All mums know there’s nothing quite like motherhood. It may be the most rewarding experience of our lives, but that doesn’t mean it’s easy. It comes with its fair share of challenges, especially if you’re still focused on your career. Between meetings with clients and changing diapers, it can be a tough line to toe. Here are five Singaporean mums who inspire us with how they juggle motherhood and their side-hustle.

Charmaine, a popular figure on Instagram, is also the co-founder of Elementary Co. Running the company alongside her husband, Derek Ong, she heads branding and merchantry. Elementary Co assists other companies with branding, digital marketing, photography, and even packaging design. Undoubtedly one of the leading brains behind this creative operation, Charmaine is a wiz when it comes to sorting gems from the clutter. Other than building a business, she’s also a mum to two lovely daughters, Charlie Rose Ong and Dahlia Jaymes Ong. Did we also mention she’s somewhat of a fashionista? We love her look (styled by Hugo Boss) on the red carpet at the SGIFF!

2. Rae Yun

Do you love shopping for Bub’s new outfits online? Then you may have purchased one of Rae Yun’s designs. Rae Yun is the lady behind popular Singaporean kids fashion label, Oh Happy Fry. Aside from designing wonderfully whimsical and colourful clothes for babies, she’s also the mum of an adorable boy and girl. If that isn’t amazing enough, she’s also a fabulous cook! Her Instagram feed often showcases drool-worthy meals she whips up for her little ones. May we have a bite, please?

You may recognise May Wan from the local cinematic hit, 881. She has also modelled for some of the most famous fashion houses, such as Marc Jacobs, Chopard and Bvlgari. Not to mention, this beauty of Norwegian and Chinese descent was also a VJ for MTV Asia! Now, apart from raising her two girls, she also works as an emcee and a baker. Hosting some of the most prestigious events, such as the 23rd Asian Television Awards, this mama is still rocking it! At home, she’s great at baking decadent desserts. We especially love this Egyptian cake she baked for her daughter’s birthday.

Can fitness count as a side-hustle? With the amount of time and effort it takes, we say yes. Mums who are fitness enthusiasts are probably familiar with Jen Li, one of the fittest Singaporean mums on IG! This yogi isn’t only a fabulous mama to three Bubs, she’s also got lots of strength, speed, and agility. From showcasing flexible yoga poses with her little ones, to competing in ultra-difficult endurance tests like the Spartan Race and lifting heavy weights. If you’re looking for some extra motivation to hit the gym or sweat it out in pilates, she’s our go-to.
