Any reviews on Dr Wee Horng Yen from KKH

Hi hi,

Dr Wee delivered my 2 boys and nieces. He’s a very patient & personal doctor. He’ll answer any questions & doubts professionally & patiently. He doesn’t rush thru the consultation. Very responsible and attentive…Highly Recommended

Currently This is his new contact. http://www.drweehorngyen.com/contact-us.php

i'm with Dr Wee now. almost time for delivery soon... hehee..
agree with eng rooi. he is professional, patient and friendly.

antenatal package is 800 for 10 visits after week 13. not sure if there will be any price increase in 2014 though.

Dr Wee delivered my first baby boy in dec. he is very professional, pro natural birth and patient. his stitching skills is very good and did not have any problems walking after my natural deliver. thumbs up! fyi, he is now a private doctor, and clinic is at novena medical centre. ;)

yep. dr wee is no longer at kkh.

all private doc not based at kkh can only deliver at other hospital like mt a, tmc, glen or mt e.
you can also opt to go with kkh private suite. which is private charges at kkh, where you had a fixed gynae that will attend to you.
delivery will be at kkh, at private charges.

else if public rate.. will be at kkh and you can't choose and fix a gynae.

so dr wee currently station at which hospital now? compare kkh private suite and private hospital the charges wont be very big difference right?

I'm with dr wee too.. I was told to pay $2100(b4 GST) for e delivery charges at my next visit which is 37 weeks pregnant. Is it a must to pay? Because the clinic nurse says its non refundable..

so this sgd2100 delivery charge is payable to Dr wee? exclude the hospital charges?

think this is a form of deposit for doctor fee on delivery, same like hospital deposit. paid mine as well. (mine was 1800 b gst for natural delivery)
medisave should be able to refund back the claimed portion later stage only i think.
(based on my earlier experience as i had an operation with dr wee some time back. paid all the doctor charges while discharged from hospital using credit card. and later got all the medisave and insurance claims back thru cheque)

kkh private suite dont offer antenatal packages. so in a way your monthly visit will be more expansive.
the hospital charges during maternity stay part i'm not sure.. should be around the same as other private hospital.

ya.. the clinic did mention delivery charges is $1800 before GST + doc will come in and c u after delivery for 2 days, 1 day $150 before GST, i have to pay 2 days + delivery charge = $2100 before GST. All non refundable. Will be paid to Covering doc if Dr Wee is not ard to deliver.
Medisave can only claim $1650 + $450. And i think hospital charges will cost more than that.

so in another word if we opt for kkh private suite den will end up more ex than private hosp (eg. mount a)?

Yes. I assume so.. my colleague just delivered at KKH, her inital deposit in cash is $2500, after tat she still need to top up $200 in cash after medisave deduction. She's using A1 ward in KKH. But her doc is in KKH

hi.. how come u fast need to pay for the 1st 2 day visit already? i only paid the 1800.
dr wee might not be around when you are due?

yes.. i do think so. but with kkh, the good point will be. if you have any complication, kkh will be a very good place to handle. and also if bb is preterm or any complication. can directly admit into the NICU there.

hmm.. i dunno. this is the amount the clinic quote me. not sure.. cos i am going to deliver during CNY.. althou the clinic says Dr Wee will be ard, but what if he's not?

Is he still at kkh? Thought he had left. My friend intro me to him... He is a very friendly and patient dr who willing to spend time to explain to mothers. Also pro natural and will not rush to induce etc! Thumbs up for him.

He's no longer with kkh.. Now private at novena medical centre. Only delivers at mt a, mt e, gleneagles n thomson

oh.. i see.
coz i'm kinda due this period. he mentioned he will be around thruout xmas n new year.
and i was not charged for the 1st 2 days of visit. anyway.. guess will need to pay ultimately either now or later... hahaa.

Hi all,

I'm in my 3rd pregnancy now, and my 2 boys before this 3rd pregnancy were all delivered by Dr Wee HY @ KKH (before he left there).

We have followed Dr Wee to his current private practice - he gives a discount for his KKH patient but we followed him here mainly cos we are comfortable with him & he knows our medical history.

(I checked other gyneas in my HDB neighbourhood areas and some hospitals, Dr Wee's charges is comparable to theirs)

I had a pulip growth removal surgery from womb by him as well after my 2nd pregnancy.

I am a detailed person, with many questions in my first pregnancy - Dr Wee is a careful and very caring and patient to answer my questions. He is reassuring & encouraging to both the pregnant mummies & the husbands.

(In my first pregnancy - One time I had asked so many questions that I did not know I went overtime. He told the nurse to waive the extended session charge, but just tell me to be more mindful next time.

In this current pregnancy - when our 1st detailed scan of baby showed some unusual things on baby, I was obviously emotionally affected by what another doctor said and had a lot of doubts about baby's condition - he waived the extended session charges too - he took time to explain and reassures me of the situations and gave us websites to read up on related areas so that we are more informed)

He also respects patients' choice for birth plans (but of cos put the mummy's & baby's safety first when the time comes).

