Hi babylover,

I don't think Tcm cured me completely. It is just under control when I take tcm medicine and go for acupuncture. So I need to continue with Tcm, otherwise I think my menses will be irregular and cannot detect ovulation again. I go acupuncture around 2-3 times a week before ovulation. Medication (powder form) is taken daily.

I just got my BFP yesterday. And reading all of the 4000+ messages on this thread that made me excited/worried/comforted/miserable/relieved all at the same time I thought I shall do my part and share my experience.

34 going on to 35yo this year. Tried for 4 years.

Diagnosed with PCOS (just wasn't ovulating) and had surgery in 2012 for endometriosis. My gynea said I am stage 4 endo patient. In his 15 years as a gynea I am his 2nd worse case he has seen. Took him more than 3 hrs to completely removing my endo tissues all over the place. Major renovation inside. MS for 6 weeks.

After surgery, I was still not ovulating on my own. I bought ovulation sticks and it never showed me I was. grrrrr

Was on Clomid for about a year before I saw Prof Wong in Nov last year. Scheduled for IVF in late April and since I had to wait I squeezed in 2 rounds of IUI and they were BFNs.

I also visited Dr Zhu from Hua Mei Bukit Merah. I absolutely adore her and the team there. Every visit there I felt loved. From Karen the administrator who had to put up with my constant changing of time and was still cheerful to the helpers who offered to take my dress to another room so that I would not smell of smoke (due to the moxibustion) when I went back to work. (Sometimes I would go during lunch hour. Zip there in a cab and back. I work in Raffles Place so I would buffer 1.5hrs for this)

My Mandarin is as good as it gets and I would speak to Dr Zhu in a smattering of Mandarin and English and we got to a point where even during face down accupuncture we can gossip about Singapore celebrities to China variety programmes. There was once I was so tired I fell asleep asap when lying face down. After the whole session Dr Zhu while removing the needles said "Very tired ah? You didnt answer me at all when I talked to you." Hahahaha

And every time I went for IUI and my IVF the staff will wish me GOOD LUCK! It was really nice. When my IUI failed and I had to go back, I could hear the disappointment in Karen's voice like " Oh it didnt work. hmmm.. ok when do you want to see Dr Zhu?" They were all rooting for me.

I spent about $800 a month. 2 sessions weekly plus medicine in powder form which I had to take twice a day. I was very obedient and I went for 95% of the time for acu and took 95% of the medicine. Some days I forget. Dr Zhu will nag/scold me if I forget to take them.

The acu really works to balance out my body because:

1.) I had warts on my hands for years which did not go away despite seeing a skin specialist. The warts disappeared after 2 months. I read online warts were present due to imbalance in the body. so it was quite fascinating for me to see them gone just like that.

2.) I have bad sinus and I fall sick and I mean really sick, high fever, nose block cannot breath, major headache, sore throat once every 2 months. My close friends all noticed I get sick every so often. My company has an annual budget of SGD500 for GP visits. I max it every year and still top up. Since Nov till now I have only fallen sick once in March and was because I had food poisoning. And no more miserable sinus day in day out.

3) and because I have endo my periods pains were on a scale of 1 to 10 it was 11 man. I was heavily reliant on ponstan and synflex just to survive during my period week and even then 1 week out of a month I was constantly out of action. I stopped all those since Nov and acu and tcm medicine made the pain very manageable. I feel like a new woman.

I was always skeptical about TCm until my colleague also IVF by prof wong delivered a beautiful baby twins told me to go and see Dr Zhu. She was not sucessful on her first 2 IVFs and was successful after she saw Dr Zhu on her 3rd IVF (fresh).

Prof Wong is a man of few words. The wait at NUH is not too bad. MY friend at KKH also ivf waits for 3 hours to see different nurses and doctors to scan and then wait and then ultra sound and then wait then see doctor everytime its a different doctor/nurse. Btw she also BFP in KKH 1st time IVF and she visited DR Zhu also.

Prof Wong is very detailed during his presentation. You can ask questions and he invited an ex IVF patient who brought along her beautiful boy/girl twins to share her journey. It was good to see a successful case and her husband there for his support throughout the IVF journey. Ladies, I couldnt do the injections myself and my husband did it for me. It was good he did it because he can see how much his wife had to endure and I think he loved me for it. But dont punish your man if he cant. My friends injected themselves. Their husbands were away on business trips. So brave.

I was on Gonal F 370 from day one. I didnt produce many follicles at my first scan and I was given some other shots which you have to mix yourself. so I had a total of 3 different shots a day. Including acu and the stimm shots I was quite holey all over the body. haha Stimmed for 13 days had total 10 follicles and had my trigger shot. Retrieval day with 4 embroys and 3 fertilized. 1 good 2 satisfactory. 8 ,6, 5 cells. Transferred 2 embroys 3 days later froze 1. My successful IVF friends kept my spirits up by repeating over and over again. It only takes 1. I prayed over my 8 cell and 6 cell. Cmon you guys can do it!

