What will you do if your maid has a FB account?

Dear Mummies,

Recently i discovered my maid has open a FB secretly. Im actually fine with that till more secrets were found. She actually has a BF and seems to be hook on to FB (base on the time/intervals of her posting/comments) and becoming lazier on the housework... Both my kids go full-day CC so that makes her very free (too free) in my opinion.

I paid for her "Singtel HI-Card" monthly but that doesnt comes with a data plan.. so I also not sure how sure log on to the internet to surf FB? I also check our home Wi-fi and she's not even hook on to my net-work.. that makes me ponder even more...

Just last couple of weeks, our neighbour maid came forward to me and tell me my maid owe up $$ because she did some top up for her and till now she still havent paid up.. I confronted my maid but she insist the top up is for "her friend" and not her... it also seems that she has a few debts outside all due to phone calls usage and top up cards..

I never give her any "to do" list as my expectation for her is "do whatever is necessary".

While Im not exposing her at this point as im consoling myself that she too need to reach out to the outside world being with no off-days. I do need some advice on how to handle my maid tactfully.

How would you react?
 


i guess u cant do much abt her having FB ac.. my maid also has a FB ac and she added me. for my own privacy, i didnt add her.
 
Oh no! sounds bad! My ex maid has added me in her FB. She will be back to work for me. Do you think i should remove or delete her? Will i look bad if i delete her?
 
Hi blury_bear and Hophop, I'd suggest that you add her. But you can specify privacy settings for your account (specifically for her). That way, she can't access your latest updates unless you set them to public, but you can see what she's been up to as well.

If yr kid put full day childcare then don't need maid, just get part time cleaner.
This make yr maid more lazy & others maid wil Comte then follow her look for employer like u.

u mean we can set privacy for individuals friends we have in fb? can u share how to do that?

hophhop n blurybear, these days maid have fb act esp singtel line have line esp for philipino maids tie with internet. it was featured in today paper sometime ago.

Thanks HeySugarBug & Mama_Annie for yr advice and info. I am ok that my maid has fb account but they can't use it when we are working or when they are looking after my baby and children. My previous maid whom i asked to leave a few months bk own a Hp and didn't tell us. Little do i know that she has a FB account. No wonder she always stayed in my toilet for 1/2 hr a few times each day using my wifi to do her own personal thingy. Now that i am having my maternity leave, but if i am not around, i can't imagine how she will treat my baby

I hope my old maid will not abuse this 'privileage' that i give her.
 
blurybear - She didnt add me and neither did I cos I dont think I want her to know that I know of her FB account. She didnt put any private settings so now I can see whatever she post (although I dont understand Fili).
 
alicia80 - We did have that intention to send her back.. but my DD is going Pri 1 next year and I will need someone to be home to look after her Unless I look for a day care...
 
mama_annie - do you remember what day was the acticle published? My maid is using top-up card from Singtel.. Does it provides internet services/data plan? I was very very surprise when i realise she has a FB account and her internet access is not tab on to my Wi-fi.. unless she has a 2nd number which offer such services.
 
Hophop - Hahaha.. mine also.. always "stuck" in the toilet for so long.. taking intervals during the day and hide in the toilet..

My maid now is doing it "secretly" behind my back as she havnt got the approval from me.. thats why I rather act blur and dont acknowledge first.. Cos once I give her the approval, she will start doing it "in front" of me even during my present.
 
Yes, my maid is also stuck in the toilet for very long .. So there was once i purposely ask her whether is she ok., how come keep on going to toilet.
 
hi, my previous helper had a FB account too. I just did a search & found her acct.

She took pictures of my children & posted them on her acct, which she never asked permission to take the pictures in the first place.

She will updated her post when she is on her way to pick my gal and even in the early mornings. She was only allowed to use her hp when she has finished all her work at nite. She will also bitch about me & called me names.

I sent her back due to her work performance & also after catching her using her hp more than 10 times. Before she left, i told her to delete all my kid's pictures on her hp & FB.

I dont mind if she had asked permission to take the pictures.

