National Day 2024: Fun Activities for Families to Enjoy this Long Weekend

1. Go BTS of the Parade in “Let’s Celebrate NDP!”

7. Raise your voice with SingNation!

Enjoy an unforgettable evening of community, music, and celebration, with trivia games, stories about our shared heritage, and live sing-alongs of NDP songs led by local band The Passerbys, Joyce Ang from Voices of Singapore Ladies Choir (VSL), and Sean and Bangyan from Voices of Singapore Youth Choir (VYC). The evening culminates in a spectacular fireworks display from the nearby NDP rehearsals, which will light up the sky at 8.15pm.

8. Embrace the Singapore Spirit with UNWIND @ Raffles Place

Have a nostalgic, fun-filled day of activities that bring back fond memories of childhood, play fun lawn games, and go on a community bike tour around the CBD. There’s a dedicated playground for little ones (4pm – 9pm) as well, live musical performances from local artists, and an outdoor movie screening of Sing 2 to keep the celebrations going after the sun goes down.

9. Enjoy VIVA Fiesta, Dreams of Tomorrow Concert

Pack the family, a picnic, and settle in for an evening of inspiring music and hope. Organised by the VIVA Foundation for Children with Cancer, this concert features a line-up of young Asian talent, including Lee Pei Ling, winner of Sing! China and The Next 2023; Emiliano Cyrus, known as the “Wonder Boy” and “Singapore Electro-Pop Prince”; Miss Lou, Singapore’s Glamour Vintage Songbird; and lullaboy, an emerging breakout star in Asia.

10. Celebrate with Gardens By The Bay and Mediacorp National Day Concert 2024

Themed “Our Home, Our Heart, Our Singapore”, and hosted by Avery Yeo and Hazelle Teo, this features performances by local talents like Olivia Ong, fireworks, and fun activities at a pre-show carnival. What’s more, everyone can bring home a plant grown by Gardens by the Bay, and enjoy free cotton candy and popcorn treats while stocks last.

11. Enjoy fun National Day Programmes at the ArtScience Museum

12. Join National Day Celebrations at the National Museum

Spend your National Day at the museum to “Lepak (hang out) and Play”! Celebrate Singapore’s birthday at outdoor and inflatable playgrounds featuring iconic local HDB playground designs, join drop-in craft activities, and go on a scavenger hunt at the museum. End the day with a “picnic under the stars” and catch the live outdoor screening of the National Day 2024 Parade on the museum’s front lawn.

13. Take part in a National Day Colouring Competition

Calling kids aged 6 to 13 years, unleash your creativity in this colouring competition featuring our local icons. Bring your own colouring materials (dry materials only, no paint allowed) or purchase a colouring pack at $5 while stocks last. Register here early, as there are only 50 slots available!

14. Be part of NDP Celebrations @ Marina Barrage

Join the Sustainable Singapore Gallery at Marina Barrage for NDP 2024 festivities. Catch the live parade screening from 5pm onwards on the Green Roof, join the “Sleuths of the Little Red Dot” to uncover national Icons, and go on a guided tour of the Sustainable Singapore Gallery. There’s also a plants and pets extravaganza, hands-on upcycling workshops, and interactive games for all. After the fireworks, stay on to watch Murk, a short film that shows the beauty of marine life in Singapore.

15. Play at Pororo Park’s National Day Festivities

See the NDP fireworks away from the crowds, at Pororo Park Singapore’s outdoor private viewing terrace. Apart from that, there will also be a Pororo and Friends Show and meet-and-greet, balloon sculpting, and carnival games. The Pororo Express Train and play areas will be open too. Watch the live screening of the NDP, and go home with a goodie bag worth $100!

16. Celebrate All Things Local @ Majulah Fiesta

Get set for three days of free and fun events at the Singapore Sports Hub, starting with a live broadcast of the NDP. Watch the “Fly Our Flag” flypast at Stadium Roar, and a fireworks display at Stadium Riverside Walk. Sing along with home-grown acts at the Majulah Music Hub (10 Aug), then sweat it out at the Majulah Fiesta Fitness Party at OCBC Square on 11 August.

17. Feel at Home at Museum of Ice Cream (MOIC)

Scoop your favourite ice cream treats at MOIC this National Day. 19. Get tickets for the Temasek Foundation x SSO National Day Concert

Singapore has a rich musical legacy that is showcased each year in this annual concert. Come listen to the works of our musical forefathers, and hear new creations from composers of today. These are performed by the Singapore Symphony Orchestra, the Singapore National Youth Orchestra and more, conducted by Leonard Tan.

20. Visit the largest land animals with Backstage Pass: Elephant Encounters

Starting this National Day, you can go behind-the-scenes for a brand new, unique experience to learn more about Asian elephants and their care at the Singapore Zoo. Come face-to-trunk with elephants, get a first-hand glimpse into how they have ‘pedicures’, and feed them their favourite treats such as carrots and bananas.
Daily from 9 August, 2 – 3pm. Tickets at $118.40 per person (weekdays) and $148 (weekends) are available here. Friends of Wildlife members enjoy a 20% discount.

21. Be awed by a National Day Underwater Presentation

Six divers, a multitude of sea creatures, and one national flag, creating a stunning underwater spectacle unlike any other. It’s a scene you’ll only get to see once this year, so don’t miss it! This special National Day Underwater Presentation takes place right after the Habitat Talk: Open Ocean Discover @ Open Ocean Habitat (1.15pm – 1.25pm) where you can learn more about the marine animals residing in the habitat, such as the manta ray or giant grouper.
