IUI/SO-IUI: Anyone?

For me, I get the bad headaches with clomid, not femara. So I think it defers.
Ladies, I'm feeling the femara effects - headaches

The headache is quite constant throughout the day. I feel like taking painkiller, no joke trying to focus on working/looking @ monitor with the throbbing going on. I didn't get a chance to ask the doc if I can take anything for the headache.

Hi All ! I am new here. Still trying to figure out how this website works. Seems like alot of ladies here do SO-IUI? I just did IUI a few days go (natural, no meds. just one injection 2 days before although i dont really know the exact name) . I wanted to try SO-IUI (as success rate is higher) but was told by my doc in NUH that SO-IUI is very similar effort on girls part (injections, medication etc) to IVF. The increased success rate from IUI to SO-IUI is not much more and he suggested 3 cycles of natural IUI before going to IVF. I know IUI is very little chance of success but i had no choice as the doc wasnt keen on SO-IUI. Am wondering if most girls who go to KKH do SO-IUI? and dont do the natural IUI?

Hi hajar,
When I used perugon for my IVF a few years back (in July 2011), I felt severe headache and blurred vision on one side of my eyes.

Blurred vision sounds scary!!!! Hw you counteract them all?

Hi hajar,
That time KK just told me if I am to counteract the effects of blurred vision, will have to go to some kind of specialist in TTS Hospital. However, I just did not bother as the side effects subsided after I completed my IVF cycle.

I'm kk patient .. I did few tests before the doc advised to take clomid for 3 months. But still failed. Then proceed with so iui last Dec but failed too. Not sure whether kk has clomid + iui as previously I dun reli have much knowledge on iui yet. You may ask the kk nurse whether kk has natural iui and clomid + iui.
For my clomid, I actually joined their study. The study is to find out why some patients response to 5mg .. some to 10mg etc. The study included scan to check the follicles size and uterus lining which I think quite good so that I can know how big my follicles will grow.
For so iui, I'm taking puregon 50mg and increased to 75mg. The follicles size seems to be smaller than the follicles size when I took clomid. For uterus lining (8.5 triple) when taking puregon was better when taking clomid (7.6).
Clomid is much cheaper than the puregon.

I think the minimum dosage for clomid is 50mg? And then if one is not responding well, gynae will increase to 100mg in the next cycle. 150mg is the maximum dosage.
IUI is purely oral fertility drugs while SOIUI involves injection or combination of injection and oral fertility drugs.

If I am not mistaken, there should be some oral fertility drugs prescribed for IUI to assist on follicles growth. A trigger jab will be ordered to trigger ovulation, IUI to be performed in the next 1-2 days per gynae advice.
SOIUI is kinda similar to IVF without the ER and ET.
If you're not comfortable with what the doctor advised you, you may wanna consider changing to another doctor.

Don't think here is a good place to check on the foetus size. Your gynae would be the best person to answer this question. Alternatively, you can also check it out at the mummy's thread. The sisters there would be able to advise better.

hi, im doing so-iui. start my period on 15/1/2016, call kkh to book on sat 16/1/2016, start my first perugon injection on 16/1/2016 at clinic where nurse will test and teach my hubby on trial sample then with the real injection. my hubby help me injection every morning. nurse said every morning will have effect
injection alt on left right, depend on which side u want, today the 4th day injection. left 2 days on 21/1/2016 for utlrasound.
after injection i will feel pain and abit cramp, but i will start feeling nausea on off, will check with doctor on thursdday to see wat they said anad remember to took folic acid every morning..

What do you mean, doc will put 2 eggs? This is not ivf. This is iui. Basically, your eggs are in your body already. Then again if you are saying about sperm, it is spermwashed before inserting it via catherer. It would be definitely more than 2 sperm for sure. So please clarify to avoid confusion.
Honestly, iui or so-iui is very much like natural conception and you would definitely still need to bd after the procedure and 1 or 2 days thereafter or longer because some people do ovulate alot later than usual.

Sorry.. I meant doc told us two (2) egg is of certain size (matured) before procedure. Not put (pls ignore).
What I was told is no Bd after the night itself till 2ww

I was told not to BD throughout cycle..But some forum from babycentre pple advise to BD..So confused!

hi Hajar,
i scan all the test result is all very good in high numbers.
but ask to test urine for two days on sun 24/1 & this morning 25/1 all show negative. tml going back again for ultrasound, urine test and see doctor. going see wat they said.. alomost 2-3 days went back to kkh sia.. -.-'' . kkh doctor wrote an memo to my company if case they dun accept my leave ... hope tml have positive urnie. dunno y keep show negative.
the injection part is making me pain on the alt side of the tummy . doctor increase my dosage to higher abit ... make me feel very bloating, pain & nausea.

@Mercury_Blue The bloating and nausea is possibly effects from mild OHSS from the stimulation from the jabs. You can take high protein food like lean meat or egg whites. Alternatively, you can take isotonic drinks like Gatorade or pocari if you don't like the gassy drink.

No symptoms. it was quick and done in a few minutes maybe 2 min or something. I had natural IUI with just a jab 2 days before. All the best!

No wories! feel free to ask questions I took 1 day MC which I am sure you can ask your doc to give you but really there's no restrictions and can go back to work after. Since invested so much in the procedure mentally (and financially) might as well stay at home to rest!