During the 2ww, it was miserable for the first few days. Time passed so slowly. and then it became faster somehow. ( I went for Taka sale twice haha. Short meals with friends. Church.) Basically I stayed at home most of the time. Didnt do much at all and just watched TV and surfed the net. My brain rejected all thoughts of work. (my job is quite stressful) My husband complained that I did nothing at all to clean the house. I protested that my energy was used up to grow "them" and I patted my stomach. I just wanted to be a lazy girl without stress nor worry and I figured its time the husband realized how much I cleaned during normal days.

I had dark brown spotting 5dp3dt. I convinced myself this MUST be implantation spotting. Must be must be must be. Think happy thoughts.

So here we are after 2 weeks with a positive blood test. My HCG readings are low but prof wong said I was considered pregnant. He shook my hand and congratulated me and told me to be cautiously happy. I have to go back tmr again for another blood test to check if my HCG reading goes up. And if it does I can celebrate. I have faith it will be up in Jesus name. Mummy is waiting for you angels.

Thanks pantieileen. Unfortunately my blood test results came back with not so good readings. Nurse asked me to stop medication and wait for period to come. Just spent the last hour crying my eyes out and straightened my thoughts. I have one frostie and I will try again.

Hello gals, I am starting Nor e this week and injections starting end June. Have been taking BMCW for months and thinking of going acupuncture. Anyone with Dr Zhao from Raffles?
 
Hi ladies, we are embarking on the IVF journey this month. I am 39 years old, never did IUI before. Doc straight way recommended us to go for IVF due to age. Starting Nor-E end of the month. Is there any side effects of this drug?

Hi there! I dun experience any side effects when I'm on nor e... There's a list of possible side effects like bloated ness etc but I guess it really differs between individuals. Gd luck!

Did anyone experience nausea & giddiness when taking of Nor-E?
Feeling lethargic too.
I'm on day 3 taking pills.. Can anyone reassure me that this is normal...

There's a list of possible side effects taking nor e... I think it's normal but nt everyone will experience it...
 
We decided to delay our ivf plan for another two months....some how emotionally still not ready to embark on the journey. I salute all the ladies here who are so brave and determine to make it work.
 
my ivf is under dr chew @ nuh. i'm given a single jab of elonva on day 1, which can last for 6 days. for ivf newbie like me, i'm glad that i do not have to do daily jabs for the first few days.

the scan shows i have 5 follicles only. during the first week of ivf, i am down w flu and stuffy nose, so I don't have much time to think much abt my follicles!

i read that elonva produces better quality of eggs, but the quantity may not be impressive.. my dr wants my egg quality and follicle growth to improve, so i am given saizen and menopur from day 6 onwards. i did not eat anything special..neither did i go for tcm. my friend also succeeded in her 1st ivf under dr chew, and i learnt from her that i must trust in the dr and not to get too emotional. my hb did all the jabs for me as i m bit blur blur when comes to jab..maybe that helps alot..

Yes I believe taking it easy and having trust is your doc is important. Congrats again :) keep us posted on is your baby doing

I'm also on elonva day 3 , coming Monday will know the follicle count . Ur message encourage me a lot , thanks . Congrats ! Take care also .
 
i get 3 eggs only.. in the end, 2 eggs are fertilised. during the day 4 transfer, i hv one compact (morula) embryo and one 12-cell embryo.
given my low AMH (4.9) and high fsh (9), my dr didn't want to give me false assurance and i dun dare to ask what will be the possible outcome.. i just follow one step at a time..
the most critical factor for implantation is good embryo quality.. juz need 1 good egg and 1 good sperm for the fertilised egg

one of my follicles disappear during day 8 scan, but the missing follicle appears on day 11 scan.

. Ur embryo divided so fast ! After day 6 scan , u have to stim 2 more medicines ? When was ur ER day ? After day 11 scan , do u still need to stim or trigger shot on that day ? Sorry for asking a lot of questions .
 
My ER date is 12th June and ET date is 16th June. I still take menopur for both day 11 and day 12 as well as saizen on day 12. Trigger shot on day 12 before midnight. My HCG level is 375 on 27th June. All the best to you!

Hi meiling. I guess there's some q ahead, try calling in and ask. It really depends on the medication, mine was abt 12k+
 
Hi Meiling. you call NUH Women Clinic for 1st appt at 6772 2277. When you start ivf, the dr will see you at CHR clinic at level four in same building. All the best.
 
I paid about $12k as I was given saizen and elonva jabs. Also chose to take GA for embryo transfer and rest at day ward. Hence slightly more expensive
