(2015/04) April 2015 Jubilee Babies

Hi there, hang in there. Depending on the culture of your work place and how open you are with your boss, it maybe good to talk to your boss about your situation. It will at least explain the mood swings and work absenses (touch wood!) and he/she maybe more sympathetic. They may also start reshuffling your work arrangements around to make way for your maternity leave etc. In my opinion it's always good to be open about your situation. If they are not sympathetic then you could then start to consider looking out or resting at home (which trust me can get pretty boring after awhile!)
happyjiokzai, I agree that it can be rather boring without something to do, especially the long afternoon hours! I've been on hospitalisation leave for 3 weeks and can't wait to try going back to work for a little while at a time. It's true that you need a supportive work environment and I agree that it's good to talk to the boss about lighter workloads and different arrangements. Perhaps some work from home would be good for you? Let us know how it goes!

Thanks babe! Congrats on ur first time pregnancy~ hehe... I took ur advice and tried the crackers... really v helpful... I'm munching on some now while typing this! Also tried those ginger pills for nausea... Find that it helps a bit too!

Also wish I was one of those without morning sickness.. but oh well~! This is not something we can choose.. So just gotta bear with it and hope it clears up by 2nd tri...
Great that you find the crackers help! I learned that crackers are good because they're dry and absorb the acid that tends to come up in acid reflux. Ginger pills didn't work for me, but I'm on anti-nausea medication that is helping a lot. Are there any foods that you can't eat? You'll find that some foods just aren't palatable anymore cos of changing taste buds. Don't worry, things do clear sometimes as early as 11-12th week, so take care in the meantime!

I got spotting and was order by gynae not to carry my #1 but cant help.. she want me. N keep asking me to bao bao. She normally sleep on mattress beside our bed.

Hi hi, im currently 9 weeks preggy and a first time mum. Currently seeing Dr LC Cheng at TMC. Super poor appetite and im worried that it may affect the growth of my baby.. im taking folic acid and fish oil for now. Should I start on iron pills? Thanks in advance! :)

hi babe I can't seem to find your profile on fb, maybe it's set to private. can u add me on fb instead? sorry for the trouble cos I've set the April mummies group to secret group as I don't wanna announce it to frens yet.. think many mummies also feel the same at this stage..

my fb: [email protected]
Hi hi, can I be added to the April mummies group? My email address is [email protected] . Sorry I couldn't find your profile on fb.. apologies..

Hi congrats to all.. im also into my 10wks now and i cant believe it that ive hit the jackpot as im already 35 and had been married for 7 years. im rather confuse now as i've not decied on gynae as yet and just hoping that everything goes smooth as i did had a miscarriage as bb had no heartbeat 2 years back.

yirong, i will try to FB you and please assist to add me in thanks.

hi all, just wanted to share an anti MS home remedy that works for me. it doesn't involve taking any medication but likely only works on mild to moderate MS cases. can give it a try if you are out of options! :)
1) Ginger drink - slice a medium sized piece (adjust depending on how spicy you like it) of old and young ginger and boil for 10-20mins in boiling water. add brown or raw sugar to taste (you can try honey if you like). drink it hot or warm and makes for a yummy and comforting drink.
2) Green/granny smith apple slices - i think its the tartness and sourness that helps with the nausea and jolting your system

Dear all, glad to see so many mummies-to-be here... I am 7wks 4 days with #2. Think my EDD should be end April 15. Taking hot soup or beverages helps me with my nausea

Hi
Just hear hb today, I'm 8wks with #2, can pm to let me know how to add me in fb group?

Wt put on faster n waist thicken earlier with this one, slow digestion too. Seem to be fast track for #2.
Seems the case for me too... tummy seems to be bigger compared to #1 considering am only at week 7. I am watching my weight very closely... don't want to put on too much weight.

Congrats to you too...you have not seen any gynae yet?

Hi I am going to have work review with my boss soon and I have thought of telling my boss before the work review. Recently, I have been quite stressed up with work because my boss has given me heavier portfolio. Really feel like using this pregnancy to quit the job and rest. It is quite tiring to be pregnant (but worth it). Just want my beanie to be healthy. Work can come later.
I have the similar thought as you... work is taking a toll on me and now with this pregnancy, my mood swings easily. The project I am working on now is on the critical stage and it just drains me out... I totally got no motivation to work at all now... but thinking of the bread and butter, am literally forcing myself to go to work every day..

