Hubby sent to work in dangerous location

Hi everyone,
I come here with the hope to find some advice to this stressful situation.
My hubby is a consultant and his company has project in a war-torn Middle East country. He has been asked to go there for a business trip. We are very worried and fear for his personal security and even life.
The trip is not absolutely necessary as everything can be conducted remotely e.g. presentation and interviews. However, his manager insists that he should go.
Quitting is not the best or even real option due to the financial conditions of our growing family.
What can we do to prevent him being sent there?
We have found that in other countries such as UK, it is legal for employees to deny to work if conditions threat one's safety or life without fearing firing. Is there anything like this in Singapore?
I haven't found anything in the Employment Act and I'm extremely worried about him.
I'll really appreciate your advice.
