk dun come immediately. Some mummies said tt their breastmilk comes on fourth day. So e nurse still dun allow formula milk if no breastmilk yet?

Azel: I think on the fourth day, if you are able to start walking to toilet or ard ur room , you can be discharge. As for bb, got to c his condition eg jaundice or others. If the bb cannot be discharge like my case, If you still have no bm, they will feed them with specially packed fm . Dun worry abt that. Bb has reserves in them for first 48 hrs . So u can just Learn how to latch cos latch can simulate milk flow . The latching I learnt were from the ward nurses. Lactation consultant did not visit me until the day I discharge , a bit disappointed . For my fren, lactation consultant visit her every day .

Oh ya, u may want to bring ur Breast pump and you can learnt how to use it. You can loan sterilizer from Nuh for free. They also loan breast pump at a cost too .

dian_tang: huh lactation consultant only visit on the day u discharge.. Disappointed..
sad.gif
Ya going to bring my breast pump over to learn how to use.. hopefully I can use it.. hahaha.. thanks for the advice..

It's true that NUH is very pro breastfeeding and they encourage baby to room in with mummies.

My baby cries even after I bf, I was so tired that I dun have enough sleep so requested the nurse to bring baby to the nursery. But once the baby is time for milk, they bring back the baby for me to try latching on. Though there isn't really real milk for the first few days. But the latching really helps to stimulate, by the second day, my colostrum starts to come.
/
But I suffered from sore nipples, cos my baby sucked for too long and it took me 2 weeks to recover. I dare not allow baby to latch directly because it is too painful so I express out to let him drink.

The lactation consultant visited me on day 2. And I was discharged on day 3.

My last delivery at NUH, they also visited me on Day 2, every day until I discharged. Butndun worry, the nurses there all are trained in bf too.

Jamie: Thanks for the info. If both of my bb cry at alternate timing, I guess I will go crazy.. haha.. I need some minimum rest especially after the c-sec, so I can recover quicker.. I guess I will bring the sore nipple cream over to hospital.. Breastfeed is really a tough thing, but must endure..
happy.gif
Jia you everyone!

Azel: yes you need to bring that just in case . My nipple also sore due to poor latching as the baby was very hungry by the time he was sent to me.

Anyone stay at b2 ward? I was told that if I choose b2 I can't choose my gynae to opt for me. Is the on call reg/specialist good?

dian_tang: I had popped, however only have time to come into this forum today. I was discharged yesterday and trying to get used without the help from the nurses.

Azel: it
Wld be better to get someone to help u esp getting up from the bed. I can't do it without my hub help initially too. Dun bend to pick up things too or carry heavy things. Have a good rest now . Congrats!!

Thanks Atigah and dian_tang..

dian_tang: ya it is difficult to get up from bed initially but slowly getting used to it.. Trying to get as much rest as possible when the CL is still around.
happy.gif

Azel: congrats ! Didn't know u act have twin babies . It must be tough to carry two babies.
Take ur time . Slowly u can do it. Have plenty of rest!

dian_tang: yap twins
happy.gif
it was tough at the last two weeks when I need to handle work n their weight. Haha. Now the wound is getting better, it hurt abit when I over stretch it while doing things. :p

Dian_tang: yap getting CL to do most of the things so can get to rest more now.
happy.gif
I guess that I can't rest much cos there r lots of visitors coming to visit bb..
sad.gif
