Hi,
I'm a Sept MTB and am seriously considering getting the Ameda BP. Just wondering if it's necessary to pay extra to get the tote bag. Does the bag have special compartments for the pump and its accessories, or is it just a normal bag. Coz if that's the case, I might as well just use my own bag

Will appreciate any feedback! You can post here or PM me.

hi joon, i've been using my own bag for 6mths...basically, i only needed the bag to transport my pump and the cooler bag. don't need any fanciful bags...just my 2 cts worth!

thanx for the feedback sneaky

when I get the ameda pump, does it come with bottles? if so, how many?

So how's the pump so far?

Thanx for the fdbk mom2x

it's great to hear that the pump's reliable! I heard from other moms that the valves are kinda fragile though and need to be replaced often. Did that happen to you too?

Thanx for the offer, but I'm getting a brand-new one

I'm using Ameda too but I don't use their tote bag. Bought the recycling bag from NTUC ($0.95) and a plastic container from Daiso ($2) to store the motor. Another small container (also $2) to store the funnels. Just put both containers into the bag ;-)

As far as the valves are concerned, I've been using the pump for 10 months (coming 11 actually) and I've not changed my valves yet.

thanx reena! looks like i won't really need the bag eh? i hope i can keep up with the BFing for a year!

I bought my pump through a friend in US, from a US website. It comes with the tote bag with 3 ice packs. Also along with a motor, 2 funnels, 6 bottles and 3 pairs of valves. It all comes with a carrier and it cost US$135. Worth buying.

I had just replaced my valves. I realised that sterisling the valves too often will make it soft and fragile.

So far, I have been pumping for the past 5 mths. This is the website:

Got to keep checking if they are havng promotion.

Hi ruth,
Tried sending u a PM, but your acct doesn't allow it. Thanx for the link... will check it out... but what abt the warranty then? Will the local distributor here honour the US warranty? I'm sure u got a US warranty with the pump right? Thanx!

Hi joon,
U can get the Ameda pump from BMSG at $299. Don tink u need the bag, i just used a paperbag to carry the pump and cooler bag to office..

hi mummies,

Does anyone know if I can use the Avent steam steriliser for the Ameda Lactaline personal parts, esp the valves? Advice will be much appreciated.

Hi,

Do Robinson sell the Ameda valves?

Anyone bought the replacement valves from the internet or ebay before? the valves are so expensive in Singapore.

I need to get some soon. thanks

Hi Jenny,

Thanks for the information. But can't find any information about breast pump or the valves in their website.

By the way, do you have their contact number or address?

Thanks in advance.

Looks like i'll stick to MIM.

hi firstbaby,

so u bought the pump at $280 only after discount of 20% from $350?
does it come with other free items?

hi all
i m a dec mtb. bought an ameda lactaline recently. Would like to know how often do you change the valves/tubes/funnels? Or do you wait until they look like they are going to break then only change?

ji jeelomeelo
we only change the valves when they are broken.. but we wash and sterilise the funnel and valve after every use, the membranes when they come in contact with the milk... for the tubes, occasional rinsing... only air gets sucked into the pump through the tubes away from the funnel.

Hello ladies,
I bought the Ameda Purely Yours from USA. To use the pump, I went to Sim Lim to buy an adapter to suit the Singapore voltage. The adapter costs me only $28. I find it very value for $ to get it from the States.

jeelomeelo,
I changed the valves when I started to see those brownish stain inside the valves which I was unable to wash/brush away. It looked dirty to me if I continued to use tat brownish valves to pump milk for my kids. Usually changed the valves 3 mths later.
As for funnels and tubes, change only when required.
I was taught by the previous distributor not to sterilise the valves, but to wash and soak in hot water for a while. Continous sterilising caused the valves to tear easily. As for the tubings, I was taught to let it run for a few mins before keeping the pump away, to dry up the water vapours if any.

Hi all

I have just bought a Ameda breast pump too.
May I know which brand of bottles are suitable for Ameda?
The package only comes with 2 free bottles, I thought we might need more than that when expressing milk.

Thanks alot!

Hi Oink17,
I'm also using the Ameda but I transfer the milk out to Avent storage bottles which I also use to feed from. The Ameda pump can only fit to narrow neck bottles like Pigeon ones, NOT for wide-neck bottles like Avent, Bfree etc. So unless you're feeding from Pigeon bottles, best to transfer expressed milk out to something else.

Word of caution : Do not sterilize the small cuplike diaphragms at the top of the funnel and the little white plastic vavles are very fragile. Handle w care, especially the valves.

Hi all,

I'm thinking of selling my Ameda breastpump. Used for two months but given up breastfeeding due to mastitis. Overall, I'd say the pump served me well during last two months. I have bought spare funnels and valves as well so the set will come with brand new funnels and valves. Selling at $200, bought at $320. Pls email me at [email protected] if anyone's keen.

Hi all,

I'm also thinking of selling my Ameda breastpump. Used less than 2 months (Receipt can be provided to prove the purchase date which is late March 08)but has given up breastfeeding due to busy work schedule. I bought the pump with the original handsfree and the supershields (size XL) which are great I am able to pump while lying on my back, reading a book, playing my psp and even surfing on my computer. It is so convenient and easy. Will throw in an extra adaptor. The breastpump is gently used and in very good condition. Please pm me or email me at [email protected] if you are interested. I have paid a total of $390 for the whole set. Willing to sell the whole set at $290. Original packaging.

hi mumies,,, my massage lady recommend ameda pump... which is better dual ? or do they have single ect?

thx

they are the same in terms of the pump. only thing is that purely yours is from US and thus the power usage is different (110V instead of our usual 230V). so if you're getting that, you need to get an adaptor.

jan jan, u can try

Cheong Choon Store
Blk 34 Upper Cross Street
#03-132
Singapore 050034
Tel: 65323855

they r selling it for $350 including 2 bottles with delivery. i'm not sure if it's the cheapest though... let me know if u can find it cheaper

help! the wires on my adaptor broke - other than sim lim, anyone knows where can i get a new one? Any particular store in sim lim? the distributor is out of stock
sad.gif

thanks!

used the pump for a year now. it's been doing fine until this latest episode with the wires
happy.gif
would recommend it as it's a good pump, although you have to be careful with the valves as they are a bit more delicate. arghh i still haven't got time to go get a new adaptor...

the valves are necessary for the pumps to work. other standard milk bottles will fit (not the wide neck ones - you'll need to get a wide-neck to standard-neck adapter if you are using those). so far i've used evenflo glass bottles, medela and pigeon (standard neck) with no problems. the pump is still good after 1 year of use - was expressing 3x a day when i first bought it, and after half a year, about 2x a day when my baby started drinkiing less.

are u a stay at home mum or will you be returning to work after maternity leave? there may also be times along the way where u may want to take some time out without baby, etc. with a pump you can express some milk for someone else to feed your baby during these times when u are not around. if you don't work and are planning total breastfeeding, perhaps you could try going without a pump first, then buy one if the need arises.

cassie,

i will b a stay at home mum once bb is born, heard fr other mommies saying that after feeding bb via breasts, they need to pump to clear out the excess milk so that the breasts wont engorged. hence, i am not sure if i need a pump.
