Be prepared mommies here comes the scorching summer season. As the temperature rising unearthly, it is important to keep the body cool and fuelled to beat the heat. It is a bit tough for young babies to sustain the heat of the summer season. Include some special summer fruits and vegetables into the diet, so that you can help to keep the baby cool and hydrated over the summer.
Feed the babies according to the age. Initially start with 2-3 teaspoons of single fruit and vegetable puree and drinks and gradually increase the quantity. Here are some of the fruits and vegetables that can keep your baby to be hydrated and cool during the summer. Watermelon, muskmelon, pineapple, plums, coconut water, cucumber, tomato, barley water are healthy foods to feed the baby during summer.
Fruits like watermelon, muskmelon, pineapple, plum can be given in a pureed form, or of small chunks according to the age. Make a healthy chilled tomato soup with carrot, and mango cucumber soup for the babies. Coconut water and date smoothie is the best fluid to feed to the 7 months plus baby. Try to avoid sugar or any sweetener for babies below one year and feed them with lots of fruits.
 
Babies need vitamins, minerals, calcium in a right quantity, give purees made up of fruits like apple, banana, mango, pear, and vegetables purees made up of spinach, sweet potato, tomato, pumpkin, tomato, green peas, beetroot it will help in the growth of your baby, also give porridges made up of ragi. Give fruits and vegetables purees as it can help in providing all the essential vitamins and minerals to your baby.
 
Its very important that babies get all the essential nutrition which they need at early stage like the vitamins and minerals. Which they can get from fruits or vegetables like apples, mangoes, bananas, pears, sweet potato , spinach. ragi can also be given as that can provide for iron and protein which baby needs, protein help in muscle growth . ragi also keeps the baby full for a longer time.
 
In summers babies require special care and so does their food. Some foods that can be given to babies in summers are mangoes, watermelon, yogurt and basically food that have high water content and are cooling. Going for veggies like sweet potatoes, cucumbers, pumpkins will also be great.