If i am you, i would have changed my maid. From now till next year, there is still sufficient time for you to take a new one.
 
my maid has a FB acct too, she got a HP too. she had been with us for 3 years liao. so far no issues. i didn't add her in my FL too. But we let her have access to the computer like twice a month. the top up of her HP is her own $$ and we don't call her on her phone. she does post pictures of my family n my son on her FB too but she will ask permission before she post. so far she really treat my son like her own and dote on him alot.

as for pictures posting, it's better to tell them to ask permission before posting as all these are private items.
 
recently, i discover her taking photos of herself in my house and post on to her FB.. i was quite pissed as she actually have 'time' to do all this things.. and posting is in the afternoon time.
 
my ex-filipino maid got FB acct too...she secretly using it from my son ipad.
She also stuck in toilet for so long and always go to toilet. Ask her she poo? She say no but has difficulty in peeing!!
Saw her FB message and she got 2 indian boyfriends knowing from FB and messaging I love you, u miss me blah blah kind of messages.
She even took pictures of my son, my laptops, my hp and put on FB written "Gift from my mdm". She took picture of herself wearing sexy top and wearing my HB sunglasses!
She got 3 handphones! Messaging all the love notes. She got a bangla boyfriend in sg and 1 in her country.And yet she's a mother of 2.
Send her back after that.
 
@ annlee, your maid is so funny. "Gift from my mdm". It makes your a wonderful Mdm. Lol! Pardon me. Actually sometimes it's quite difficult to stop them from doing all these things. My previous maid is coming back so me too is so worried. Anyway, she is my friend in FB and her profile pix is my son and her

maids can really cause headache!

I had a maid we sent back last May coz we caught her doing something bad..

the new maid we got has some sort of psychological imbalance, we returned her to agency and after a week she was sent home by the agency..

the replacement (current) is a hp addict eventhough we had an agreement to use the hp after all the tasks are done and she even said she will keep it in her luggage and use at night time only. But my mom would always catch her using it.
* staying for so long in the toilet
* going to the bedroom pretending to do something * washing the dishes while the electric fan is blowing on her
* folding clothes using electric fan..omg!
* using the hp while feeding kids and she has the guts to say bec her fb load will be expiring in 1 hour!
* worst is always answering back eventhough she's at fault..even to my mother who's actually doing most of her job!
* can't cook a simple dish
* she just love wasting water, electricity, food
* a big eater!! she can eat 4 servings of rice!
* thing is, she's a Filipino and we are also a Filipino family! She's always sneaking out just to use the hp!

I am now looking for another replacement.
 
Just to share.

My previous maid owned a FB account too. Thought she was smart but neh. We found out that she had been on FB all the time, replies were almost instant 24/7 (which means she has always her phone). Also found pics of her taking slutty photos, wearing my accessories, laying on our bed taking photos etc.

On her fb, we also found out that she has a bf and had been flirting with weird guys on fb whom she meets on her offdays. Her work became so sloppy. We confronted her on it and told her that while we dun wanna interfere with what she does with her personal life, she has to bear in mind that she's paid to look after my girl. How could she be busy on fb when it's time for my girl to go to school?

One day, my dad followed her and my maid to school and found out that her eyes were glued to her hp while my girl just walk in front of her.

That was sort of the final blow and we sent her home immediately. Really sick of unappreciative maids.
 
Wondering how to know if maid has facebook account?

Recently caught my maid using a mobile. She secretly bought it from the next door maid. After which, she's been using her phone whole day.

Then, yesterday, she asked me for our wifi password, claiming that can call back indonesia foc. Without wifi, does that mean that now when she surfs internet with her mobile, she is using topup cards? Am worried if I can giver the password, this prob will escalate.
 
Do you have her email address?

I personally do not think it's advisable to give her your WiFi password. Given the fact that she's been sneaking around, and not being upfront with you. Plus if you do let her use the mobile phone, she shouldn't really be on it the whole day.

Just cite security reasons, unless you are sure you can trust her 100%.
 
Btw.. I didnt gave my maid the wifi password also.. but she's so smart till she know the password is written behind the modern..

Faintzzz.. anyway I have send her back for good and currently maidless...

My previous maid has fb account too!! But she only accesses it during her off day using her aunty's phone. In fact, she gives me her account password so that I can help post her pictures with the kids. And we are even 'friends' in fb..hahaha!
 
My previous FDW used our tab to FB when we were out. When discovered, she denied and said she "accidentally touched only". Only after I could name all her friends' whose page she checked out, did she finally admitted but definitely not with remorse cos she ended the conversation with "boring la". *faint*

Thereafter, I had to lock all our laptops, mobiles and the tab with passwords.

After chancing upon this thread, I went to check and sure enough, she uploaded a recent picture of herself days after she was transfered to the new employer.
 
Dun be fooled by them, even if they friended you on fb. Mine is my fb friend but she has another secret account and she blocked me from that secret account!
