Hi Mummies and Mummies-to-be,
What did you do when you know or suspect you are pregnant (yes and want the baby)?
Besides taking the pregnancy kit...

Next steps is it to see doctor/Ob gynae?
Is it can go to any doctor like how you see a doctor in polyclinic/private clinic or is it have to go to the hospital / specialised clinics to see Ob gynae?

Have anyone know of stories when one is pregnant but never see any doctor until giving birth/8-9 months later?

TIA~ Appreciate any advise.

Congrats on your pregnancy!

u would perhaps want to book an appt with a gynae for a scan just to be sure all is well.

That is usually done in week 6 onwards.

i understand women in other countries dont see the gynae as often as we do in Singapore and perhaps only do 2-3 scans for the whole pregnancy. But in Sg, we get ultrasound scans every visit. I guess its entirely up to u if u are not comfortable going so often.

but u should start your folic acid now whether u decide to see gynae or not.

Yup yup, see a gynae to confirm your pregnancy. This is what I did with my first pregnancy. My period was late for 11 days then I decided to get a pregnancy test (stick), which was positive. I then asked my mom what to do next and she took me to her gynae Dr Regina Ng who gave me folic meds and dated the pregnancy. Was asked to come back on the 6th week since at the time no heartbeat yet and nothing to see on ultrasound.

It helps if you already know a gynae to see. It makes everything quicker. With pregnancy I learned that the 9 months go so so fast haha good luck to you!