Some months before our 3rd pregnancy - I had a test kit tested pregnancy positive. Few weeks after, bleeding came I went A&E and hospital doctor said I was not pregnant via the urine test (either got played out by pregnancy kit / there was a premature miscarriage). I cried the whole night thinking that we could have lost our child.

I went to see Dr Wee the next day, he wanted to be sure about this whole situation and recommended me to do a certain kind of blood test (so that if I really had a premature miscarriage, we could take precautions and measures to ensure our next pregnancy goes well). Thankfully it turns out that I was really not pregnant & got played out by pregnancy kit. We are thankful that we did the blood test in the end to know what really happened so that it would not affect us.

Quite a no. of my friends are with / were with him too. We would recommend him to other new mummies too. :)

Hi Hi,

My 2 boys delivered by Dr Wee HY @ KKH (before he left there) and we have followed Dr Wee to his current private practice too. :)

Last week, in accidently I'm had super heavy bleeding came and I went A&E in the evening time. When Dr Wee get our called and rush down to the hospital also he took time to check and reassures me of the situations until midnight just go back home and he wanted me go his clinic in the next day and check up & bedrest until afternoon ensures me everything ok just let me go home. His nurse to told us Dr Wee waived the attend A&E fees charges and extended stay back charges too. My husband and I really appreciate.

Agree with MSFY Dr Wee is a very professional, responsible and attentive doctor. We would highly recommended him to other new mummies. :)

Dearest eng rooi....

*Hugs* im really sorry to hear about what you shared... it has to be the toughest decision you need to make.

No words or tears could express how we feel about the loss of our child. There are so much emotions & guilt we battle with daily.

I know it is beyond words a tough journey you and your family are walking through right now -

I just want to encourage you with this mummy's blog journey about how she walked through her loss of her child and make the loss into something powerful, positive & meaningful... I cried so much with her when I read her journey...

You could possibly resonate with some things she wrote, & perhaps may even find healing, encouragements & hope through her writing too.

Will be praying for God's healing upon your body and your hearts...

Love & Many Hugs,
Marianne

I really apologise to all other mums who came by to read Dr Wee's review and needed to have to read our above 2 posts (I dunno how to change this above post to be in another thread that's more applicable.)

I just hope it may bring some encouragements to the mummies who need to go through lives with "angel babies" will receive some support in this area through the link shared.

Thank you for your patience & understanding w/ us.

congrats MSFY on yr 3rd pregnancy! Dr Wee is indeed very kind patient and professional. very glad i made the choice to consult him for my first pregnancy last yr. :)

Hi @HappySadSillyMad ,

I am his patient, having my 3rd baby coming soon next mth. Have been seeing him since my 1st child.

He doesn't check on breasts on any appts we had. Only on one occasion, he checked on my heart beat cos I was having chest pain, which he later refers me to see a heart specialist & further check.

I believe he will only check on the area if you have a complaint (pain/lump?) abt something there...

Thks so much! Do u know if he's c sect skills r gd? And are his nurses helpful? Is there a 24hr hotline? Am considering him though I prefer male obgyn. Which hospital r u deliv at n his top choice hosp? Thks!

I never had C-sec before, but he is a very experienced gynea though he is not so old yet. Was the leading consultant in KKH's private suite. Now still gives lectures in KKH weekly though in private practice.

(When I went to KKH 24 hrs Woman's clinic a few times for some issues, when the doctors there know that my gynea was Dr Wee HY, they all had commented that he is a very good doctor, and it was a pity he is not with KKH now)

I had polip removal surgery that from womb require GAby him before.

I feel quite 放心 (at ease) to put my life in his hands as I feel he is really experienced.

Whichever gynea you choose, you need to feel that way, cos in labour and in some emergency circumstances a person may really need to trust her life and life of the baby in the hand of the gynea if some unexpected things happen.

A friend of mine who is very particular about details is very happy with him, as he is patient and kind to patients.

Also a very careful doctor, especially when she had several miscarriages previously. He actually gave her his own private number for contact just to be safe. I don't think he does that for every patient lah, as hers is a very special case where pregnancies earlier werent stable i think. Now my friend has 3 boys!

I realised recently when there are circumstances require him to postpone appointment for the sake of patients he will do it - he will be quite apologetic to his patients, always apologise a few times for change of timing when I go see him.

He recently postponed the whole afternoon's appointments including mine to stay back with a patient who was not stable after giving birth at hospital. Heard that he monitored her until she was okay then he leaves. I think that gives me a lot of assurance that he won't leave me alone in hospital if he feels I am not okay when I deliver)

His nurses (bibi & may) are helpful... there is a 24 hours hp no. for emergency.

He can delivers at TMC, Mt A, I din enquire abt whether Mt E & Glen E cos they are more ex. You can ask his nurse abt it. (I never really asked for his preferred choice though.)

We are delivering at Mt A this round.

Hi @HappySadSillyMad,

Congrates on your pregnancy!

You can start taking folic acid first (can buy from any pharmacy near you) and calcium tablets first before you see Dr Wee... just tell the staff what you already have when they ask if you need to get these from them k.