Congrats to you too...you have not seen any gynae yet?
Jastan, i went to KKH under sub case adn suppose to go for 2nd appt 2 wks time.. rather lost cos dunno if i should have one fix with kkh or with one that is at Sengkang and have delivery at TMC... i dont like TMC cos i felt that it is not very convenient. what about you?

KKH only advice me to take folic acid and start on multi vit given to me on my first visit only after wk12.. so i suppose you should ask your gynae.

KK gave me folic acid. I had to ask for MS med... constipation med(just in case, cheap there anyway)... gastric med.... n yes, they will only give the other supplements after 10wks. So at that tine, i was ard 5wks. I bought my own Obimin at Unity, and An-mum milk. No harm starting early, besides, with the MS, its gd to hv supplements.

I'm about ready to go back to work after being on HL for 3 weeks, but I realise that I can't sleep well at night thanks to insomnia, and I really need to rest in the afternoon. I'm only in my 9th week.. Hubby is supportive and says I should take NPL, but can't seem to bring myself to do that. Anyone has any ideas or arrangements they're currently on that may help?

I have not been to KKH so I can't comment much on that. For my #1 is with my gynae and his office is at China Square, and he delivers either at Mt A or TMC. For my #2, I am going back to him as well. TMC is inconvenient but since not going there often, it is still fine with me.

I am taking folic acid and multi-vit (obimin) at the moment. For fish oil, I will start only after 1st trim

I do not have this problem, but I do take nap in office during lunch hours nowadays... If taking NPL helps, why not consider as now got to put the little life in you with much consideration. Probably having a talk with your supervisor might help to see if lighter duties can be allocated to you or even go on a part-time work arrangement

Hi, seems like many mummies here having No. 2 and No. 1 is still very young. Just curious how do you guys manage? Do you still carry No. 1 , are they still sleeping together with you at night?
My #1 is very old liao... hee hee...

I just went for my appt. I am a first time mum in my 8 weeks of pregnancy. My EDD is 22 Apr. Not too sure what I need to prepare for now. ;)

Ariana, so are you with KKH? did you have a fix gynae? Oh ya they gave me Obimin which im suppose to start after 12wks.

Hi Jastan, thanks for that. i will have to determine if i want to use kkh private suite or to look for others instead which clinic is nearer to my home and more convenient in a way as well.

Hi glad12. Yes, with KK. Nope, not with any doc. My husband said no point in choosing a doctor as they are all good enough. Plus if u choose, its considered private and no 50% subsidy each visit. Unless you have complications frm the start, then i find that one doc would b better. If no complications, anyone would do. It is KK! The specialised hosp! Hahaha!

Hi happyjiokzai. Congrats. Just continue your folic acid. If you have MS, just eat what u can! I always joke with myself, eat what i can to stay alive! Hahaha.

Does anyone has plans/intentions to travel during preggie stage ?

hello twinkle_angles! i would be travelling in dec when i'm 20 weeks (currently only 7 weeks). i guess it is better to plan your travels during your 2nd trimester since according to what i read online they say that you are more or less back to normal in your 2nd trimester. but i'm a first time mummy, so i don't know how true is that, am taking quite a big risk here. :\

hello! i'm a first time mummy-to-be and i was wondering if anyone can advise whether it is normal to be putting on quite a lot of weight in the first trimester? i was reading an article online and it says that you should not be putting on weight in your first trimester and only 0.5kg per week from second trimester onwards, so i'm very worried that i'm gaining too much weight now. i'm only at 7 weeks and i feel that my tummy is pretty obvious already. :[

Sigh~~ I can't stand the smell of pork, can't eat fish, mushroom, broccoli... all food that I used to love! Nowadays I'm always craving for fast food, despite being a healthy eater in the past.

But I just eat... because there's no way I can force other food down, makes me wan to throw up.

What abt u (& other babes)?

Hihi Twinkle Angels,
I'm going to Australia end Oct! Would be in 2nd trimester so shld be okay. U?

