Hi All,

i am very lost. i underwent my very first ivf cycle in feb. had eggs retrieved last wed.

16 eggs retrieved.
11 mature eggs.
ONLY 2 slow growing blasts which a day behind growth

i called the lab ytd (day 5) to check and they told me they cant freeze it yet as it didnt reach the right size. they will monitor on day 6 & 7 and update me once the case is closed. which means if anything happen to my only 2 blasts, i have totally no embryos this round.

i am puzzled why the lab didnt freeze any at day 3 and took the risk to culture all beyond day 3. :(
i asked the gynae, he said they need to eliminate risks of having twins, abnormal growth, etc and the lab mentioned if those dont survive beyond day 3 probably wont make it after transfer too.

but it didnt make any sense to me.

Hi me sew,

i once had a morula at day 4. Embryologist didn’t want to risk to transfer as he felt that it is not a viable one. At day 5, embbie started to degenerate..
I believe your embryologist wanted to rule out and ensure that you are transferring viable embryos. Hope you managed to transfer those two :)
