    I initially thought so too.. but recently i have had news of friends'/relatives' newly born children having illnesses that were undetected and/or chromosomal issues that arose during pregnancy and hence decided to be extra careful so at least we could be mentally and emotionally prepared.

    I'm not sure if this is still useful to you. But you may want to check out Cigna. I heard they have very comprehensive coverage for pregnant ladies and newly borns. The expats in my office are covered under Cigna.
