JY, aku sih beli playpen... bis ga ada tempat buat baby cot... n pikirnya kalo bb ga mao tidur lagi di playpen bisa di simpan. oh ya lu bisa beli mattressnya di KP sekarang lagi ada 15% for non member n 20% for member. kemaren aku liat yg ukuran 28"x41"x3" $45. 3" tuh ukuran tebalnya mattress.

temen ku pernah bawa maid nya dari indo. pertama masuk sih visit pass spt biasa. tp kalo lbh dari itu, hrs apply for fdw work permit lewat MOM. maid nya hrs ngejalanin english test dari MOM, kecuali kalo dia udah kerja di kita (di indo) udah lama (brp tahun gitu...lupa, bs check di MOM website).
yg aku liat sih, sdkt risky bawa maid/baby sitter dari indo utk jangka panjang kecuali kl orgnya ok banget. Maid temen ku itu, akhirnya pulang stlh 1 bln krn dia depresi, ga betah tinggal di apartment, ga ada temen utk ngobrol (ga spt di indo, tinggal maen ke tetangga), ga suka sama makanan di sini (ke pasar sdkt beda bhn makanannya dgn di indo, ke food court even malay food is different from indo food). Baru 1 minggu di sini, dia udah nangis terus pengen pulang, dll. pusing lah. Pdhl dia dulu di indonya udah kerja di keluarga temenku itu 10tahun lebih.
Menurut ku sih sptnya lebih mending lewat agen sini ambil maid jd kalo ga cocok bisa dibalikkin.

Oic...just advise aja ya kalo baby bjorn ngga bisa dipake lama lho, cm bbrp bln aja. Temen2ku yg pada pake bjorn, setelah anaknya beratnya mulai 7 kg an pada ngeluh sakit pinggang+pundak. Jd kalo nurut aku mending beli 2nd aja, if you don't mind 2nd hand lho. Ngga worth it kalo pakenya bentar doang.

Hi all, I just went back from Expo fair AND taka fair. Yup, took one day leave (actually I need to clear leave by march so thats why lol) so may as well use the time for something useful aka nursery building lol
Expo Fair > Warning. People are really kiasu. My husband today work around Changi business park and he overheard a convo between this mother and her friend, they are going to expo and that time it was only 9 plus! OMG, the Expo starts at 11am loh lol
But since he wanted the baby bjorn carrier that was 30% discount, okay i come earlier at 10.30 AM. By the time I reached there, the Q is very long already. By 11AM the Q are super long. I noticed the goodie bag run out before 12AM (that means, more than 1,000 visitor within the first hour).
Moving around was very difficult since it's very crowded. A lot of mummies with stroller (actually, I pity the small kids as they also got to stand in the Q...) and a lot of pregnant mummies too...
Now on the goodie bag, actually not so worth it if you go there just because of the goodie bag. Only 2 pampers, samples from palmer, pizza cutter (yes!!!!) floor cleaner, bottled water (that make the goodie bag significantly heavier! ) the rest are vouchers.
Discount wise, not so bad. Majority giving 15-20% discount with some highlight product, normally discounted at 30%. Some booth giving away freebies (e.g. MAM booth give you pacifier and breast pad samples if you sign up with their mailing list)
My suggestion would be to mark down where do you want to go because the crowd may make you feel like you wanna cabut ASAP (at least to me, as I don't really fancy crowds). It was very hot despite the aircon due to the larrrrrrrgeee number of people.
As for Taka Fair, it's pretty quiet and we can take our sweet time browsing [IMG=http://www.singaporemotherhood.com/forumboard/clipart/happy.gif] BTW, you can also go to the third floor (children's department) the items there are also discounted. Because sometimes the colour you want may run out on the baby fair area, but they have it upstairs. As it was pretty quiet, service was good.

From Taka : Toys, Stroller add on pillows (as my stroller a bit too big for newborn), Cot mobile
Total damage almost 800 bucks lol
Conclusion : Expo had better deal than Taka, but some items are not available at Expo and you have to brace yourself against the crowd.

Another tips. You can actually call takashimaya customer service and ask them to check the price for you, so you can easily compare price without going there and plan ahead which items you want to get from taka, which items you want to get from somewhere else e.g. expo

Kayaknya expo cuma make sense for east siders like me ya... soalnya gw tinggal di bedok jadi cuma 2 stops away, ke town kan males tapi kalau yang rumahnya di daerah tengah or jurong area... musti diitung juga perjalanan + ongkos worth it nggak hehehehehe...

Aku malahan hari minggu ke taka, beli stroller [IMG=http://www.singaporemotherhood.com/forumboard/clipart/happy.gif]. Soalnya di expo, ngga ada bundle/promosi stroller+car seat, semuanya harus beli terpisah jadi jatuhnya lebih mahal.

Novi > Engga Nov, trip yg pertama cuma beli celana renang. Saking kecil nya ga nahan kalau ga beli. Lucu bgttt... pdhal bayinya jg blm keluar haha. Belinya di tmpt bumwear itu. Selain itu cm beli ABC playmat sama ban renang gitu.
Waktu trip yg ke-2, akhirnya ada sign up juga majalah mother & baby itu. Aku pilih nya yg MAM bottles. Tadinya kurang yakin sama ini brand, tp ternyata wkt coba2 search online, katanya mayan bagus juga... Jd ya kebetulan dech hehee..

Setauku sih cuma di sana doang, tp setauku dia jg ada affiliasi ma Mt E cuma ngga yakin kalo dia praktek disana.
Iya kalo parkir di paragonnya memang mahal, tp biasanya aku parkir di seberangnya paragon, belakang masjid/thong sia building. More space and cheaper than paragon.

Engga Nov, cot aku pemberian teman. Merek Mama & papas. Merek ini setauku ga ada di singapore de, krn dia memang beli cot nya dr negara dia (sekeluarga pindah ke spore karena kerjaan suaminya). Jadi ukuran cot nya agak beda.. memang ga off2 banget si ukurannya, cuma kalau ga pas ga enak aja rasanya hehe..

wen, aku ga tao dia latex ato bukan. dia banyak macam sih... harganya juga besa2. lu masuk ke any sea horse lalu blg ke counternya lu mao customade mattress, kasi tao size yg lu mao n tebalnya juga. ntar dia bakal show lu beberapa jenis mattress n harganya juga... jadi lu bisa pilih from there...
kalo aku sih pilih harga di tengah2 loh... kan ntar kalo baby da agak besar dia juga ga mao tidur di cot lagi sih...