I've been taking lots of ginger tea which is helpful. Morning sickness not really a bother now, thank God, just needing to pee a lot and it's a pain having to wake up 4 times at night and it makes me feel tired at work. My boss doesn't know yet. I plan to tell him in another week where I'll be at week 12. :)

I'm travelling in Oct :) near the end of 1st trimester. Booked tix long time ago alr, and it's a trip we've been looking fwd to. Gynae says it's not an issue to travel as long as it's a healthy pregnancy!

I will also be travelling right after my 1st trimester. Hope I can survive the long flight to Europe. :p

I ate McSpicy Burger yesterday. Keep having cravings for junk food. Anyway, I have this funny taste in my mouth. Not too sure if you all are having the same too.

Wow! So good.. love Mc spicy. Love chilli padi and all food spicy. But cant eat now, will get gastric and puke!
I have funny tastes in my mouth all the time! But recently, i crave hashbrowns. Frozen ones. Dump in air fryer for 10mins and done. And i love it cos apparently it gives my mouth a neutral taste. Crinkle cut fries too. As long its potato, it works for me!

yar traveling mid oct... near end of first tri... then again in mid nov... booked all these before preggy so will go ahead!! can take the chance to stock up on some bb stuff :) unfortunately won't know the gender so must buy gender neutral stuff :p
gynae says ok as long as stable.... and don't walk too much.. every hour must rest... tt's all...

me too... i have trouble taking even half days off... but i see the heavier work toll now as a blessing... coz i know it will slow down just nice in april/may... so taking a couple of months off then wouldn't be as bad as taking time off now... piah now for the bb later :)

Hey, every pregnancy is different, depending on your base wt too. I was heavier for my first preg (due to TCM) compare to this #2, so i actually gain wt for first 8wks though I am still below my #1 first trimester wt now. Just make sure u eat healthily & avoid carbo & sugar if possible cos those r the one that might cause u to get gestational diabetes later. I was borderline GD for my first preg and i dreamt that i had GD this time last wk!

Those who r travelling, just make u take ample rest during the day & keep yourself hydrated. U shld be fine.

Hi gals, went for my first gynae visit last Sat and doc say I was 8 weeks 5 days preggie and my due date is probably around 12th April...now 9 weeks plus already.. Am going to travel to taiwan mid Oct and doc say its perfectly ok to do so...should be going into my 2nd trimester by then...hopefully no more morning sickness.... I haven't gained much since I discovered I was pregnant after 5 weeks..when i found out...weighed myself looks like i might have gained 1kg to 1.5kg...but now at 9 weeks....the weight remains the same.. but my tummy seems to be always bloated and so big! no longer flat like before...like canot suck in my tummy....and oh...my waist has thickened quite abit too....:p

Hi all!! Congrats!

Im currently in my 9th week. Having very bad morning sickness since 6week. Been on bed rest for going 3rd week liao. Feeling so terrible.

Really hope things will be better after first trim. Going on a holiday in dec to bali. Hope everything will be ok.

I am also planning travelling in mid Nov to Dec, which I am in 2nd trimster too, it is a good period for travel in this trimster. 1st trimster is not idea as baby is still unstable, 3rd trimster not idea as tummy too big and will be tired easily.

My MS is not that bad... I still can eat fruits and vegetables. Now I prefer to take more soupy stuff so that my MS will not act up. For 1st trimster, guess appetite will change, but 2nd trimster you should be better and able to more types of food

I'm actually in Bangkok now!! Currently should be in my 9th week.. My doc said its okie to travel. In fact he encouraged me to go as many 'babymoon' as I can. Hahaha. Might be planning for another trip in dec too.. But I think I'm considered quite lucky.. No MS and appetite has been very good. Been able to sleep well too. This traveling to me is no issue. :)

I can't travel :( doc says it's better not to cos of my severe morning sickness, just in case I'm overseas and it acts up again. Perhaps in the 2nd trimester things will be better though and I'll be able to travel at least to nearby places

I'm always looking for strong flavours! Realise I can only stomach spicy food, which sometimes isn't good for my acid reflux, but if not then I don't have any interest in the food. True, some people say just eat what you can cos it's better to eat and have the food stay down than to force food down that doesn't agree with you and baby.

Congrats to all mummies to be!
I am at my 7 weeks and have went for my first scan. Happy that there's a sac n hb. This year may, I had a miscarriage n fetal has no hb.. Hopefully all is well for this blessed one. Trying not to be Ms Worry n stay positive.
