Holiday Weekends In Singapore: 10-11 Dec
HeART for Nature
Come celebrate the 18th anniversary of Sungei Buloh Wetland Reserve with handicraft activities and an art exhibition by nature volunteers. Watch senior volunteer Mr Tham Pui San, use his Apple Ipad to do a live sketch. Activities include face painting, henna painting, origami, bottle painting and more. And of course, there’s also the wonder of the reserve to explore, and all its feathered (and non-winged) friends to look out for!
10 Dec, 9.30am – 12.30pm, Sungei Buloh Wetland Reserve. Usual admission fees ($1 per adult, $0.50 per child) apply.

Beautiful Sunday Music Jamboree!
Celebrate the holidays with a festive concert by the People‘s Association Youth Chinese Orchestra! Conducted by conductor Ng Seng Hong, the orchestra will perform a mix of pop and classical pieces such as ‘You Raise Me Up’, the ‘William Tell Overture’, the theme from The Prince of Egypt and more. The set list includes the ‘Move On Overture’, composed by Singapore composer Phoon Yew Tien.
11 Dec, 3pm (1 hr, no intermission), Esplanade Concert Hall. Free.
Young Naturalist Passport (YNP) Camp
Limited to 40 children, this one-day camp encompasses indoor and outdoor learning of the wetlands and nature conservation issues through worksheets, nature walks and hands-on activities. Children will earn a stamp for every completed activity, and a full collection of stamps will earn them a series of cloth badges.
Each participant needs to purchase a $0.50 Young Naturalist Passport at the registration table. Registration fee for the camp: $5. Register in person at the Sungei Buloh Wetland Reserve Information Counter from 8.30am to 5.30pm. Bring the form (print out from the website) and registration fee in cash or cheque.

Yule Market at Loewen Gardens
The Pantry’s popular Farmer’s Market goes festive this weekend! Listen to the Christmas choir sing carols, sup on mulled wine, and munch on mince pies. Shop for X’mas goodies – yummy Christmas cakes, Christmas puddings, chutneys and ham – from the farmers. Order your Christmas vegetables directly from the formers, stock up on wines, English beer, nuts, fruit… also find perfect stocking fillers and last minute luxury presents from the gift stalls.

December creative workshop: Miro’s X’mas Lamp!
Children get to explore creative symbolism art and develop their conceptual and organisation skills through painting with water colours on a lamp. The workshop also helps to train children in the art of emphasis on detail and accuracy. For children aged 5 to 11.

YWCA Christmas Bazaar
While you do your Christmas shopping, the kids will get to meet Santa and Star Wars Storm Troopers from the 501st Legion at this bazaar! There will also be fun and games, carolling and entertainment for the family all day long. Proceeds from the Bazaar help to fund the YWCA’s community outreach programmes such as Meals-on-wheels for the elderly and children, which provides meals for home-bound elderly and children of low-income families. All purchases on the day will be in the form of coupons, which can be bought on the day of the Bazaar.
