Leia and Lauren’s Enchanted Garden 1st Birthday Party at Sofitel Sentosa
Leia and Lauren, also known as the highly adorable pair of Singaporean momo (mono-amniotic) twins who have taken Instagram (@leialauren) by storm, turned one in July! The cherubic sisters had a lovely enchanted garden-themed birthday bash at Sofitel Singapore Sentosa Resort & Spa to mark this momentous milestone.

Mr Peter Lok, 40, and Mrs Amber Yong, 33, say that their identical twin daughters have very different personalities. Leia is reserved and observant, while Lauren is sociable and jovial. “They balance out each other really well,” says their mummy.
What’s your favourite parenting moment with Leia and Lauren?
It has to be the mornings when they wake up smiling after a good night’s rest, all ready for cuddles! Being a working mother, I appreciate these little moments during which I can take my time to bond with my children on a daily basis.
What was the theme for this party?
Leia and Lauren are too young to decide what they want, so my husband and I decided to go for something whimsical for their first birthday party. In the end, we decided on the Enchanted Garden theme as we figured Leia and Lauren would look really cute dressed as fairies!
Why did you choose Sofitel Sentosa as a party venue?
We wanted a venue with good natural lighting and warm and inviting décor. It also had to be spacious enough to house our 140 invited guests comfortably, along with all the other children’s activities that we had planned for. For the convenience of our guests, the venue also had to have parking facilities nearby. Sofitel Sentosa was the one place that fulfilled our criteria. What’s more, we had a sea-view from the ballroom!
What was the set-up?
We had four vendors who came together to do the set-up for the party. Bite created the amazing 3D Enchanted Garden backdrop which was the focal point of the event, as well as the customised dessert tables. They took about five hours to set up. White Spatula created our savoury dessert tables and Flower Story took care of the customised table bouquets. Party Mojo provided the balloon decorations and activity stations. They were also the party planners who brought everything together nicely on the day of the celebration.
What was the party planning process with Party Mojo like?
We had high expectations of Leia and Lauren’s first birthday celebration and I have to say that they did a fantastic job of turning what we envisioned into reality! From planning to execution, every single detail was looked into and discussed with us promptly. We were highly assured that whatever we wanted for the party was going to be delivered well.
Did you have the entire space to yourself?
Yes, the entire ballroom was ours for three hours during the event. Sofitel Sentosa also allowed us extra time for an early set-up.
How many children were there?
We had about 45 children joining us at this party. The children were between one and nine years old.
What kinds of games and activities did the children take part in?
We brought in a bouncy castle and a ball pool for the younger children to have fun in. For the older children, there was balloon sculpting, a live magician show, hama bead art, and face-painting. The children were having a such great time at the party that their parents had a tough time trying to convince them to go home!
Tell us about the cake.
The birthday cake was a four-tier Enchanted Garden themed cake from Abite, with a different flavour for each tier. It was pretty and perfect!
What made this party memorable?
No party is perfect without its guests having a good time! Our guests enjoyed themselves thoroughly, and that made this party a memorable one. It was also Leia and Lauren’s first birthday and it will always be a special moment for us to look back upon.
Did you give out goody bags?
Yes, we gave out goody boxes from Abite for both the adults and the children. The goody boxes for the adults included a customised cookie, a cupcake, and a chocolate bar. The goody boxes for the children contained a mixture of packet snacks.
Your top birthday party planning tip for other parents?
Have an activity or two for the adults too. You will be surprised at how well-received they will be! We had two live food stations for the adults at our party – one for churros, and one for Thai rolled ice cream!
